Just round the corner from Norman Road, known for its buzzy blend of quirky cafes, independent shops and art galleries, this delightful home has character, charm and incredible sea views. Tucked away in a historic side street, it's a quiet home with a laid-back feel. First and foremost, it's super stylish, with wood floors and white walls acting as a canvas for pretty houseplants, vibrant modern art and contemporary furnishings. There's a cosy log burner for those cooler evenings by the sea and a supremely comfortable sofa for lounging on. You'll have everything you need in the smart kitchen and from here you can step out of the French doors to a real treat every morning – a private balcony with views across the rooftops to the nearby sea. Up another flight of stairs, two good size bedrooms and a bathroom mean it's suitable for a small family or a couple of friends, and those views just keep coming. Walk to the beach in minutes and stroll along the seafront to Hastings Old Town in a quarter of an hour. You won't be short of things to do and there are all sorts of great places to eat and drink on your doorstep.

The Merchant's View

With a privileged address in the heart of medieval Rye, this home is the perfect base for an East Sussex break. You’ll have a light-filled courtyard for warm weather drinks and a garden for leisurely gatherings. Inside, the rooms are perfect for families with plenty of space to relax, socialise, cook or catch up on work. Parking is available here and it’s just a short walk to local restaurants, galleries, shops and Camber Sands. It’s also a great base for exploring Hastings, Battle and Dungeness. 


For A Moment 

Surrounded by ancient woodlands, historic iron workings and picturesque meadows, The Writer's Cottage offers a charming escape to the rolling hills of High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Sussex. Hastings and Rye are both nearby, and easy to reach if you’re after a day trip. The cottage itself on a working farm, which has plenty to see, from the chickens to the orchards, and even the occasional pig. The garden is a lovely place to spend afternoons, and there’s a hot tub available, as well as a hammock slung between the trees. Then, as the night draws in, it’s hard to look past the wood-burning stove, which makes for a spectacularly cosy setting.

The Writer's Cottage

Walking out your front door onto the beach is a novelty you'll never tire of at this Victorian period apartment perched right along Seaford's Esplanade.

For all the apartment's period grandeur and charm (think soaring ceilings and original wooden flooring), the apartment is expertly reimagined for modern living. There's a log burner fireplace for chiller evenings, lighting fast Wifi for those working remotely (if you must), and heaps of contemporary style with unique artwork and an array of houseplants bringing the space to life.

But it's the uninterrupted sea views taking all the glory here – best seen from the living room's bay window, savouring a freshly brewed morning coffee from the pod machine. Or grab a deck chair and nip over the road to the beach to decamp for a while. It's an afternoon well spent with its gently sloping shores, colourful beach huts, artisan ice cream sellers, and playground nearby.

Away from the beach, Seaford's pace of life is much slower than its party cousin, Brighton (half an hour drive along the coast). Spend days hiking over the South Downs (or, for the adventurous, parasailing) and exploring the nearby charming Sussex villages of Alfriston and East Dean (both just a ten-minute drive). Or stay local in Seaford to mooch about its galleries and shops. Just be sure to make it home for dusk – the sunset views are spell bounding.

Seaford Rocks

Located in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within the grounds of a 50-acre estate, this detached oast house overlooks fields and paddocks from its southwest-facing terrace and lawned garden. You may spot the local wildlife, including deer, foxes, and barn owls. If you have children with you, though, a fenced-off pond is nearby, so they'll need to be supervised. Inside, there's a log burner for cosy nights in and a charming circular main bedroom. It would be tempting to spend all your time here, wouldn't it? But that would be a shame as Bewl Water is a ten-minute stroll away, pretty Tunbridge Wells is a twenty-minute drive, and Camber Sands is a forty-minute ride.

The Old Oast House

Just a few steps from the beach huts and peaceful shoreline of Norman’s Bay, this 18th-century fisherman’s cottage is postcard-perfect. Inside, you’ll find plenty of character and a log-burning fireplace for cosy nights in. But as with any heritage home, it comes with a few quirks. Taller guests may need to duck under low beams, and the shared garden might not appeal to everyone. That said, the unbeatable location more than makes up for it. Spend your days exploring Bexhill-on-Sea, Brighton, and Eastbourne – all within easy reach. Or stay local – a shop and a pub are a short walk away, and at low tide, the sandy shores are perfect for long coastal walks.

Fishing for Stars

This is no ordinary holiday home – it’s a family playground disguised as a seaside retreat. From the bubbling hot tub to the soundproof games room and poker-ready bar, every corner is packed with things to do (and ways to unwind). There’s plenty of space to spread out, including a sunny garden deck, smart TVs in every room, and flexible sleeping options across two floors. You’re tucked away in a quiet part of town, but still within walking distance of Hastings’ best beaches, parks and restaurants.

Hastings Hideaway

Step straight onto the shore from this three-storey beachfront beauty in laidback Pevensey Bay. With bi-fold doors that frame the sea and sunshine streaming into the open-plan lounge and kitchen, it’s the kind of home where beach days roll effortlessly into breezy evenings. Each of the three double bedrooms comes with its own en-suite, and the main suite enjoys its own private balcony. Whether you're hopping between seaside villages, exploring Eastbourne and Beachy Head, or simply staying in with a sea view, this is a beach stay done brilliantly.

Driftwood Waves

Sea views and a hot tub — need we say more? This dog-friendly stone cottage was once part of the late comedian Spike Milligan’s home and, while it can be rented alongside the adjoining cottage for larger groups, we think it makes an ideal self-contained retreat. Both the airy open-plan living-dining area and the main bedroom open directly onto the garden, which features a barbecue for alfresco dining with a side of sea breeze. It's perfectly placed, too, with Rye, Camber Sands, and Hastings all within easy driving distance.

Rye Retreat

One of a collection of three cottages on a thirteen-acre working farm in West Sussex, this home is nowhere near as rustic as these details might suggest. Step behind the front door and you'll find an interior that's contemporarily styled with a few quirky touches.

The stark white walls and sleek tiling make for a blank canvas against which the colourful cushions and hand-painted kitchen chairs really pop off. As well as that, the modern grey kitchen and pristine bathrooms are a world away from the back-to-basics country cottages that pepper the map in these parts – the rolltop bathtub in particular is sure to make a lot of guests very happy.

When the weather's on your side, there's a private outdoor space with an alfresco table and barbecue, but it's also lovely to wander about the shared parts of the site. The hosts run a private stud and breed native ponies, so if you're lucky, you might see a foal or two during your stay.

The home is blessed when it comes to location, sitting almost equidistantly between South Downs National Park and the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – as you might imagine, there's a wealth of walking routes to embark upon that start straight from the farm or just a short drive away. The seaside isn't too far away, either – you can get over to Worthing in just over half an hour in the car. 



Mane Character

In its past life, this unique home used to be a research base for triangulated radar – now, it’s an acclaimed designer gem, perfect as a base for a romantic getaway. Situated near a functioning lighthouse, just steps away from the beach and surrounded by the Dungeness Nature Reserve, this place is a haven of peace and natural beauty. The inside boasts Scandi elegance and simplicity – and with a sauna, a luxurious sunken bathtub and a wood burner, it’s easy to see why this home is such a hit. 

On My Radar 

This beautifully quaint cottage manages to retain all of its original features while boasting the usual mod-cons and contemporary features for a comfortable stay in a fantastic seaside location. Set in the heart of Hastings Old Town, you'll discover a muddle of century-old houses, traditional pubs and artsy shops tucked between two cliffs a fifteen-minute walk east of Hastings main town. Back home, there's a cosy and welcoming living room, with low ceilings and exposed beams that really pack a punch, plus board games and books to idle away rainy days. While the period features add interest, our favourite feature is the electric heater with the appearance of a rustic wood-burning stove – it sums up the home's blend of old and new perfectly. Upstairs you'll find striking stained glass windows in the hallway, two comfy bedrooms and a modern metro-tiled bathroom. Knock up a lazy brunch in the fully-equipped kitchen – complete with a sociable breakfast bar – and plan out the day's tourist itinerary. Whether you're taking a short stroll up the road to explore the charming High Street or spending a fun family day down at Rock-A-Nore Beach, only a five-minute walk from home, there's a great close-knit community feel, amazing food and pretty views all within reach. Round off the day with a glass of wine from your private garden overlooking East Hill and the beautiful natural surroundings.
