It's home to chic restaurants, traditional inns, cosy pubs and plenty of independent shops ripe for browsing. With countryside walks on your doorstep and many Cotswolds attractions within driving distance, this is a desirable place to be – and we absolutely adore this cottage, which is smack-dab in the centre of town. Once an antique showroom, this inviting homestead is now filled with local artwork – including paintings by the host's grandfather – as well as The Cotswold Company furniture and every amenity you can think of. Snuggle up with a book in front of the wood-burner, challenge the family to a board game around the dining table or relax with a soak in the sumptuous master bathtub. The private courtyard is the perfect spot to savour a cup of tea or a cocktail in the sun. In the evenings, light the barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal, gathering around the fire pit for toasted marshmallows when the air turns chilly.

You’ll be just 3 miles from beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water and 4 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold, right in the heart of the Cotswolds.

With its warm stone exterior, there's no mistaking what area of England this lovely Edwardian villa is in – it’s nestled in the popular Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water. We adore the fragrant, lavender-filled south-facing garden – it's the perfect spot for a sunny afternoon barbecue followed by a lavender martini. The level lawn is ideal for garden games too. The grounds here are a real highlight – there's even a beautiful pear tree flourishing at the front.

Inside, you'll find an array of character features such as the original quarry floor tiles in the hall, exposed stone walls, beams, decorative fireplaces and stained glass windows. There's a cosy snug as well as an elegant living room, so this place is ideal for families or friends looking to spread out a little. Step inside, and this ancient property is anything but twee. The four-storey house has been lovingly reimagined into a light-filled space awash in crisp whites, soothing greys and lavenders, and luxurious finishes. The original 1700's features remain (the oak beams and impressive stone staircase is quite something), while elsewhere, everything is firmly into the 21st Century. Climb the stairs to the top floor to discover a marble-clad bathroom with a double walk-in shower and a serene master bedroom boasting a sumptuous emperor-sized bed. At the heart of the home is an immaculate kitchen made for action and a large farmhouse dining table for you to all spill out. Take a nine-minute drive to Stow-on-the-Wold for its popular Farmer’s Market or stretch your legs with a ramble to Bourton-on-the-Water – it’ll take you an hour-and-a-half by foot. Located in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, you're just a short stroll away from a wealth of quaint tearooms, traditional pubs and local boutiques. Just be sure to pack comfortable shoes – the picturesque walks around the Cotswolds can't be missed. Your hosts can also help you book special extras, like at-home cooking lessons, cider tastings and in-house massages and pamper sessions, so this is sure to be a holiday to remember.

This village house is set on a quiet lane in the charming Cotswolds village of Bledington. While there's plenty of parking space outside, you won't need to drive to get the most out of your stay. The village green and babbling brook are within walking distance, and we think the location is fantastic for a well-behaved dog. The village's famous King's Head pub is a breezy stroll away, but you'll have space outside on the terrace to enjoy an evening drink or an alfresco dinner. Indoors, all the bedrooms are upstairs with their own en-suite bathrooms, and underfloor heating adds a touch of luxury.

This home's architecture, interiors and refined furnishings all share a charming rural feel, but its five acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, filled with topiary, sculptures and lily-padded ponds, tell the tale of Granada's ancient Alhambra fortress. It's a design paradox that we just love. Set in the quaint village of Kingham, there's plenty of great pubs, restaurants and woodland footpaths nearby – you're perfectly placed for exploring the sprawling Cotswolds from this pretty cottage. Upon arrival, recharge your batteries with a hearty meal in the bright and airy dining area, benefitting from soaring ceilings and windows that flood the room with light. Cosy up with a good book around the exposed stone hearth fireplace or knock up few light bites in the modern kitchen with exposed beams overhead. While its rustic features add interest, the heated indoor pool and Turkish Hammam really steal the show – treat yourself to a morning dip, before exploring the gardens or sporting your finest whites on the tennis court. With so much to see and do around the home, we just know you'll run out of time at this peaceful oasis.

Set in Ford, an attractive hamlet along the banks of the River Windrush, this romantic cottage offers the highest levels of charm and comfort for your Cotswolds escape. It’s hidden away within the grounds of the host’s own home, but offers complete privacy. There’s a small but well-equipped galley kitchen with a Nespresso machine and milk frother for a little luxury morning coffee. But our favourite bit is the four-poster, king-size bed which guarantees a luxurious night’s sleep. just what you need after a day tackling some of the best hiking routes in the Cotswolds. The Cotswolds Way runs right by the cottage and walks around Sudeley Castle are just a few miles away.

Set within the peaceful backwaters of Bourton-on-the-Water’s quaint High Street, this Grade II-listed cottage with forsythia-framed front door is as idyllic as they come. The open-plan living space is kept cosy with a log burner effect stove, warm wood accents and a buttery-soft leather couch – a welcome sight when returning home after the end of a long romp through the countryside. On warm days, spend hazy afternoons in the courtyard, sipping cider. Get to know your locale with a gentle stroll along the River Windrush, a minute from your abode or take the ten-minute drive to Stow-on-the-Wold, the Cotswold’s highest town, for a spot of antique shopping or a browse of the Farmer’s Market held every second Thursday of each month. Set in the quaint Cotswold village of Lower Swell, this traditional cottage is a great central base from which to explore the Cotswolds and country walks beyond. Dating back to approximately 1595, this stone cottage has undergone a modern transformation while keeping its historic charm – be it a cosy log burner in the beamed lounge to a Cotswold stone wall in the garden. That said, features of this era such as the steep stairs leading to the second floor and steps up to the patio may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Having said that, the centre of the village is just a two-minute walk from this home for a real taste of quintessential village life.
