You'll be treated to views across Westonbirt Arboretum, best enjoyed in the sunny garden or from the cottage's panoramic window seat. One well-behaved dog is allowed in one of the cottages for an additional fee, and your host can provide a free highchair and travel cot for little ones. All the bedrooms have their own en-suites, and while the ceiling is a bit low in one of them, there's plenty to make up for it. Outdoors, you'll find space for alfresco dining, along with a tennis court and a small stone gazebo on the expansive grounds, ideal for relaxing with a book.

The Old Village Mill

Nestled within a 19th Century water mill, this home is a great option for those seeking a cosy getaway in the heart of historic Malmesbury. From here, you can enjoy riverside walks as well as easy access to nearby restaurants, shops and cafes. Private parking is included and two well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you during your stay. It’s worth noting there is no garden here, but you will have a sweet little balcony and plenty of lounging space across the living room and bedrooms. Seemingly plucked straight from a fairytale, this secluded, idyllic thatched cottage, originally built in 1624, makes a romantic nesting place for couples looking for a rural escape. Cosy up on the velvet sofas by the wood-burning stove and relish in the home's comforting character. We love the stunning countryside views from the large garden – we can imagine sitting here on warm summer days with a glass of wine in hand. Another favourite of ours is the gorgeous bedroom with its characterful beams, chandelier and free-standing bath, the perfect place for a soak after a long countryside walk. There are several gastro pubs within a ten-minute drive, or if you fancy exploring further afield, Cirencester and Tetbury are under fifteen minutes in the car. Alternatively, marvel at over two thousand different species of trees at the stunning Westonbirt Arboretum, just over a twenty-minute ride.

Picture this: a beautiful Costwolds cottage with roses round the door and idyllic views over the neighbouring countryside. Set over three floors, this historic home retains heaps of character, with exposed stone walls and ancient wood beams, alongside contemporary alterations like a sparkling new kitchen and a glass panel staircase. Cosy and smartly furnished, the living room's feature fireplace has a log burner for warming up on winter evenings and leads through to a stylish dining space with log storage built into the wall. Equipped with everything you could need to cook at home, the kitchen is lit by a huge ceiling lantern and a big window. Bedrooms are classic country style and we particularly love the freestanding bathtub in the main bathroom and the pretty bedroom on the top floor. The house shares a rear courtyard with some neighbouring properties but a large, private garden lies across the lane to the front.

In the heart of the South Cotswolds, this Grade II listed cottage opens its doors to a cosy retreat. There’s a wood-burning stove in the living room and you’ll have access to an enclosed courtyard with seating for your morning coffee or evening drinks. Parking is available here, but you won't need a car as it’s just a short stroll into the centre of Stroud where you’ll find a great selection of restaurants, pubs and shops. It’s also just a short walk to the Cotswold Way and Rodborough Common. 

Feeling Joy 

Dating back to the 1880s, this former barn now provides a beautiful countryside cottage experience for families exploring The Cotswolds. Though it's since undergone renovations, it takes pride in the stone floors, exposed walls and beams, adding character and charm to the space, even if the sloped ceilings mean taller guests have to watch their heads. At least there's no ducking outside where an expansive garden gives you more than enough space. You'll also find the seasonal swimming pool, fire pit, alfresco dining table and, if requested, a hot tub out here. As for location, you're within easy driving distance of Cotswolds treasures such as Tetbury, Malmesbury and Cirencester.

Take advantage of nearby Westonbirt's National Arboretum, where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll. Or go to the village pub in Sherston for lunch.
