Built in 1929, Art Deco House showcases impressive features that take you back to a bygone era of lavish magnificence and opulent luxuries. It sits atop a cliff overlooking Sandown Bay, and there’s great access to the cliff edge and spectacular views of the Channel. Once you get inside, it becomes clear that it’s a labour of love. All of the furniture and art has been meticulously sourced from English and Viennese beginnings, and it ends up feeling like something from an F Scott Fitzgerald novel – especially, as you wander around the beautifully manicured gardens. It doesn’t hurt that one of the owners is an expert on Champagne either, and can provide you with a personal selection. Whether you're getting together to celebrate a special occasion or simply keen on exploring the beautiful Isle of Wight, Sunburst Splendours is the kind of place that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Modern-day Gatsbys should feel right at home at this glorious art-deco manor. You'll find it in the south of the Isle of Wight, with an unbeatable clifftop location and extraordinary views down to the wind-whipped coastline. It has a number of striking original features including ornate stained-glass windows, period lampshades, a grand spiral staircase, polished wood panelling - and even an old boot cleaner. Throw a 1920s-style party in the dining room (the table seats 22) with drinks until dawn before retiring to your lavishly appointed bedroom. Go outside and you'll find things are just as spectacular, thanks to the shimmering water feature, glamorous terrace and immaculately landscaped garden. And if you run out of champagne don't fear, you're only a short walk from the shops and restaurants in lively Shanklin.

In a secluded spot down a single-track lane, this contemporary barn is a welcome surprise. Renovated in the style of Caruso St John (the famed architects behind the Tate Modern), it's a striking tribute to modern, eco-friendly design – solar panels and a heat source pump power the heating and hot water. The inside is just as dramatic, with copper light fittings, high-design furniture and large picture windows that make the most of the garden views. All the mod-cons are accounted for, including rain showers, a home-cinema projector and underfloor heating to keep chilly toes at bay. Throw a log on the wood-burner for extra cosiness and snuggle up in the window seat with a good book. Outside there's even more to love, including a private pool, leafy garden and a calisthenic gym space that works as a yoga or kickboxing studio. After a morning workout and a dip in the pool, enjoy a walk around Manor Bottom, or if you want to stretch your legs even more, the seaside town of Ventnor is a forty-minute walk away. But our favourite part were the hosts. The amount of love Steven and Agnieszka put into making their guests' stay extra special is quite something. No detail has been overlooked, be it organic toiletries, a welcome hamper filled with local jams and chutneys or arranging on-site massages. They even go the extra mile to carefully curate books and music for each individual guest – safe to say, you'll be in excellent hands.

Nestled in Niton on the Isle of Wight, this restored heritage building is an ideal getaway for families or groups of friends. While the garden is shared with neighbouring cottages, a private courtyard awaits your alfresco dinners. The home is modern and practical, though some of the decor feels slightly dated – besides, it’s the setting that makes this place so unique. The signal is patchy here, but we think you’ll probably be too busy exploring to really notice. Explore Carisbrooke Castle, Brading Roman Villa, and Arreton Old Village, or take a stroll along Castlehaven Beach – it’s dog-friendly for those bringing their furry companions.

While you’ll share a garden with the neighbouring cottages, you’ll have a private courtyard to share dinners alfresco. The home is a little dated but perfectly practical and comfortable for those seeking a unique location. The signal is patchy here, so it’s really a place to hit reset. Nearby, you can enjoy exploring Carisbrooke Castle, Brading Roman Villa, Arreton Old Village or take a stroll around Rosemary Vineyard. And if you’re bringing your furry friend, you’ll find plenty of dog-friendly beaches.

While the little ones romp in the garden, relax on the patio with a pot of tea. And when dinnertime strikes, you can light up the barbecue to dine alfresco on a balmy summer evening. As the home is located in the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (one of only forty-six such spots in the UK), the prized landscape is exceptional for walking, fossil hunting, and windsurfing. But if you do fancy something a little more urban, the island’s main town of Cowes is just a twenty-five-minute drive.

This old farmhouse was built in 1820 and sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Isle of Wight. It's a seven-minute walk to Brook Beach if you want to take in the sea air, and the surrounding hills and valleys are filled with walking trails. Views from the farmhouse take in the patchwork of fields around you. On the outside, it's typically 19th-century with a stone facade and pitch-roofed doorway. We were taken aback at how modern it is inside, with soothing sofas in stone grey and sleek Scandi-wood floors. The custom-designed kitchen is a haven for cooking with beautiful granite-topped counters, a big range cooker and a Belfast sink. Breakfast is a sunny affair in the dining room with its curved bay of windows. From here, you can head out the French doors to the private patio, where a picnic bench provides a spot for a morning cup of tea and a built-in brick barbecue means summer dining outdoors. Or, head to the communal gardens and let the kids play in the fort, swings, slide and trampoline.

This pretty farm building conversion offers all the independence of a private cottage with its own garden, with the added bonus of communal grounds where children can run free. Ideal for families, it's part of a small complex of similar homes just a five-minute walk from the nearest beach. The inside offers plenty of space for everyone to find a quiet nook for relaxing with a holiday read, as well as for coming together and enjoying communal feasts and evenings of movies. With two living rooms – one on each floor – it doesn’t even have to be the same movie!

Nestled in the Sussex countryside, this 16th-century farmhouse boasts a sunny conservatory, a hot tub, and a private outdoor pool – a rare find for homes in this area. While it’s well set up for a family getaway, groups are not allowed here. The home comprises a main house and a separate annexe – with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living area – rented as one. The main kitchen has everything you’ll need to whip up a family feast, or if you want a night off catering duties, your host can arrange for a private chef to cook for you in the home. Location-wise, you’ll find historic Chichester and the nearest beach both a five-minute drive away.

When we boast that this amazing home is beachfront, we really mean it, with direct access to Bracklesham beach via the garden, you really couldn’t get much closer. Wander along the pebbled shore with your four-legged friend and listen to the crunch of stones beneath your feet, brave a dip in the sea, or even challenge the kids to build sculptures from the stones. 

Built in the 1920s around a classic railway carriage, this home has been extensively modernised, and expanded over the years but still holds much of that original charm. We would love nothing more than to wake up here to the soothing sound of the waves and seagulls calls before enjoying breakfast on the balcony to truly admire the views. 

Spend the day relaxing at home, reading a good book on the terrace while the children entertain themselves in the playroom which is filled with kids’ books and toys, or taking a dip in the swimming pool. 

Head out for the day and visit West Wittering’s stunning Blue Flag Beach – a short six-minute drive away – for a sandy beach experience, and let the children play in the salty waves and build castles on the sand. Visit Chichester Cathedral – a twenty-seven-minute drive away, or spend a day at the races at Goodwood horse racing course or Goodwood Motor Circuit, reachable by car in twenty-nine minutes and twenty-three minutes, respectively. 

In the evening, dine together as a family, and then when the children are all in bed, why not end the day with a cool glass of wine on the balcony as you enjoy the outstanding sea views.

Set across three floors, the owners have designed this home to bring warmth and fun to daily living. Enjoy slow mornings in the sun-dappled living room, get creative in the fully equipped kitchen and spend lazy afternoons with a book by the fire. And when the weather draws you outside, the garden is a wonderful spot for balmy evening drinks and barbecue meals. Kids will also love playing in the tree house. 

Beyond this private sanctuary, it’s just a short walk to East Wittering beach as well as the local pub and shops, while Chichester Marina is less than a fifteen-minute drive away. Once a coach house, this luxurious yet quirky spot in Chichester would suit a couple looking for a small-town getaway. A working clock takes pride of place on the home’s old facade, surrounded by white cladding and red brick. The walled garden out front welcomes you with an alfresco dining area – perfect for a summer cocktail or two – and a patio bursting with flora and illuminated with strings of lights at sundown. Stepping inside, the living room is made cosy with a wood-burning stove and you can choose between the plush leather or soft velvet sofa to lounge away the evening. It’s the quirky touches that really grabbed us though – brass pineapple lampstands and gnarled wooden beams on display in the bedroom. You’re in the heart of old Chichester here, a ten-minute walk to the 12th-century cathedral and amongst shambling streets with coffee shops, pubs and restaurants a-plenty. If exploring the outdoors is more your scene, the South Downs National Park is a five-minute drive, and the wild-life filled trails of Chichester Harbour AONB is a ten-minute drive.

The island itself is a true holiday haven, with unspoilt beaches, scenic cycle trails, and a kid-friendly amusement park. Little ones will also like this home’s hidden playroom and bunk bed slide – but guests of all ages will love this coastal gem.

Glamping never looked so good than at this charming cabin nestled within a wild-flower meadow of a 2500-acre family-owned farm estate. Don't be fooled by its unassuming aluminum exterior. Inside, the cabin is surprisingly spacious and lovingly converted by your hosts to provide all the creature comforts. Expect spotless interiors with a well-equipped traditional kitchen complete with a Belfast sink, a neat en-suite shower, and luxurious Egyptian linens on the king-sized bed and bunk beds for the kids. A welcome hamper brimming with local goodies, including milk, eggs, freshly baked bread, and marshmallows for those obligatory s'mores, will help to settle you in. And you'll bank a blissful night's sleep here – your only neighbours are the occasional peacock or deer strutting by. While away your days watching nature unfold outside on the terraces - the private elevated balcony looking out into surrounding woodland (a great spot for den building) is a beautiful place for a cuppa. Or don your hiking boots for a country walk – perhaps with a pit stop at the welcoming local pub (within walking distance) for a swift pint. Just be sure to make it home for dusk as the sun sets over the surrounding countryside. Placed in one of the UK's largest 'dark-sky' areas, there's much stargazing to be done while getting toasty beside the firepit.

Although this three-storey home was only built in recent years, much of the interior design takes inspiration from retro trends. Many of the furnishings are mid-century in style and there are 1970s flourishes peppered about in the form of overhanging metallic lamps and swirly feature walls in the living rooms. That being said, the pristine white kitchen is as modern as they come, as are the bathrooms. Outside, guests get the benefit of not one, but two terraces, with space to cook, eat and relax. The location gives plenty of options for excursions in the great outdoors, too. It's possible to get on a footpath running alongside the River Adur in less than a minute on foot which is a great base for kayaking and paddleboarding, and leads to a 37-mile long track through the South Downs National Park. Shoreham Beach is a mere ten-minute walk via the high street which boasts an abundance of pubs, restaurants and shops, and the Brighton seaside only takes twenty-three minutes to reach in the car.

Nestled into the rolling hills of the South Downs by Amberly Wild Brooks, this home blends rustic living with an incredible range of modern luxuries to create a unique space that inspires you to slow down and spend time with your loved ones. Boasting 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape, a meditation pod, a sundeck, and private bluebell woods, we can’t think of a better place to unwind. Head out to the hills to explore the impressive sceneries (host Jemma also offers bike rentals), then come home and soothe your aching muscles in the wood-burning hot tub. Jemma also offers a menu of wellness retreat packages at an extra cost (think along the lines of yoga and pilates classes, sound baths and meditation instructors). And if you want to learn a new skill, you can also book vegan and raw food cookery courses – there are even creative tutorials in things like art and photography. At night, we recommend cooking up a storm in the bespoke kitchen (or hiring a private chef to do the honours), socialising with friends, and taking in your stunning surroundings.

Set on a farm in West Sussex, this charming cottage is the perfect couple’s retreat or solo getaway. The interiors are bright and fun, with pops of block colour punctuating each room. Downstairs there’s a cosy living area with a wood burning stove, which you can put a log on and curl up in front of a film in the evening. The modern kitchen is well stocked for cooking up homely meals, or on warm days fire up the barbecue and enjoy lunch alfresco at the wooden table outside. Look out the kitchen window and you might spot Nellie and Maggie, the shaggy Shetland ponies whose paddock is twenty feet away. Feel free to give them a carrot or two! 

The cottage is on a farm run by your hosts. You are surrounded by the great outdoors here, and you’ll have direct access to footpaths and bridleways which take you through the farm and out into the picturesque countryside beyond. As you walk out, stop by the Stud house, where you can say hello to the native ponies in their stable. The village of Billingshurst is a four-minute drive away, where you’ll find a supermarket and some local country pubs. Pay a visit to the Nyetimber vineyard, a fourteen-minute drive away, and pick up some of their excellent sparkling wine. After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than enjoying a glass of bubbly back at home as the sun sets over the fields.

Want to recreate a passionate escape à la Bridgerton - just on a much smaller scale? Then we think you'll fall in love with this home in a 400-year-old former gatehouse lodge. Part of the glorious 5,500-acre St Giles House estate, it's been personally and immaculately renovated by the estate's owner (real-life nobility Lady Shaftesbury) to stunning effect. The natural and historical character - original lead windows, log burner and dove grey stone slabs - pack a punch, but it's her Ladyship's keen eye for style that has elevated this home into a truly romantic stay. We're talking about bold splashes of colour (a vibrant coral in the living room and soothing forest green in the bedroom) plus beautiful illustrated artwork and the highest quality Egyptian cotton sheets. This rural location is the perfect place to hide away from the rest of the world, but if you tire of each other's company, the beaches of the Jurassic Coast, the New Forest and the classic British seaside resorts of Poole and Bournemouth are all within a short drive away.
