If you're a fan of sea views — and who can really say that they're not? — this Margate apartment will really sing to you. There are some really soothing coastal vistas out through the large sash windows in the living room and bedrooms.

That's not to say, however, that the home is a glorified viewing platform. The renovated interior is bright and contemporary, with walls adorned with artworks and furnishings bearing a mid-century influence. In the kitchen, the oak dining table is a little rustic in feel, but the subway tiling and range of gizmos place it well and truly in the present day.

Once you're done complimenting the home, you can head out and explore the riches of Margate. The Kent town's main beach is seven minutes' walk due west, but Walpole Tidal Pool is a quarter of an hour's walk in the other direction. If the weather's not up to spec for an afternoon at the seaside, the Turner Contemporary Gallery is well worth a visit and is only six minutes away on foot.

Sea Salutation

Watching the ever-changing moods of the seas through the window of this newly renovated, high-style Margate apartment is a moment you'll never tire of, trust us. Set in Cliftonville, a smart pocket of the seaside town just a two-minute walk from the seafront promenade, it's easy to see the draw of this neighbourhood.

Grab a coffee to go from one of Cliftonville's buzzy cafes, then mooch along to the fantastic Walpole Tidal Pool (nine minutes away) or a smidge further in the opposite direction, the silk-sanded shores of Margate Beach (eighteen minutes on foot). For a hefty dose of seaside nostalgia, the kitsch amusement park, Margate Dreamland (a twenty-five minutes walk), is just the ticket. Or, for something a little more highbrow, the Turner Contemporary Gallery will do nicely (an eighteen-minute walk). As will the Old Town's wander-worthy lanes –⁠ its vintage shops and happening restaurants is an afternoon well spent.

Back at home, you'll love how quiet this apartment feels, set out across the top two floors of a Victorian property. The bay window nook is the perfect spot for a tete-a-tete over morning coffees as you soak up the sea vistas. While upstairs, one big hug of a king-sized bed awaits when it's time to get your forty winks. And just wait till you see the views of Margate's spectacular sunsets blazing through the bedroom window.

Mermaid of Margate

Ideally located in the old town, just a two-minute walk from the beach and the Turner Contemporary, this home has the very best of Margate within easy reach. When you’re not strolling along the promenade or perusing the trendy shops, we imagine you’ll be digging into fish and chips on the home’s private patio. Inside, you’ll find a sociable living space for spending quality time together and a kitchen for easy self-catering. If we had to be picky, we’d say the bathroom could do with an update, but everything works as it should. 


Melody of the Sea

This characterful Margate maisonette promises a peaceful stay by the seaside, with unique decor which will no doubt lodge in your memory. Set over two levels, the homely abode has plenty of space for families or groups of friends. We love the rustic feel – between the whitewashed ceiling beams, exposed brick and raw plastered walls, the building's 19th-century heritage shines through the more modern touches. Antique furniture sits alongside gold and matte black finishes, resulting in a tasteful medley of old and new.

When you're not lounging on the sofa or cooking nourishing meals in the seafoam kitchen, head outside and explore this famous coastal town. The picturesque sandy beach is just a five-minute walk away, so make sure you back your bucket and spade. After a day of sunbathing, pick up a bag of fish and chips or take a seat at one of the many seafood restaurants. If you're travelling with kids, we should warn you – once they catch sight of Margate's Dreamland amusement park they won't want to leave without a visit.

Sea Salt & Brick

Uninterrupted sea views take all the glory at this grade II listed Georgian apartment. Placed right in the heart of vibrant Margate and just steps from the beach, its central location impresses too. Inside, the interiors fuse vintage with contemporary to perfection – much like Margate itself. Kids will love the bunk beds in the adjoining secondary bedroom –⁠ connected to the master suite with a nifty sliding pocket door. While over in the main bedroom, a king-sized bed is positioned 'just so' to take in those ever-changing sky and sea views. And for those looking to work remotely, there is a separate desk space should you need to squirrel yourself away for a while. When the beach outside calls, pack up the apartment’s buckets and spades and stride straight out onto the silk-sanded shores (if you time the tide right). Or take a mosey along the promenade down to the Instagram-friendly kitsch amusement park, Margate Dreamland (sixteen-minute on foot), for a hefty dose of seaside nostalgia. When it’s time for something a little more cultured, the Turner Contemporary Gallery should do nicely –⁠ it’s just a seven-minute walk away. Or delve into the Old Town’s beguiling streets –⁠ packed with vintage shops, happening restaurants, and charming cafes. Just be sure to make it home for dusk. Watching the famous Margate sunset as you come together for pre-dinner drinks and board games is a memory to be made.

The master bedroom is the show-stopper, its roll-top bath invites you to soak whilst sea-gazing over Margate’s seashore. The honesty bar is a welcome treat after a day at the beach or exploring the local boutique shops. Located in the relaxed creative quarter, you're close to the Turner Contemporary gallery and the beach. 


The Well

Welcome to Margate, where golden sand beaches and quintessentially seaside shops and eateries are just begging to be discovered. And this homey apartment, nestled in Palm Bay, is the perfect base to do just that. 

Whether you fancy an ice cream cone by the sea, a dip in the blue waters or a long walk along the coast, you'll be well-placed for exploring here. Margate Beach and all its fun-filled activities are about a ten-minute drive away, while closer to home, Plam Bay Beach is twenty minutes on foot.

With such incredible local attractions keeping you busy, you'll need a serene pad to come home to. We think this flat is just the ticket, especially for small families. The open-plan layout is a dream for laid-back evenings – parents can rustle up dinner in the kitchen while kids get cosy on the overstuffed sofas and never miss a beat in the conversation. Later on, once the little ones are tucked in, gather on the patio for a late-night glass of wine and plan tomorrow's itinerary. Between the comfy living spaces, stylish bathroom and excellent location, we think you'll love calling this place home on your Margate getaway.

Located just a two-minute walk from Cliftonville beach in sunny Margate, this Victorian townhouse is a dreamy mix of seaside and contemporary living. 

Packed with character and with plenty of style, this townhouse offers a chic alternative to quaint coastal living. Rich, dark colours sweep the living room, providing you with a sleek, cosy sanctuary for those evenings in front of the TV. We love the bright kitchen and dining space, a contrast to the living room – this part of the home is for chatting, catching up, sipping drinks, and enjoying good food. 

Patio doors from the kitchen lead you out to the suntrap garden, a gorgeous space for an invigorating morning coffee. We love the owner's commitment to style, with the garden's black and white patio tiles providing the perfect spot for dinners and drinks alfresco. 

Stepping outside, you're just a short walk from the craft shops, galleries, local boutiques, pubs, and eateries of bustling Margate. The old town embodies the very best of traditional seaside charm, with fairground rides, old fish and chip shops, as well as vintage shops, cool cafes, and quirky museums. 

Timeless Charm

Wow. That’s what we said when we stepped out onto the wraparound terrace of this penthouse apartment in Margate. The views out over the sea and the town are the undisputed highlight of this home, which is part of the redevelopment of Margate's Sea Bathing Hospital complex. But that’s not to say there aren’t other great reasons to stay. We loved the whirlpool bath in the master bedroom for that special romantic touch, and the minimalist design style with its bright '60s-style prints and artworks – a nod to the town’s heritage as a mid-20th century holiday spot, perhaps? In the latter half of the 1900s, Margate was considered to be somewhat rundown but now with the arrival of the Turner Contemporary art gallery, plenty of good restaurants and the reopening of Dreamland amusement park, it’s very much back on the up. All these highlights are right on your doorstep at this home, while the trendy Old Town – full of old-fashioned pubs and vintage shops that capitalise on the town’s retro charms – is just a 15-minute walk away. Make the most of Margate at this lovely flat and we bet you’ll be wowing too. 

Copper Arch

Style meets comfort in this wonderfully located apartment in Margate. Designed in a chic, boutique-style manner, the whole space feels brilliantly modern while retaining a sense of vintage charm that so aptly reflects Margate’s seaside fame. We love the bright living room with its large windows that provide the most spectacular sunset views across the Winter Gardens and out towards the sea, best enjoyed on the sofa with a glass of wine or through the handy telescope provided. Full of fun decorative details that subtly nod to the coast, this space is made for relaxation and easy-going socialising. Our other favourite spot for sea-sighting is in the beautiful master bedroom where an armchair invites you to curl up on it with a good book and enjoy the rolling of the waves from yet another angle. Factor in the sunny kitchen and the sparkling blue and white bathroom and you’ve got everything you need for a blissful coastal break. Outside of your home, you’re just a six-minute walk from the Turner Contemporary art gallery, an eight-minute stroll from the Main Sands beach, while the Dreamland Margate amusement park is fifteen minutes on foot from your door. 


Atlas Sands

Mesmerising sea views are what steal the show at this fabulously located Margate apartment. Any closer to the water and you'd be swimming in it – at least, that's how it feels from the comfy seats in the big bay window. It's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and watch the tides change – or, if you're in town on business, you'll find it makes an excellent desk, although, with vistas like that, we'd definitely focus more on the scenery than our work.

As impressive as the panoramas are, they're not the only reason this apartment caught our eye. It's filled with light and boasts sleek, contemporary decoration inspired by the coast. Unwind on the blue sofa after a long walk along the shore, rustle up a hearty meal in the stylish kitchen and, come bedtime, retreat to the cosy bedrooms (two of which face the seaside) and fall asleep to the gentle lull of the waves.

As for location, it's as ideal as can be. You're just five minutes on foot from Walpole Tidal Pool, ten from Palm Bay Beach and twenty-two from Margate Main Sands. Northdown Road has an array of shops, pubs and restaurants – it's a ten-minute stroll away – with plenty more eateries and activities to choose from in the centre, also within easy reach. 

Beyond The Sea

It's not just the mid-century furniture and muted colour palette in this home that takes influence from the Scandinavians. Out in the garden, there's an electric-powered sauna, as well as a bathtub on the patio that you can fill with cold water for the full authentic experience. Once you've finished flitting between the two, you can rest up in the cosy summer house. The host has put together a list of local therapists and this private space is perfect for treatments. Back inside, there's plenty of equipment to keep those particular about their coffee happy, including an espresso machine, milk frother, percolator, grinder and fresh beans from a local roaster. When you're feeling suitably caffeinated, the charming seaside town of Margate is waiting to be explored. The main beach takes about a quarter of an hour to reach on foot, as does the Dreamland Amusement Park, which often hosts concerts, club nights and events.
