Designed in a chic, boutique-style manner, the whole space feels brilliantly modern while retaining a sense of vintage charm that so aptly reflects Margate’s seaside fame. We love the bright living room with its large windows that provide the most spectacular sunset views across the Winter Gardens and out towards the sea, best enjoyed on the sofa with a glass of wine or through the handy telescope provided. Full of fun decorative details that subtly nod to the coast, this space is made for relaxation and easy-going socialising. Our other favourite spot for sea-sighting is in the beautiful master bedroom where an armchair invites you to curl up on it with a good book and enjoy the rolling of the waves from yet another angle. Factor in the sunny kitchen and the sparkling blue and white bathroom and you’ve got everything you need for a blissful coastal break. Outside of your home, you’re just a six-minute walk from the Turner Contemporary art gallery, an eight-minute stroll from the Main Sands beach, while the Dreamland Margate amusement park is fifteen minutes on foot from your door.

Watching the ever-changing moods of the seas through the window of this newly renovated, high-style Margate apartment is a moment you'll never tire of, trust us. Set in Cliftonville, a smart pocket of the seaside town just a two-minute walk from the seafront promenade, it's easy to see the draw of this neighbourhood.

Grab a coffee to go from one of Cliftonville's buzzy cafes, then mooch along to the fantastic Walpole Tidal Pool (nine minutes away) or a smidge further in the opposite direction, the silk-sanded shores of Margate Beach (eighteen minutes on foot). For a hefty dose of seaside nostalgia, the kitsch amusement park, Margate Dreamland (a twenty-five minutes walk), is just the ticket. Or, for something a little more highbrow, the Turner Contemporary Gallery will do nicely (an eighteen-minute walk). As will the Old Town's wander-worthy lanes –⁠ its vintage shops and happening restaurants is an afternoon well spent.

Back at home, you'll love how quiet this apartment feels, set out across the top two floors of a Victorian property. The bay window nook is the perfect spot for a tete-a-tete over morning coffees as you soak up the sea vistas. While upstairs, one big hug of a king-sized bed awaits when it's time to get your forty winks. And just wait till you see the views of Margate's spectacular sunsets blazing through the bedroom window.

Margate is a charming town, with plenty to see and do, including visiting the Shell Grotto and the amusement park, and dining out in one of many delightful independent eateries. You’ll also be well placed for exploring the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house is colourful and comfortable, equipped with everything you might need – though, at full occupancy, two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room.

Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside, especially when the homes are as pretty as this. Part of a grand Victorian building positioned next to a square from the same era, the apartment benefits from period features such as the ornamental fireplace and a big bay window that lets in ample amounts of natural light into the living room. It also means that it's possible to see the coastline from the dining table. The furnishings fit into the current trend for mid-century influences, while the kitchen and bathroom are each dazzlingly white. If the sunshine makes an appearance, you can walk fifteen minutes to Margate's main beach or Walpole Tidal Pool, and go for a dip. When it's raining, why not head to the Turner Contemporary art gallery instead?

Tucked away beneath the scenic clifftop promenade, this top-floor pad offers unmatched access to the golden sands of Broadstairs' horseshoe-shaped beach and the independent boutiques, charming cafes and fantastic restaurants that line its narrow streets.

Wake up to stunning sunrises in the main en-suite bedroom before brewing yourself a coffee and sitting out on the private balcony as the seabirds circle overhead. If it's a little chilly, you can still enjoy the vistas from the comfort of the leather sofa or elect to stay in bed and enjoy a slow start to the day.

Plan your afternoon over breakfast at the Ercol dining table and chairs, backed by a large mirrored wall that reflects the already ample daylight into the room. Elsewhere, a chic baby blue kitchen contains all you might need to make homemade meals. However, with everything from fuss-free fish & chips to fine dining to choose from on your doorstep and in nearby Margate, you might not be spending much time in it.

While Margate is a short drive away, we'd suggest taking your time and following the Viking Trail along expansive beaches and steep chalk cliffs all the way to its sheltered harbour. From here, you're perfectly placed to visit the Turner Contemporary and wander the quaint Old Town, where you can take your pick from several outstanding eateries (though we'd recommend booking ahead) before boarding a bus or catching a taxi back to Broadstairs.

Boasting views of the sea from nearly every room, this apartment in Margate makes an excellent base. And it's not just the scenery that caught our eye. With playful pops of pink, green, and other bright colours, this pad is full of personality. You'll have everything you need here to settle in comfortably, from a well-appointed kitchen to a lush soaker bath. The twin beds in the second bedroom can be transformed into a king upon request, making this flexible for families or friends. As for location, Walpole Bay's sandy beach is a short walk away. You're also close to shops, eateries, and Margate's vibrant Old Town.

Neptune's Nook

Mesmerising sea views are what steal the show at this fabulously located Margate apartment. Any closer to the water and you'd be swimming in it – at least, that's how it feels from the comfy seats in the big bay window. It's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and watch the tides change – or, if you're in town on business, you'll find it makes an excellent desk, although, with vistas like that, we'd definitely focus more on the scenery than our work.

As impressive as the panoramas are, they're not the only reason this apartment caught our eye. It's filled with light and boasts sleek, contemporary decoration inspired by the coast. Unwind on the blue sofa after a long walk along the shore, rustle up a hearty meal in the stylish kitchen and, come bedtime, retreat to the cosy bedrooms (two of which face the seaside) and fall asleep to the gentle lull of the waves.

As for location, it's as ideal as can be. You're just five minutes on foot from Walpole Tidal Pool, ten from Palm Bay Beach and twenty-two from Margate Main Sands. Northdown Road has an array of shops, pubs and restaurants – it's a ten-minute stroll away – with plenty more eateries and activities to choose from in the centre, also within easy reach.

Hop off the train, and within a ten-minute walk, you'll find yourself wrapped up in the magic of this artistic townhouse in Ramsgate. Elegant wallpaper, muted tiling, window shutters and the glittering chandeliers in most rooms (including the bathroom) give the home a grand and opulent air. The pleasingly eclectic variety of wall colours – alongside the antique furniture, contemporary art and climbing houseplants – also lend a bohemian atmosphere that perfectly matches the seaside location. And there's no shortage of ways for kids and adults to entertain themselves. You can spend happy moments in the kids' room discovering all the stuffed toys, take a relaxing soak in the clawfoot tub, nip over to the pilates studio next door, or sample some of England's finest ale in the garden. The home is ideally located for a large family or group of friends wanting to explore the 'garden of England' – with Ramsgate Harbour and the beach just a stroll away. Nearby, you can experience all the fun of the fair at Dreamland – home to the UK's oldest rollercoaster – or admire stunning works of art in the Turner Contemporary, both on Margate's seafront. The town is also home to a host of Michelin-recommended restaurants, serving up everything from authentic Italian fare to fresh fish straight out of the North Sea.

This charming cottage sits on a chalk headland within the grounds of a lighthouse above Broadstairs. You'll be glad to know this lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so there'll be no jumping out of your skin. You may leap for joy, though, when you see the shared one-acre lawned garden and patio (all set well away from the cliffs, so the property is child-friendly too). Inside the home, there are some lovely views from upstairs, but we'd say the kitchen is quite narrow in areas, though it's well-equipped. Or if you prefer to eat out, there's a pub within a ten-minute stroll. Nearby, Broadstairs has sandy beaches and an old town to explore too.

With such incredible local attractions keeping you busy, you'll need a serene pad to come home to. We think this flat is just the ticket, especially for small families. The open-plan layout is a dream for laid-back evenings – parents can rustle up dinner in the kitchen while kids get cosy on the overstuffed sofas and never miss a beat in the conversation. Later on, once the little ones are tucked in, gather on the patio for a late-night glass of wine and plan tomorrow's itinerary. Stroll through the entrance gate and into the front garden to take in beautiful sea views (there’s a telescope here too for stargazing), then step inside your home where quirky artistic touches create the perfect beach-vibe welcome. From the anchor ornaments to the roaring fireplace and the dining room’s window-side seat that begs to be sat in with a good book, this cottage has been set up to provide a picture-perfect seaside escape. The master bedroom is a delight with its perfectly positioned bed to let you sit up and watch the waves, while the second bedroom’s holiday prints and whitewashed floorboards provide a happy backdrop for a dreamy night’s sleep. With a backyard too equipped with a table and chairs for alfresco meals, there’s no end to the fun and relaxation on offer. When you’re not chilling out at home in your charming cottage, go out and sink your toes in the sand at Kingsgate Bay Beach (a two-minute walk) and Joss Bay (an eight-minute walk) or drive eight minutes to explore Margate and its beach. Factor in the countless pubs, beachside cafes and year-round festivals in the area, and you’ve got everything you need for a storybook coastal getaway.

Interiors are bright and funky, with a couple of nautical nods to remind you of your enviable location. Breathe in the salty air from one of two outside spaces – there’s a cosy courtyard with twinkly lights at the back and a dinky patio to the front. When the afternoon comes to an end, tuck into a fish supper in the living space or take it to the seafront for a sweeping coastal sunset. Wet your whistle at any one of a number of pubs and bars along the High Street, a five-minute walk away, or tuck into creamy gelato at Morelli’s famous parlour – it’s only 250 metres from your doorstep.

Friends, couples, and small families will feel right at home in this coastal apartment. Just minutes from your doorstep lie the golden beaches of Ramsgate, while the town's selection of shops and trendy eateries are easily reachable on foot. You'll find street parking outside, but day trips are a breeze even without a car. Bus stops and Ramsgate Rail Station are within walking distance, offering regular services to Margate, Broadstairs, and the charming city of Canterbury.

Steps away from the sandy banks of St Mildred's Bay, this modern cottage is the ideal family getaway. The seaside theme naturally sweeps through the home with cobalt blue furniture and natural woods, leading to the star of the show, the mural. The kids (and the grown-ups!) will love the colourful mural for its lovely detail and the whimsical feel that it adds to the home. Breakfasts eaten around the dining table surrounded by painted sea creatures will certainly motivate you to get out there and explore, so it's lucky you don't have to go far. 

The charming seaside town of Westgate-on-Sea is just a thirteen-minute walk away where you'll find quaint cafes, an old-fashioned cinema, and a lovely sandy beach. Or, you can take the thirty-minute coastal walk to Margate. There, you'll find an even bigger beach, with even more independent shops and cafes to explore. However you spend the day, you'll love getting home to your cottage. Enjoy the last of the afternoon sun in the courtyard, listening to the sounds of the seagulls nearby with a nice drink in hand. Let the barbecue take care of dinner for a relaxing evening in, playing games and enjoying drinks around the table. Or, head out to one of the many restaurants nearby, the closest is just a two-minute walk away.

If a sea view is what you're after, this home will not disappoint. Perched on a clifftop in Birchington-on-Sea, the coastal scenery can be admired from most of the rooms. Our favourite viewpoint is the conservatory – we can't think of a better spot to enjoy a cup of tea and watch the tide roll in. Outside, the fuss-free garden offers space for kids and pups to let loose. Ready to explore? Birchington has two tidal shores that are ideal for walking and rockpooling. For a proper day at the beach, we suggest heading over to Margate, just 4 miles away.

Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

Steeped in fairytale charm, this stone brick cottage is a gorgeous choice for a family or friends getaway. Tucked away in a vast field, this Victorian home is encircled by whimsical trees with plenty of land to enjoy. 

You'll love the peace and seclusion of this home as much as its quaint interior. It's wonderfully cheerful, with a mix of traditional and modern touches. The stone brick decorative fireplace and patchwork sofa blend harmoniously with the contemporary artwork and funky coffee table. While this home might hold onto its rural Victorian charm, modern preferences brighten up the house beautifully. 

Around the house, the vast gardens provide a setting for familial joy. With plenty of nooks and crannies for the kids to play hide and seek, a barbecue area for the grown-ups to gather around while sipping on wine, and the cosy converted shed, there's so much to love about this countryside escape. 

You might not want to leave this slice of heaven, but there's much to explore in the area. The medieval town of Sandwich is under twenty minutes away by foot, while the idyllic seaside town of Deal is around a fifteen-minute drive away. When you return home after a day of exploring historic streets or eating fish and chips on the pier, your cottage awaits for afternoon drinks in the lovely garden followed by cosy evenings around the dining table.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

The Fossil Collector

Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

This charming 16th-century farmhouse is best suited for families. Spread over three floors, this home may not be the best choice for guests who struggle with stairs, but you can't get much better for peace and quiet. The extensive gardens, pool table and hot tub are great for ensuring fun for both kids and grown-ups. For an extra layer of luxury, your host offers in-house spa treatments, dinner party catering and wine tastings. The driveway is shared with the house's owner next door, so you're ensured easy correspondence throughout your stay.

Tucked away on a quiet pedestrianised lane just off the winding streets of Deal, the flower-adorned way to the front door will feel like a hug for your soul. Stepping inside the home, you’ll notice a homely blend of traditional exposed beams and a brick fireplace that now houses a little wood-burning stove, alongside more modern furnishings.

With the beach minutes away, you might spend days sunbathing or walking the pier and promenade with soft serve in hand, but we recommend time at home to simply unwind with a good book as you curl up on the sofa. Take your morning coffee out into the small courtyard and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take your very first sip. Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

Almost everything is within walking distance, be it the Royal Harbour and the beach or seaside restaurants and shops. Sure, the interiors aren't the most modern, but you'll have space to spread out across the cosy sitting room, eat-in kitchen, and four comfortable bedrooms – though it's worth noting that there's only one bathroom. The cherry on top is the small patio, perfect for morning coffees and alfresco sundowners.

Tick off all of Kent’s coastal hotspots from this apartment set in the East Cliff neighbourhood of Ramsgate. The sea, high street, and harbour are footsteps from your door, and when it’s time to cast your net further to Margate and Broadstairs, there’s free street parking outside. Rather leave the car at home? The coastal bus route stops nearby. A great option for a family stay, the second bedroom sleeps three in a bunk bed made up of a double and single – perfect for little ones sharing. If we were nit-picking, the open-plan living area might feel snug at full occupancy. But those Regency ceilings and windows of grand proportions make all the difference.

Tucked away at the end of a bridleway, this charming converted barn offers an idyllic romantic getaway within easy reach of Kent’s stunning coastline. 

Surrounded by a beautiful leafy garden, you’ll feel perfectly secluded as you enjoy sunny breakfasts at the outdoor table or celebratory sundowners as the breeze carries birdsong and the perfume of flowers all around you. Spend afternoons hanging out in the hammock by the pond or settle yourself onto one of the deck chairs to catch some rays with your holiday read. 

Cooler evenings call for snuggling up on the sofa by the living room’s wood-burning fireplace with a glass of wine and gathering for an intimate meal under the cross-beamed ceiling when you’re not out sampling the seafood fare in one of the neighbouring coastal towns. 

We love the pieces of art here created by local painters, and we can’t imagine anything dreamier than taking a long soak in the bathroom’s freestanding tub. 

And when you can bear to tear yourself away from your bolthole hideaway, you’ll find all the seaside delights of Sandwich Bay and Deal just a short drive away.

This period property was built in the style of a South African homestead, so if you’re a fan of unusual features and are looking for a sizeable home, this one’s for you. The ground-floor annex is perfect for grandparents, and the children’s playroom and enclosed garden ensure that kids will love it too. With just four bathrooms for a large group, you might find yourself waiting a while in the mornings – and the bathrooms are showing some signs of wear and tear. This is a lived-in – and loved – family home, so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes. The pebble beach of Sandwich Bay is just 0.2 miles away though, and golfers will enjoy being so close to two golf courses.
