This blue bungalow is the perfect getaway for two, with high A-frame ceilings, sand-coloured wooden floors and bright living spaces. We'd describe the aesthetic as contemporary coastal – rattan lighting fixtures, leafy houseplants and plush furnishings bring a beachy bohemian air, while the sleek kitchen and crisp, clean lines are elegant and modern. After a long day on the coast, snuggle up in front of the electric fire for a cosy night at home. If you're in the mood to cook, the blue and yellow kitchen has everything you'll need, so let your culinary skills run wild. On sunny days, enjoy your feast in the garden, which is shielded from the main house by clever bamboo screens. There's even a desk in the bedroom if you need to do some remote working. But our favourite part is the location – you're just a fifteen-minute walk from Deal Castle Beach and the wonderful Kent coastline. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many seaside restaurants, shop the local boutiques, browse the many art galleries and enjoy a romp around Deal Castle. With the rest of the White Cliffs Country easily accessed by car, it's the ideal spot for a romantic retreat by the sea.

Once inside you'll find it hard to believe this was once a 19th-century fisherman's cottage - the owners have done an extraordinary job transforming in into an East London-style design palace with statement House of Hackney-style wallpaper, taxidermy animals, sculptural lighting and artwork that you'd expect to see in the Saatchi Gallery (we're talking Tracy Emin and Peter Blake originals). But for all the provocative design choices, this home is wonderfully liveable - style has certainly not been prioritised over comfort. In the bedrooms, King-sized beds are perfected with exceptional Egyptian cotton bedding. In the living room, we loved the butter softness of the velvet sofas - they're an absolute dream to relax on. And that zinc bathtub next to the lioness guarantees the most luxurious - and memorable - soak of your life. With so much going on inside it's easy to forget that this home has an unrivalled location right on the beach at Kingsdown (the sea views from the master bedroom are divine), but for an unforgettable beach escape, this dramatic home is impossible to beat.

But with the sun and surf calling, you'll want to spend all your time on the beach. Pack a picnic and while away mornings catching the sun on the shore, then enjoy afternoon wanders along the promenade – stopping for an ice cream cone, of course. Come evening, crawl into one of the neighbourhood pubs for a pint and a hearty dinner. Better yet, make your way home for cocktails and a barbecue in the courtyard garden, watching the sun go down.

When you’re not spending time on the beach, or strolling fifteen minutes to Deal, you’ll likely spend most of your time in the courtyard garden.

We love the 180-degree sea views from this gorgeous apartment housed in a Victorian seafront property in Walmer, Deal. This light and bright home is the perfect place to socialise with your family and friends. The lovely open plan living space with its large dining table is ideal for entertaining – cook up some fresh seafood or let your hosts organise a private chef to cater for you. The soft pink-themed master bedroom, with its roll-top bath and stunning sea views, is a wonderful romantic space – pour a glass of wine and relax. Located on the promenade at Walmer – this home is primed for idyllic days on Deal Castle Beach, just 20 yards away. There's a fish and chip shop a 30-second saunter, while there's a café and pub within a one and three minute wander respectively. For the little ones, Walmer Paddling Pool is a mere two-minute amble. Or take a pleasant seafront walk to Deal (ten minutes on foot) in one direction and Walmer Castle, just over a twenty-minute stroll, in the other.

As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Get your fill of fresh coastal air at this welcoming cottage in Deal. An idyllic seaside getaway, it has everything you need for a relaxing stay. This charming home was once a favourite pub for weary fishermen at the end of their shift, right on the pebbles of Kingsdown Beach. If you fancy a real ale or cold pint after a day on the beach, don’t worry, the current local pub is just two doors down. If you want a bit more choice, head to the seafood restaurants and swanky bars of Deal, an hour’s walk along the seaside promenade, or an eight-minute drive.

The home itself is packed with little treats and surprises. There’s the beachside garden out the back, where you can pad barefoot from the outdoor dining terrace straight onto the shingle of Kingsdown Beach for a paddle in the sea. Then there’s the secret sauna, tucked down an old alleyway. The pretty little sunroom is furnished with floral armchairs and a vintage-style radio to listen to the Shipping Forecast while gazing out to sea. We love the kitchen and living room, which is packed with vintage pieces and has the air of an old fisherman’s cottage. Poking about through the extensive vinyl collection and browsing the cookbooks is a particular delight.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

Set along a row of pastel-coloured terraced houses, this unique space was once an Ale House, and thanks to its Grade II-listed status, it has maintained plenty of its original features including exposed brick chimney breasts, beamed ceilings and a charming façade with gold leaf signage. Inside, a quirky layout awaits with two separate buildings connected by a central courtyard and a Moroccan-tiled hallway, with two bedrooms in the main house and the living area and a further bedroom in the mezzanine building. It’s a brilliant home for families as the kids will love the multiple levels, the playful attic bedroom and the comfy sofas to curl up on for movie nights. Georgian features mixed with colourful vintage details make it a cheery space to come home to after fun at the beach or days exploring the coast (a five-minute stroll away), and when you’re not out tasting the fresh fish and seafood on offer at one of the nearby restaurants, the cottage-style kitchen and dining room are great for gathering around for meals at the old oak table. We absolutely love how the host's personal style shines through this home, but it's so beautifully done that anyone can appreciate it. It's clear that a lot of love has gone into this, from the wallpapered panels in the cosy living room to the toys in the third bedroom. Even the bathrooms are an interior design marvel. The home is perfectly twee and cheerful, ideal for a family to spend a lovely seaside getaway.

You'll love mornings in your bright cottage. For an extra special breakfast, why not take the short two-minute walk to the High Street and pick up pastries from the bakery, maybe even some sausages and bacon from the butchers? Take them back home for a beautiful spread out in the fabulously decorated courtyard, feeling the morning sun on your face as you sip your fresh coffee. Then, when it's time to explore, just walking around the colourful streets of Deal is a treat. You could take the short fifteen-minute walk to Deal Castle before eating classic fish and chips on the beach. And if you like contemporary art, you'll love it here – the Linden Hall Studio is just a five-minute walk away and full of mesmerising art, etchings, and sculptures. Take your morning coffee out into the small courtyard and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take your very first sip. Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

An original marble mantlepiece is about the only thing in the lounge that seems traditional. Curved, sash windows bring in plenty of light, and cabinets and shelves full of vintage intrigues make the space feel truly unique. Renovated to the highest degree of quality and elegance, this home is far from the English seaside resort vibe you might expect. Ready for those cocktails?

We think the host of this home quite clearly has an eye for design. Inside, the living room has been painted a bold shade of teal and the walls have been adorned with an arty selection of colourful prints. Add to this a couple of antique furnishings and a collection of quirky mementoes peppered about the shelves, and you have a lively space that would liven up any Instagram grid. The rest of the home is far simpler in design, although finished to the same high standard — the marble bathroom comes with both a rainfall shower or a bathtub, for instance. The Deal seafront sits two mintues' walk around the corner, while the town's striking circular castle can be reached in seven on foot. Further afield, the White Cliffs of Dover are just over twenty-five minutes away in the car.

The ground-floor annex is perfect for grandparents, and the children’s playroom and enclosed garden ensure that kids will love it too. With just four bathrooms for a large group, you might find yourself waiting a while in the mornings – and the bathrooms are showing some signs of wear and tear. This is a lived-in – and loved – family home, so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes. The pebble beach of Sandwich Bay is just 0.2 miles away though, and golfers will enjoy being so close to two golf courses.

Nestled into the vast Kent countryside, this whitewashed cottage is every bit as wholesome as you'd want from a country getaway. With beautiful gardens, an original fireplace, and farmhouse-style furniture, it's the perfect place to recharge. This home isn't without its mod-cons though, with underfloor heating, a coffee machine, and fast wifi, there's everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We love how sociable this home is – the ideal setting for a family getaway or a group of friends to reunite. Cosy armchairs provide the perfect spot for late-night catch-ups, a lovely dining table is fitting for dinners, drinks, and board games, while the kitchen is big enough for everyone to pitch in when preparing meals. And while we love the cottage's warm and comforting interior, the gardens really make this home sing. There's more than enough space for the little ones to run around while the grown-ups refresh the jug of Pimms and work on the barbecue. There's even space for a friendly game of rounders. 

If you're up early enough, you can catch an incredible sunrise from the front garden. But if not (you're on holiday after all), pull up a seat in the back garden for the most wonderful sunset, with whirling shades of pink and orange sinking into the Kent countryside. 

This is a really beautiful area. The quaint town of Sandwich is just a ten-minute drive away and is widely considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in England. Head to Sandwich Bay for windy walks on the beach, before tucking into some traditional fish and chips.
