There's a lot to love about this West London loft conversion. First, there's the industrial-inspired design and smart layout. It's spread across two floors (and the stairs can be a little steep), with the living area perched on the top level to maximise natural light. We also like the location – it's about a thirty-minute train ride from central London, but it has a lot to offer. Kew Gardens and other green spaces are within walking distance, Chiswick's business parks can be reached by bus, and Heathrow is a short drive away.

We love how it has maintained a lot of the original features of the Grade-II listed building it is housed in, such as the sash windows and bedroom shutters. The interiors are very attractive with nods to mid-century design, which complement the period features for an elegant look. The location here won’t be for everyone, as the immediate area is lacking in attractions. But, you do have access to an allocated parking space and the train service into London Waterloo is frequent.

Located in Richmond upon Thames, one of London's most attractive boroughs, this home has a fabulous address. Keen gardeners will love it here – the house is just a three-minute stroll to the Lion Gate, one of the entrances to Kew Gardens. If that wasn't enough, your lovely hosts provide four free tickets to the gardens, and this membership also gives you 10% off the shop there. There are plenty of chic boutiques, restaurants and bars on your doorstep to sample. Or, go for a walk along Richmond Riverside and explore Richmond Park. You can reach Central London in thirty minutes by Tube or train too. 

Back at this home, enjoy a cup of tea in the garden with its pretty flower borders, or relax on the sofa in the living room and pick a book from the shelf. We love the French doors, which allow light to flood in, as well as the neutral hues enlivened by pops of blue and green. Later, rustle up a salmon tray bake in the modern and stylish kitchen with its navy blue units (there's a blender, food processor and juicer). This family home is all substance and style in a trendy western suburb of London. First of all, we love the book-filled living room with ming vases and object d’art adding a personal feel to the forest-green dresser. Big windows bathe this place in natural light. There’s a desk in here (and another in the second bedroom) for those that need to work remotely, and a collection of wines on display for a post-work wind-down. 

A wall of glass doors leads to the private patio garden, providing a lovely sun spot for those wishing to sit out and unwind long into the balmy summer evenings. Back inside, the dine-in kitchen is bright and sunny and the bathroom has a tub for a soak at the end of the day.

In terms of neighbourhood, you’re in leafy-green Chiswick – an affluent area with a friendly village-like feel, offering elegant eateries and a whole plethora of classy cafés and designer boutiques along the High Road. A fifteen-minute walk across the Kew Bridge sees you at the sprawling botanic gardens, while you can join the Thames River Path for a traffic-free stroll or cycle in just five minutes (your host kindly provides two bicycles for guest use). Hop on the Tube at Kew Bridge, a five-minute walk away, and be in the centre of London in around fifteen minutes.

Sleek and modern, this apartment is a great fit for families or small groups of friends in search of a city bolthole. Slide across the bi-folding doors and open up the living area to your private outside space, creating the perfect layout for socialising. You'll find everything needed for a comfortable stay, including a bright desk space for working remotely. It's worth noting that the twin single beds can be converted into a super-king-sized bed upon request. The home is also short on wardrobe space, so pack light. Location-wise, you're less than a twenty-five-minute walk from Westfield Shopping Centre, while the Stamford Brook Tube station lies just thirteen minutes away on foot.

You'll find this contemporary townhome in Barnes, just across the bridge from buzzy Hammersmith. It's located on a charming street close to the Thameside towpath and the area's pubs and restaurants, so there's plenty to do if you decide to stay local. Families and friends will have ample room to stretch out here. We love the cosy lounge, the light-filled kitchen, and the two comfortable bedrooms. Remote workers can get down to business in the separate study, which has a sofa bed for guests five and six. Factor in the sun-kissed patio, balcony, and private parking, and it's no surprise it caught our eye.

Close to upmarket Kensington and bohemian Notting Hill is the charming area of Brook Green. Known for its village atmosphere, period architecture and excellent transport links (Hammersmith, Goldhawk Road and Shepherds Bush stations are all within walking distance), this pocket of West London suits families, business travellers and those craving a quieter neighbourhood. Yet it's still close to excellent restaurants, cosy gastropubs, green spaces and plenty of shopping, with Westfield London (fifteen-minute stroll), Kensington High Street (twenty-minute walk) and Holland Park (thirty minutes on foot) all just a stone's throw away. This bright apartment in a picturesque mansion is the perfect place to rest your feet and recharge after a long day exploring. The fully-stocked kitchen has everything you'll need to rustle up a meal, while the cosy living area has a comfortable sofa, Freeview channels and DVD player for chilled nights at home. There's also a desk if you need to do some remote working, though we'd probably get distracted watching the world pass by outside the window. But our favourite feature is the sumptuous rolltop bath. We can't think of a better way to end the day than with a glass of wine, a good book and a relaxing soak. Pure bliss.

It’s all about the location at this swish apartment in Shepherd’s Bush. Goldhawk Road underground station is an easy walk away, whisking you into the centre of London in a matter of minutes. Sticking around to explore the neighbourhood, you’ll find ample green space and pretty high streets lined with cosy pubs. Part of a set of serviced apartments, you won’t find homely bric-a-brac or odds and ends filling the surfaces, rather a sleek, open-plan living room and a full kitchen for self-catering. Plus two comfy bedrooms.

This colourful home is in the heart of Chiswick, a leafy area with a homely, village atmosphere. If you're looking for somewhere to relax after a day in the city, the garden is the perfect spot, and a real luxury for a London flat. Although a basement home, the bay window in the living room means there's more light than you'd expect, and the window seating is a cosy spot to gather for meals – that's if you don't try one of the many independent eateries just down the road. If the garden has got you wishing for more greenery, it's just a short tube ride to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Feather Quill is a comfortable and cosy home located in a picturesque grove area but still close to the bustling office area of Hammersmith. An eclectic selection of paintings and objects contrast with the minimal white aesthetic of the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, which is part of a brand new extension. The quirky nature of the books and artworks around the desk area might not suit everyone, although it creates a relaxed, homely feel. We really liked the remote control blind system, which is excellent for a peaceful sleep.

You’ll also find a great selection of restaurants and shops within walking distance, while the River Thames is just moments away – perfect for leisurely strolls. Inside, you’ll find all the essentials you could need for a laidback stay. The rooms have been thoughtfully designed, making this the ideal spot to work, cook and unwind. 


Peace Now 

Set in a period property on a leafy street between Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush, this characterful apartment is a great base for exploring West London and beyond.
