Decidedly modern, this split-level flat caught our eye with its luxurious extras, industrial-chic design and super central location. Our favourite room is the glossy kitchen, which is decked out with all the amenities you'll need – double Siemens ovens, a humidity-controlled fridge, top-of-the-range cookware and even a Nordic Quooker boiling tap, just to name a few. We think keen chefs and amateur cooks alike will love rustling up a tasty breakfast or hearty dinner under the skylight. 

Both bedrooms are as comfortable as they are stylish – one even has access to a small, narrow patio – and the bathrooms are the definition of grand, with their lavish rainfall showers and polished marble walls. And we adore the exposed grey brick scattered around, most notably in the living room – it's the perfect area to relax after a busy day taking advantage the pubs, bookstores and museums that dot this corner of London. 

Speaking of location, Bloomsbury is an excellent base for a stay in the capital. The British Museum is only thirteen minutes on foot, while iconic spots like Covent Garden, St Paul's Cathedral and Trafalgar Square are also within walking distance – about half an hour, give or take. Whether you want to shop on Oxford Street, sample the gastronomic delights in Soho or just roam the city in search of adventure, you'll be well-placed for exploring – especially with Chancery Lane station less than ten minutes away.

We'd be won over by this well-proportioned luxury flat regardless of the location, but the fact that it's in a converted period building in central London is mighty impressive. Upon entrance, guests will be greeted by an open space illuminated by tall windows on the far wall and pretty chandeliers. At the far end lies a gorgeous kitchen complete with quartz surface tops and Miele appliances. The large bedrooms both have plenty of storage space and a workspace, but it's the bathrooms that take your breath away with their frameless glass and suave grey tiling. Step out the front door and Lincoln's Inn Fields stands before you — here, there's a small square to wander about, tennis courts to book out and the inimitable Sir John Soane's Museum to look around. If a visit there gets you in the mood for more ancient artefacts, The British Museum is only ten minutes' walk up the road.

Hot off the press, this apartment is a short stroll from Fleet Street. The Strand, the River Thames, the Royal Courts of Justice and the London School of Economics, along with the Tate Modern and the British Museum, are within walking distance too. Such an excellent location will mean this home will be subject to some city noise, but that's to be expected. Once a place for textile dying in the 15th century, this newly refurbished apartment, with a private lift, sits within an exclusive Victorian development. There's plenty of room for entertaining in the spacious open-plan living space, and if you need to work from home, the large dining table doubles up as a laptop workspace.

One word – location! For those visiting London, be it for business or pleasure, it would be hard to beat this home’s fantastic position. Nestled between Soho and Mayfair, moments away from Oxford Street and Regent Street, you’ll be able to explore the city on foot and sample all this vibrant area has to offer – from shops to restaurants and the West End theatres. The apartment offers plenty of space for a family or a group of friends, but do bear in mind that some outside noise is possible here, particularly in the bedroom which faces the street. 

The Old Theatre

From this traditionally-minded yet well-maintained Mayfair apartment, there's a little taste of luxury in every direction. To your east is Liberty department store and there are further designer shopping options to your north on Bond Street. Head south and in two minutes, you could be on Savile Row, while wandering further west along these embassy-lined streets will get you to Grosvenor Square. However, despite this unbeatable location, we found this home to be extremely peaceful and a welcome refuge from the non-stop going-ons of Central London. The chic kitchen was a highlight here, with smart brass finishes contrasting nicely with honeycomb marble tiling, but let's not kid ourselves — with this many renowned restaurants only a short stroll away, don't be surprised if this home's oven remains undisturbed during the duration of your stay.

Sitting on the second floor of a walk-up period building in Bloomsbury, this bright apartment not only provides views over charming Queen Square Gardens but also puts you in a central spot from which to explore the city. The British Museum, the Charles Dickens Museum and the British Library are all within walking distance, while the nearby transport links will whisk you to the buss of Soho and beyond in no time. Inside the home, modern decor and plenty of natural light are nice touches. And the extendable window-side table can easily double as a remote workspace if you’re visiting the city for business.

This three-bedroom flat is perfect for a family or group of friends. The spacious living room has a large sofa and a flat-screen TV, while the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook a home-cooked meal. Step into the wizarding world at this home tucked down the narrow lane that inspired Diagon Alley. Harry Potter fans will adore the magical memorabilia scattered about – it's understated but adds to the charm. It's not the biggest home, but having four floors gives the impression of extra space. There's also a sofa bed for guests five and six, but we reckon it's a better fit for four. The street is a popular stop for tour groups, so you'll get passersby on your doorstep. But, with Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and Soho all within strolling distance, we think that’s a worthwhile trade.

That said, the star attraction is undoubtedly the terrace. Smack-dab in Soho, this apartment is as central as can be. Regent's Street and Carnaby Street are moments away, while a leisurely walk will take you towards Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, and many of the city's other landmarks. With nearby eateries, pubs, and bars, it's no wonder the location caught our eye. As for the apartment, there's natural light, contemporary decor, and plenty of space for sprawling out. In town for work? The desk in the bedroom is ideal for business travellers. Just note that two guests will sleep on the sofa bed, making this a better fit for short stays.
