Close to upmarket Kensington and bohemian Notting Hill is the charming area of Brook Green. Known for its village atmosphere, period architecture and excellent transport links (Hammersmith, Goldhawk Road and Shepherds Bush stations are all within walking distance), this pocket of West London suits families, business travellers and those craving a quieter neighbourhood. Yet it's still close to excellent restaurants, cosy gastropubs, green spaces and plenty of shopping, with Westfield London (fifteen-minute stroll), Kensington High Street (twenty-minute walk) and Holland Park (thirty minutes on foot) all just a stone's throw away. This bright apartment in a picturesque mansion is the perfect place to rest your feet and recharge after a long day exploring. The fully-stocked kitchen has everything you'll need to rustle up a meal, while the cosy living area has a comfortable sofa, Freeview channels and DVD player for chilled nights at home. There's also a desk if you need to do some remote working, though we'd probably get distracted watching the world pass by outside the window. But our favourite feature is the sumptuous rolltop bath. We can't think of a better way to end the day than with a glass of wine, a good book and a relaxing soak. Pure bliss.

It’s not just its prime locale that caught our eye, though. And though you’ve got plenty of restaurant options on your doorstep, the alfresco dining area makes for a great summer spot – especially if you’ve picked up your grocery selection at Whole Foods around the corner – do keep in mind you’ll need to climb the ladder up.

London Is Yours

This Paddington apartment has space to work from home and excellent transport links across the city. It's a great find for business travellers, though families and friend groups will also feel right at home. Keep in mind that the living space is on the smaller side, and it's on the third floor of a building without a lift. Even so, given the location – a five-minute walk from Paddington Station and twenty minutes from Hyde Park – we think that's a fair compromise.

At this stylish apartment along St Luke's Rd, you're no more than ten minutes' walk away from the delights of colourful Portobello Road – where designer boutiques, traditional pubs and vintage clothes stalls all vie for your attention. If you fancy a walk, Holland Park is a twenty-minute stroll from your front door, while Central London is easily reachable on public transport. 

Fittingly, this apartment is full of style to match its local surroundings, with trendy art prints and a bright yellow pouffe at the centre of the living space.
