Originally built in the 1730s, this sumptuous apartment is a shining example of Georgian architecture. The building is one of the oldest in Mayfair – in 1821, famed Buckingham Palace architect Thomas Cubbit extended it – and you can see the character, history and period details in every room. It feels like a home you want to linger in, with new surprises waiting at every turn. We love the antique furniture – a clawfoot desk here, a fauteuil armchair there – but the smart kitchen, stylish bathroom and mod-cons like a rainfall shower, espresso machine and Netflix bring things in the 21st-century. We think it's the best of both worlds, and the location is even better.

Ritzy and charming, Mayfair is home to leafy squares, cobbled lanes lined with cafes and some of the oldest shops in London. Fashionistas will enjoy shopping along New Bond Street and Saville Row (a five-minute walk away), art fiends can browse the nearby galleries and auction houses (Phillips Auction House & Gallery is right next door) and foodies will love the bevvy of gourmet eateries nearby. With Bond Street Station only six minutes away on foot, travelling around the rest of the city is easy – perfect if you fancy a bit of sightseeing.

From this traditionally-minded yet well-maintained Mayfair apartment, there's a little taste of luxury in every direction. To your east is Liberty department store and there are further designer shopping options to your north on Bond Street. Head south and in two minutes, you could be on Savile Row, while wandering further west along these embassy-lined streets will get you to Grosvenor Square. However, despite this unbeatable location, we found this home to be extremely peaceful and a welcome refuge from the non-stop going-ons of Central London. The chic kitchen was a highlight here, with smart brass finishes contrasting nicely with honeycomb marble tiling, but let's not kid ourselves — with this many renowned restaurants only a short stroll away, don't be surprised if this home's oven remains undisturbed during the duration of your stay.

Central London homes don’t come much smarter than this, and neither do locations. Set along one of Mayfair’s most prestigious streets, you’ve got fine dining restaurants, high-end boutiques and leafy Hyde Park just a stroll away. Back home, a private lift opening directly into this elegant apartment saves you hauling bags upstairs. A great option for two couples or friends sharing, each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and small balconies to soak in the Mayfair bustle. It’s worth noting that, at full occupancy, the last two guests will share a sofa bed in the lounge. But for a home this exquisite, we don’t think you’ll mind.

Time travel back to the swinging psychedelic sixties with a stay in this beautifully curated apartment, located in the heart of Mayfair. Sitting within a building dating back to the 1730s, it’s the earliest surviving house in the area and was modernised in 1821 by Thomas Cubitt – the same master builder who constructed Buckingham Palace’s facade. 
 
Packed full of Art Nouveau and early Art Deco antiques – styles that signalled fashion and rebellion in the 1960s – there’s a definite touch of retro glamour in the living room, paired with vibrant pop art prints of the Beatles and swish velvet furnishings that effortlessly channel sixties cool. Plus a dedicated concierge service means there’s no need to worry about anything during your stay here.

Occupying just one square mile of London’s West End, Soho is a glorious hodgepodge of grit, glamour and temptation. Overlooking a quiet square among those buzzing streets is this immaculate apartment perfect for those looking for a retreat in the heart of one of London’s best-known neighbourhoods. On the ground floor, guests will find an open-plan kitchen and living room leading to a conservatory overlooking the garden. Upstairs there is a 30ft drawing room with a balcony, a main bedroom with a separate walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom, and two further bedrooms. Another standout is the private terrace and garden, complete with outdoor furniture and even a sauna. Location-wise, you couldn't be better placed being situated in one of London's most prestigious areas. You've got Hyde Park views while being within walking distance of Bond Street Tube station, Selfridges, and some of the city's best restaurants.

Being located on a street famous for its tailoring, it's fitting this home is so smartly curated and most importantly, comfortable. Just like a good suit the home has been impeccably finished. A two-tone linen corner sofa and honey-coloured oak flooring are a couple of the features that caught our eye. The large, private rooftop is a real boon and rarity in such a central location.

Comfortable and convenient, this apartment is a great choice of base in London. It’s in upmarket Marylebone, close to Oxford Street and Bond Street, and with the upmarket designer shops and eateries on Marylebone High Street nearby. You’ll be less than a five-minute walk from Bond Street tube station, so seeing the rest of London is a breeze. The apartment is bright and welcoming, with an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space at its heart. Both bedrooms are elegant and attractive, and you’ll have everything you need close to hand.

As anybody who has ever played Monopoly before will know, Mayfair is one of the most coveted neighbourhoods in London and this apartment puts you right in the heart of it. Wander about the adjoining streets and you'll come across Michelin-starred restaurants, designer clothing stores, fine art dealers and the world-renowned Ritz hotel. For those keen on the fancier things in life, you couldn't wish for a better location. The apartment itself is also pleasing. The expansive, open-plan living area is beautifully finished with parquet flooring and tasteful furnishings, while the large dining table is perfect for evening soirées. There's even an outdoor terrace, which is rare for somewhere so close to the epicentre of the UK's capital. If you want somewhere to really stretch your legs, you're close to a triumvirate of parks — Green, St James's and Hyde.

At the end of a busy day, you can retreat to your chic apartment, decorated in white with bright colourful accents, Prepare a meal in the modern kitchen or kick up your feet and watch a movie in the airy living room. We love the French windows, which let in plenty of light, and on sunny days you can throw them open and step onto the balcony for a breath of fresh air.

The location of this London apartment is so upmarket that there are five Michelin-starred restaurants within a five-minute walk and the nearest place to do a breakfast run is Fortnum & Mason. Oh, and The Ritz is just around the corner. Where else but Mayfair? For such a glamorous area, this home is a suitably luxurious place to stay. There's definitely a less-is-more approach to the interior, but when the fittings are this swish and the furniture such high-quality, sometimes it pays off to be a little restrained. We especially liked the large ceiling window in the dining room, which floods this space with natural light and makes it an ideal setting for a dinner party. Though saying that, with so many celebrated restaurants so close by, we would forgive you for not going anywhere near the kitchen during your time here.

All of the bedrooms here are en-suite, and there’s plenty of space to relax in the living area after a busy day seeing the sights. We think this home is a great choice for a family or group of friends wanting a comfortable stay in a central location.
