Needless to say, you’ll have shops and restaurants aplenty on the doorstep, and for reaching the capital’s must-sees, Ladbroke Grove Tube station is a five-minute walk away. With two kitchens, the home is a great option for a group or two families, as you can have a bit of space to yourselves if you need it. At full occupancy, guests seven and eight will be sleeping on the day bed in the small downstairs living/kitchen area, but with the larger living/kitchen/dining area upstairs, this needn’t be a deal-breaker.

This mews home is only a five-minute walk to Ladbroke Grove Underground Station, so many of London's major landmarks are easily accessible. Located in Notting Hill, you'll be just a few steps away from Portobello Road's daily market and restaurants. Save some energy for getting around this home, though, as it's set out over three floors. In fact there are two staircases in this house, both of which are narrow and steep, so this place won't appeal to guests with limited mobility. We do like that this abode has a first-floor balcony perfect for enjoying a glass of fizz, and both bedrooms are en-suite.

Portobello Peace

Those looking to explore Notting Hill will do well at this home, conveniently located between Westbourne Park and Portobello Road. The home itself verges on the simplistic but has an industrial charm with exposed ventilation in the kitchen and whitewashed floorboards. The garden could do with some more love but is still an enjoyable feature, especially come the summer time. Overall, it's not a show-stopping home but it's new and fresh with a proactive host.

People can often be daunted when it comes to incorporating colour into interior design, but this Notting Hill apartment shows how it can be done without going over the top.

The mustard and green furnishings in the living room are instantly uplifting and go nicely with the weathered wood of the coffee table. The addition of two arched window mirrors helps accentuate the plentiful amount of natural light that comes in through the large windows. Elsewhere, the kitchen in a deep shade of green has plenty of sleek surface space for preparing home-cooked dinners, while the bathrooms play it comparatively safer with the dazzlingly white tiles.

Vibrant Notting Hill and the world-famous Portobello Road, where you'll find stalls selling everything from antiques to vintage clothes, plus independent coffee shops, mouth-watering eateries and charming gastropubs. Impressing us at every turn, we were so pleased to discover Endless Light. It’s a sensory delight as soon as you walk through the door, with welcoming spaces designed with a calming colour palette and filled with modern furniture in a pristine condition. The views over St. James’s garden also add to the natural, peaceful feel of the home. The stylish bathroom was a standout feature, with a freestanding bath, walk-in rain shower and contemporary brass fixtures. It’s also a prime location for visiting London, with the tube, Notting Hill and Portobello all within walking distance.

In the heart of London's old Dickensian market district, this Notting Hill apartment is certainly a hidden treasure. The home's structure, interiors and antique furniture all share a yesteryear charm, while the modern island kitchen will make knocking up lazy brunches a joy. While the statement design and old-world objects add interest, the real star of the show here is that all-too-rare of London amenities – an outside space. Surrounded by thriving greenery and ancient tree canopies, the decked terrace is a real sanctuary of calm – perfect for throwing open the shutters, extending the communal space and sipping alfresco drinks on warmer evenings. It's no mean feat creating a place of calm in the middle of lively Notting Hill, but that's exactly what this home does. As soon as we stepped through the door, we instantly felt at ease in this basement-level apartment – its modern country style, neutral tones and thoughtful presentation make it cosy and welcoming. We loved the quaint, whitewashed courtyard with bistro seating – a great spot for an evening meal in the summer or leisurely breakfasts in the early morning. Both bedrooms overlook the patio so they are quiet and calm – you can guarantee a restful sleep night after night. The location is also ideal, right in the heart of Notting Hill and within a ten-minute walk of High Street Kensington.
