Cross the gangplank onto this incredible floating home near the Thames. Moored just a couple of blocks from Tower Bridge, this former 1930s steel barge is a ten-minute walk from the Tower of London. The top deck has been converted into a long, open living space with views of St Katharine Docks Marina from the huge windows. We love the semi-outdoor dining room, housed in a glass atrium-style space to the rear of the ship, with seating for ten. Choose to relax in the stylish white lounge on the upper deck, or head downstairs to the snug with its u-shaped sofa around a striking suspended fireplace. Bedrooms are on the lower deck, but that doesn’t mean dark cabins with tiny portholes. Spacious rooms have walls of windows and if there are portholes, they’re the size of a bass drum, letting in tonnes of natural light. If you manage to bag the master bedroom, its en-suite comes with a sauna. Welcome aboard, matey!

This stylish, couple's hideaway, housed in a Victorian warehouse, in a cobbled courtyard in Central London, is just over a five-minute walk from The Shard. For artisan produce, head to one of the city's largest and oldest food markets, Borough Market, a four-minute wander. If you love art, the Tate Modern is ten minutes on foot, while one of London's most iconic landmarks, Tower Bridge, is under a twenty-minute saunter. Of course, there are plenty of restaurants and chic bars on your doorstep in this desirable location – there's even a historic wine bar one-minute away. You don't have to go anywhere, though, to admire Britain's tallest building – The Shard is thrillingly visible from your bedroom window. We love the designer furniture here, from the Isamu Noguchi coffee table and Eames chairs to the Italian suede sofa – all shown off to perfection by the walnut floors and exposed brick walls. Pour a glass of Champagne and survey the city from the Juliet balcony, then whip up some dinner in the sleek kitchen. We were surprised how tranquil this sunny home is, given its fabulous location – it’s a quiet haven after all that sightseeing.

If you're looking for a trendy place to relax and unwind that's still just a short hop away from the city sights, then this home fits the bill. Located in Bermondsey, on the edge of tranquil Southwark Park, you're just 10 minutes by tube from London Bridge. Enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony each morning, as you plan your day. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows let plenty of light into the living room, and you'll enjoy cooking meals in the fully-equipped kitchen. Though you can explore all of London in no time at all from nearby Bermondsey tube station, don't miss your chance to enjoy the local area too. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, but for these views, we can easily forgive that.

Out and about, this area has a fantastic cultural scene. Walk to the BFI film theatre, the Southbank Centre and the National Theatre in fifteen minutes or dine at one of the Thames-side restaurants. It's around twelve minutes on foot to Borough Market, one of the largest and oldest food markets in London. Here at Plum Guide, we love a bit of industrial chic, and this apartment certainly doesn't disappoint. There are exposed beams, stripped-back brick walls and a sleek kitchenette hidden by rolling-back wooden doors.
 

 Pour a glass of wine and relax on the yellow armchair or comfy sofa, surrounded by vibrant art. Through the Crittall-style doors, you'll find the main bedroom with its super king-sized bed. Despite the leafy surrounds, you’ll be just a short walk from the eateries and supermarkets of Lordship Lane, and one minute from a bus stop. It takes just twelve minutes on the bus to reach the Dulwich Picture Gallery. The apartment is comfortable and convenient, with a contemporary, state-of-the-art kitchen and tranquil bedrooms. It’s ideal for long stays, a real home-from-home.

This modern home has a neutral and minimalistic style that will suit those who like their spaces clean and uncluttered. It’s a new building, so it’s been thoughtfully designed, with a surplus of natural light and brightness. But the star of the show here is that all-too-rare of London amenities, an outside space. We can think of nothing better than a balmy summer evening spent out in your private garden with friends or family. On top of that, you'll find a charming little balcony from the master bedroom to sip your morning coffee and ease into the day. Inside, it's a picture of pearly white furnishings, sleek surfaces and monochromatic artwork. You'll notice cream sofas, ghost chairs and a large ornate mirror in the bedrooms, creating an air of elegance around the home. Plus, there's a light and tidy study area for those looking to work from home during their stay. Outside, we really liked the home’s location – the top attractions on picturesque Bermondsey Street are just a five-minute walk away. Although the real highlight is the home's proximity to London Bridge – under twenty minutes (on foot) from The Shard and the surrounding hub, full to the brim with fine-dine restaurants and hip bars.

There are also great public transport links and you’ll find Borough Market, historic pubs and galleries are all within easy reach.

Foodies, rejoice – this home puts Borough Market on your doorstep. The area is rife with gourmet merchants, cosy gastropubs, and independent eateries. Keen on sightseeing? The Shard, the Thames, and Tower Bridge are within walking distance, while nearby London Bridge Station offers excellent transport links. The home consists of two separate apartments – although it won't suit everyone, there's plenty of space. In addition to a bedroom and a bathroom, each flat has its own kitchen and living space (just note that one is smaller). The cherry on top is the terrace overlooking the Shard – the perfect spot to nibble on goodies you got at the market.

Foodie's Paradise

Modern and bright, this apartment is close to several restaurants and cafes. But the proximity to some of London's most iconic sights is what makes it feel special, including Borough Market, the Tate Modern, and Tower Bridge. Though it's still roomy enough for six, we think this works best for a small family or two couples. If you do choose to sleep two additional guests on the sofa bed, you can always find extra breathing room on the terrace. It overlooks neighbours and isn't the most private, but it is a nice bonus – especially in central London.

This has got to be one of the most amazing views in London. Moored near Tower Bridge on the Thames’ south bank, this stunning home is the former 'HMS Harpy’. Once an Edwardian base for customs and excise officers, and a landing stage for King George V, it’s now a unique and beautifully maintained floating home. The oldest and one of the largest homes on the river, The Harpy is unlike purpose-built houseboats – all the cabins are above water level with river views. History fans and nautical nuts will have plenty to get their teeth into, those interested in luxury river living will appreciate the opportunity to sit out on deck, and if vintage furniture is your thing you'll be able to explore pieces from the 1920s, '30s, and '50s. The dining table was even designed for Winston Churchill's home, Chartwell. We love the vast living space on the upper deck – it's bright, comfortable, and full of character. Bedrooms and bathrooms are nostalgic and the kitchen is well fitted out for cooking onboard. There's mains electricity, obviously, as well as mains gas for heating and cooking, and filtered mains water. All the mod cons are present too, from Wifi and Sky Q TV to gate entry phones and Sonos. So well-known that it's been featured in several movies (most notably A Fish Called Wanda), a stay here is an all-round incredible experience and one you'll be talking about for years to come.

If sightseeing is on the cards, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are about thirty minutes on foot, while nearby Borough Market is a can't-miss for foodies. The nearest Tube station is just over a ten-minute walk away – or there's a parking space available if you'd prefer to drive.

Jewels of the City

This stunning Victorian warehouse has been converted into a stylish, vibrant home in Borough, one of London’s most interesting neighbourhoods. You’ll be just a short stroll from Borough Market, as well as being next to Southwark Cathedral and Clink Street. For exploration further afield, you need only walk 190 metres to London Bridge station to hop on the Jubilee Line. We love the terrace, from which you can admire the Shard, and the quirky, colourful decor. There are lots of stairs to climb so it won’t be suitable for everyone, but if you can manage them, you’ll be rewarded with one of the coolest bases in Borough. 

Belong To Me

Tucked within a traditional Victorian building, this apartment brings ease to city living. Located on the ground floor, you’ll find plenty of space to relax, cook or catch up on work. There is also a shared garden available for use throughout your stay. Outside, it’s just a ten-minute bus ride to Elephant & Castle underground station – ensuring smooth connections with the rest of London. It's worth noting there is no free parking here, but you will have access to a shared garden – perfect for summer evening drinks. 


Your City Song

Fall in love with this former warehouse, promising views of Borough Market and the Shard while you dine alfresco. Though the main bedroom wows us, some may wish to step around the glass panels on the floor. Plus, guests staying in bedrooms two and three might bump into each other in their shared en-suite. Dotted with accents reminiscent of its Victorian heritage, you'll find two living areas here – ideal for extended families. Restaurants and attractions are a stone's throw away, and London Bridge station can take you further afield.

The Curator's Gallery

This home is great for people who are travelling for business or who need to carry out work remotely, as it's unfussy in terms of design but has plenty of practical space. There's an adjustable standing desk in the living area and a further desk in the master bedroom. Close to London Bridge station, you have excellent transport links to anywhere in the city, also ideal if you are working in Canary Wharf and the City is even walkable. There is also lots to do in the immediate area, being close to the bustling Borough Market and the Tate Modern art museum. 

The Chameleon

We think this practical apartment is perfect for business travellers. Not only is there a desk in the lounge ideal for remote working, but it's just one stop away on the Jubilee Line from Canary Wharf. The design is simple, but it has all the essentials for a laid-back stay – a well-appointed kitchen, underfloor heating in the bathroom, and even free parking if you’d rather drive. Just note that two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge – not a deal breaker by any means, but it may not be suitable for everyone.

Docklands Dawn

You'll find this contemporary apartment in St Katharine Dock, just a stone's throw from Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and Tower Hill. Whether you're a first-time visitor keen to sightsee or a business traveller needing to work from home, this pad has you covered. There's a desk in the bedroom, a living area with a sofa bed, and a private balcony offering a view of Tower Bridge and the Shard. Style-wise, it's definitely on the simpler side, but we think the views and location speak for themselves.
