And we just love the sleek marble kitchen, complete with a sunny dining spot,  that's perfect for whipping up and enjoying home-cooked breakfasts. Come afternoon, enjoy a good book and perch on the rustic window-bench. You'll notice the giant cherry sculpture – another quirky touch that blends old and new in elegant fashion. In the bedrooms, the calming palette, soothing artwork, ethnic adornments and rattan headboard makes for a peaceful morning setting. Stroll across to the en-suite bathroom, open the charming slide and track door, and enjoy a long soak in the rainfall shower. The palette of earthy colours works harmoniously with the abundance of natural fabrics, and cool light fittings smoothly blend the original cornicing with modern design. The home is situated on a busy main road, so street noise can be heard in the street-facing living room. But, the bedroom is definitely quieter and the TV makes it a great space to curl up in after a day exploring with a movie in bed. While there isn’t much storage space, one of the kitchen cupboards actually doubles up as a wardrobe.

This two-storey pad is a great spot in the cultural heart of Angel. Though there's no lift in the building, you'll be treated to a balcony and rooftop terrace, which makes the climb all the more worth it. Just a five-minute walk from Angel station, House of Jute masterfully uses its space to create a harmonious, tasteful home that smoothly matches organic fabrics with subtle, neutral cabinets and wall colours. Set on the ground floor of a restored Georgian building (Grade II listed, no less), it's a stylish, modern home with period touches like shuttered windows.

With the bedroom and en-suite at the back of the apartment, away from the road, it's a peaceful space to return to at the end of a busy day. And while the en-suite may be a bit of a squeeze for some, there is another private bathroom up half a flight of stairs – a helpful addition.

Located in a beautiful white stucco townhouse, just a three-minute walk from Angel Tube station, this studio flat is a fantastic choice for a solo traveller or couple looking for a stylish space but who don't need lots of superfluous space. Despite the lofty three-metre-high ceilings and large sash window, your host – an experienced architect and interior designer – has really put a lot of thought into the layout and decor to make the most of the compact size. No detail has been overlooked in the pursuit of perfection, and every element must earn its place. As a result, the home manages to be both a chic yet relaxing space for two people to enjoy comfortably. We loved the use of beautiful natural materials, which are mixed with a subtle and mature colour palette. A bonus is a super-smart bathroom, complete with a sumptuous bathtub – perfect for a soak at the end of a busy day exploring the pubs, indie boutiques and antiques shops that dot this corner of North London.

Just a three-minute walk from Angel tube station, this elegant loft-style space is housed in a classic white stucco Islington townhouse. In this restored Georgian building, the top floor is where you’ll find your charming new home. After entering this historic exterior, there's a delightful contrast inside. The interiors merge quaint original features, such as exposed beams, floorboards, and charming attic windows with a sleek, modern aesthetic. Warm and rustic furnishings like the wooden dining bench bring yet another vintage edge, one of our favourite pieces being the rusty, red velvet sofa. And in the bedroom, the wicker bed frame looks beautifully natural against the pristine white walls and sleek wardrobes. After a peaceful slumber, your host generously provides granola for breakfast, so you can start the day with a wholesome bowl as you plan the day ahead. Head four minutes north to walk along the serene Regent’s Canal, or maybe even hitch a ride on a barge. On your way back, take a detour through Angel’s streets full of high-end restaurants, cute boutiques, and English pubs. Anyone for a pint?

Georgian London survives in this beautiful snug of a home. Sit on the Chesterfield sofa below framed tapestries, warmed by a crackling wood-burner, or stand on the Juliet balcony, sipping whiskey and gazing regally at the neighbouring terraces. Though the kitchenette is best for small meals, many excellent restaurants await nearby. We would bear in mind that the home has old walls, so it's not the quietest space.

One of the great benefits of this apartment is the big kitchen, which is well-stocked with all the appliances you need for self-catering. Its position in the open-plan living area means the chef of the group can always have one ear in the conversation. The living area leads onto a small balcony overlooking the street should you want to step out for a breath of air. Bedrooms are comfortable spots and the main bedroom has a laptop-friendly desk by the window should you need to work remotely.

A four-minute wander from Angel tube station, this sleek and chic flat in Clerkenwell is a calm environment for you to come home to – trust us, you’ll need it. The bustling independent shops, vibrant restaurants, and traditional boozers of Upper Street are a seven-minute walk, Exmouth Market is ten minutes away, and Leather Lane Market is just eighteen. Ready to relax yet?
 
 In this modern apartment, your open-plan living and dining room is airy and spacious. Minimalist, monochrome furnishings add to this understated elegance, with a soothing cream and neutral decor creating a truly zen-like home. This stylish apartment has a prestigious location in Shoreditch, in a landmark building designed by the renowned architects Foster + Partners. We love the ensuite bathroom, beautifully finished with marble. The open-plan living space is flooded with lots of natural light with large windows overlooking London. However, the absolute highlights here for us are the indoor lap pool and spa – perfect for relaxing after a busy day. There's also a residents' lounge, a state-of-the-art gym, and a cinema, so there's plenty to keep you occupied.

If all this wasn't enough, this home has a fabulous address. It's a twelve-minute walk to East London Tech City, otherwise known as Silicon Roundabout, while Spitalfields Market is a four-minute saunter. With its public gardens, bars, and restaurants, Hoxton Square is a seven-minute wander, or art lovers can head to the Barbican Arts Centre, seventeen minutes away on foot.

This flat is undoubtedly cool. Firstly, it's minutes from the vibrant markets, delicious curry houses and quirky bars of Brick Lane. But it offers much more than a prime location. 

We loved the open-plan living space, brought to life by the bold artwork on the walls and sewn together by the breakfast bar in the centre of the room. Perfect for sharing toast and jams in the morning, it expertly blends the living room and the kitchen. If you wanted to invite friends over for dinner, the room has a light, airy vibe that's ideal for a hosting space. 

Of course, when you're in such proximity to London's world-class restaurants, you probably want to sample them. Myriad fine eateries are right on your doorstep, or you can hop on the underground at Liverpool Street to reach Soho in a matter of minutes.

Head in the other direction and you'll find the Olympic Stadium and the beautiful park that surrounds it. Given the array of accessible public transport, you can reach the cool districts of Peckham, Hackney and Dalston in less than half an hour.

Cooling Down

Situated on a unique crescent-shaped street of Victorian homes – this apartment in Kings Cross is a great find. There’s an array of restaurants, bars and boutiques at nearby Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard, or have a stroll along the canal close by. The apartment itself has been featured in a variety of films and advertisements and takes its inspiration from a collection of artists and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury Group. The highlight for us though is the pretty courtyard garden – the perfect spot for reading a book.

This attractive apartment is a great choice of base in London, whether you’re in the city for business or leisure. It’s in Shoreditch, on lively Old Street, with a wealth of restaurants, bars, and cafes nearby. It’s also a hotspot for shopping, theatre, and galleries. With its modern amenities, this loft-style apartment is a comfortable home-from-home, though at full occupancy, four guests will sleep in the living and dining space – two on the sofa bed, and two in a king-size bed. We’d stick to a guest count of four if you're seeking more privacy.

Located in the leafy borough of Canonbury, once home to George Orwell, you will be within easy reach of Essex Road, Highbury & Islington and Shoreditch. Take the sixteen-minute tube ride to hipper-than-hip Shoreditch High Street, discovering fashionable boutiques, trendy bars and artisan coffee shops. Out and about or snuggled up indoors, any day is made better bookmarked with a long soak in the swanky bathtub.

When it comes to London neighbourhoods, some visitors are guilty of overlooking Farringdon, which is a pretty big sin in our books — not only is it excellently located between the bright lights of the city centre and the trendier East, but it's full of exciting restaurants, interesting museums and industrial architecture. It's also home to effortlessly cool apartments, such as this one.

In the open-concept living-kitchen area, light flows through the space thanks to windows on either end. The design is definitely Scandi in influence — clock the clean lines and preference for wood surfaces — but the abstract artwork stops it from feeling too identikit. Rather pleasingly for a home for two, the cobalt kitchen has a wealth of sleek surface space for whipping up romantic dinners, while the pristinely tiled bathroom has a tub that will surely sing to you after a long day on your feet.

Although the surrounding neighbourhood has a welcomingly quiet residential feel, some of the UK capital's most famous sights are only a short walk away — both The British Museum and St Paul's Cathedral will take you all of twenty minutes to reach.
