You're just a ten-minute walk away from West Brompton Underground, and on the tube, you have the whole city at your fingertips. But you don't have to go far to experience London life. You're surrounded by charming leafy streets and in just under half an hour's stroll, you can reach the gorgeous Holland Park. The perfect picnic spot. Kensington High Street is a half an hour's walk away too, where you can explore the museums, sip coffee around the bistro tables, and get carried away in the boutiques. Not only are they keen globetrotters, but they're also taxidermists, too — keep your eyes peeled for butterflies and the artfully arranged pheasant in the living room. The large, open-concept kitchen is the real heart of the home, with French doors leading out to a pristine outdoor patio, which has a verdant plant wall and a barbecue ready for those summer evenings. The local neighbourhood is largely residential and consequently, quite peaceful. The banks of the Thames can be reached in under a quarter of an hour on foot should you feel in the mood for a riverside stroll. That being said, you can also be in Central London in around twenty-five minutes on the tube via the Piccadilly Line if you want a change of pace at any time.

We were instantly drawn to this West Kensington apartment's characterful interiors and prime location. Tucked away on a quiet residential street, there are brunch-worthy spots, shops and bars just a short stroll away. You’ve also got both West Kensington (three minutes on foot) and Baron's Court tube stations nearby, making it super easy to get around the city. While it’s not the biggest home in our Kensington collection, the soaring Victorian ceilings make all the difference. The lounge also has a sofa-bed, making it a practical pick for a small family or friends on a city break.

The home's inoffensive interior, replete with white, creates a relaxing atmosphere, although it's a pity there's no furniture on the terrace. There's no air conditioning, but the host will include fans during the summer to ease you into sleep. With no lift, you'll be traversing the three storeys here on foot. Barons Court and West Kensington underground stations are close by here for when you want to explore.

The absolute highlight here, though, is the pretty, sunny garden – the rattan sofa, surrounded by scented climbers, is the perfect spot for cocktails. Back through the Crittal style patio windows, you'll find a stylish kitchen with a dining area and, beyond that, an elegant living room with period character features such as a bay window. At the end of a busy day in London, we can't think of anything better than having a long luxurious soak in the silver freestanding bath.

Located in the leafy, sought-after neighbourhood of Parsons Green, you'll have an array of restaurants and bars nearby. If you crave more green space, go for a stroll around Eel Brook Common, within a fifteen-minute walk. Or explore the rest of London – Parsons Green Station, on the Wimbledon branch of the District line, is under five minutes on foot.

Known for its village atmosphere, period architecture and excellent transport links (Hammersmith, Goldhawk Road and Shepherds Bush stations are all within walking distance), this pocket of West London suits families, business travellers and those craving a quieter neighbourhood. Yet it's still close to excellent restaurants, cosy gastropubs, green spaces and plenty of shopping, with Westfield London (fifteen-minute stroll), Kensington High Street (twenty-minute walk) and Holland Park (thirty minutes on foot) all just a stone's throw away. This bright apartment in a picturesque mansion is the perfect place to rest your feet and recharge after a long day exploring. The fully-stocked kitchen has everything you'll need to rustle up a meal, while the cosy living area has a comfortable sofa, Freeview channels and DVD player for chilled nights at home. There's also a desk if you need to do some remote working, though we'd probably get distracted watching the world pass by outside the window. But our favourite feature is the sumptuous rolltop bath. We can't think of a better way to end the day than with a glass of wine, a good book and a relaxing soak. Pure bliss.
