Tucked away on a quiet residential street, there are brunch-worthy spots, shops and bars just a short stroll away. While it’s not the biggest home in our Kensington collection, the soaring Victorian ceilings make all the difference. The lounge also has a sofa-bed, making it a practical pick for a small family or friends on a city break.

At full occupancy, one guest will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room, so we’d recommend a maximum guest count of two for those seeking more privacy.

This sprawling West London home, spread over three floors, is an ideal base for a group of friends or family of adults who want a base to escape to after the hustle and bustle of the city reaches boiling point. The home's inoffensive interior, replete with white, creates a relaxing atmosphere, although it's a pity there's no furniture on the terrace. There's no air conditioning, but the host will include fans during the summer to ease you into sleep. With no lift, you'll be traversing the three storeys here on foot. Barons Court and West Kensington underground stations are close by here for when you want to explore.

The hosts have collected vintage furniture and art from the many countries they’ve lived in, including the Indian wooden dining table and the quirky light fittings. Not only are they keen globetrotters, but they're also taxidermists, too — keep your eyes peeled for butterflies and the artfully arranged pheasant in the living room. The large, open-concept kitchen is the real heart of the home, with French doors leading out to a pristine outdoor patio, which has a verdant plant wall and a barbecue ready for those summer evenings. The local neighbourhood is largely residential and consequently, quite peaceful. The banks of the Thames can be reached in under a quarter of an hour on foot should you feel in the mood for a riverside stroll. That being said, you can also be in Central London in around twenty-five minutes on the tube via the Piccadilly Line if you want a change of pace at any time.

It’s in West Kensington, close to Kensington High Street, Earl’s Court, and Olympia. There are eateries, shops, and transport links nearby. The mansion block blends history and modernity, so you can expect some period charm alongside contemporary comforts. There’s a convenient kitchen to cook in, and a cosy living room with an ornamental fireplace.

With two tube stations within a five-walk, it's easy to get around the city from here, but if you're staying a little closer to home there are all sorts of great places to eat and drink on your doorstep. And The Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Palace are within walking distance.

This character-packed loft is located in the heart of Fulham, just a short walk from the River Thames, Hurlingham Park and Fulham Palace. Set across two floors, with the bedroom on the mezzanine level, it’s tailor-made for two. That said, it would suit solo and business travellers, too, thanks to its enviable location. While some areas are fairly simple, such as the kitchenette, you’ll find everything needed for a comfortable stay here. Locally, there are restaurants and bars, or for trips further afield, hop on the tube at Putney Bridge Underground Station to explore the city with ease.

Sleek and modern, this apartment is a great fit for families or small groups of friends in search of a city bolthole. Slide across the bi-folding doors and open up the living area to your private outside space, creating the perfect layout for socialising. Close to upmarket Kensington and bohemian Notting Hill is the charming area of Brook Green. Known for its village atmosphere, period architecture and excellent transport links (Hammersmith, Goldhawk Road and Shepherds Bush stations are all within walking distance), this pocket of West London suits families, business travellers and those craving a quieter neighbourhood. Yet it's still close to excellent restaurants, cosy gastropubs, green spaces and plenty of shopping, with Westfield London (fifteen-minute stroll), Kensington High Street (twenty-minute walk) and Holland Park (thirty minutes on foot) all just a stone's throw away. This bright apartment in a picturesque mansion is the perfect place to rest your feet and recharge after a long day exploring. The fully-stocked kitchen has everything you'll need to rustle up a meal, while the cosy living area has a comfortable sofa, Freeview channels and DVD player for chilled nights at home. There's also a desk if you need to do some remote working, though we'd probably get distracted watching the world pass by outside the window. But our favourite feature is the sumptuous rolltop bath. We can't think of a better way to end the day than with a glass of wine, a good book and a relaxing soak. Pure bliss.

You might think that minimalism is easy to get right, but it's not just a case of taking everything away and admiring the emptiness. This apartment in West London shows you how it should be done. The stark white walls and floorboards create a soothing ambience, but it also means that the carefully selected artwork, houseplants and statement furnishings — including an alien-looking chair in the bedroom by designer Tom Dixon — really stand out. Overall, it manages to strike the sought-for balance between artistic coherence and somewhere you can actually feel at home within. The outside of the building is traditionally pretty and part of a charming crescent sat opposite the entrance to Brompton Cemetery, one of the 'Magnificent Seven' built in the nineteenth century. Further afield, there are boutiques and upmarket restaurants on the nearby King's Road, which can be reached in under twenty minutes on foot.
