Inside, the cabin is surprisingly spacious and lovingly converted by your hosts to provide all the creature comforts. Expect spotless interiors with a well-equipped traditional kitchen complete with a Belfast sink, a neat en-suite shower, and luxurious Egyptian linens on the king-sized bed and bunk beds for the kids. A welcome hamper brimming with local goodies, including milk, eggs, freshly baked bread, and marshmallows for those obligatory s'mores, will help to settle you in. And you'll bank a blissful night's sleep here – your only neighbours are the occasional peacock or deer strutting by. While away your days watching nature unfold outside on the terraces - the private elevated balcony looking out into surrounding woodland (a great spot for den building) is a beautiful place for a cuppa. Or don your hiking boots for a country walk – perhaps with a pit stop at the welcoming local pub (within walking distance) for a swift pint. After many years unoccupied, this former barn was treated to a complete revamp in the late 2010s. Today, a remarkable home awaits guests visiting rural Oxfordshire. Huge glass walls and stark white walls mean that the space feels immediately bright and inviting, while there's a superb mix of modern touches and more homely furnishings — bold pieces of artwork and the sleek grey kitchen sit quite happily alongside deep red rugs and picnic baskets repurposed as coffee tables.

Out through the glass doors, there's a charming walled garden complete with a lawn, patio and neat plant beds. Bat boxes and an owl loft have also been incorporated into the property to help the local wildlife. If you fancy a little more nature-spotting, there are plenty of walking routes throughout the surrounding Blenheim Estate. The city of Oxford takes around twenty-five minutes to reach in the car, too.

Nestled between two islands on the picturesque banks of the River Thames – this beautiful thatched Edwardian home built in 1903, under a fifteen-minute drive from Windsor, is the perfect riverside retreat. Watch the boats, ducks and swans on the river go by from your own private heated pool. Lawns stretch down to the water – perfect for a game of croquet or challenge someone to a game of table tennis. There’s also a multipurpose play area for any younger children.

Inside, you'll see more of those divine riverside vistas. There are two living rooms and plenty of space for entertaining your family or friends. We love the master bedroom’s balcony, but a real highlight of this home for us was the bedroom attached to the side of the house on stilts. It’s constructed out of 19th century beams from one of the last pioneering ships bound for Australia and contains beautiful carvings and unique features from this period.

When you want to explore, your hosts can help arrange River Thames boat trips to pick you and your guests up directly from the garden. There’s also a lovely pub in the nearby village of Wraysbury, a ten-minute walk away. As well as close proximity to Windsor and Eton, Ascot racecourse is just over twenty minutes in the car and Thorpe Park, a fifteen-minute ride, while Henley, which hosts the Royal Regatta is forty minutes. If you visit London, Slough train station (a fifteen-minute drive away) runs services to London Paddington, the fastest being fourteen minutes.

Not only is the location excellent – the idyllic South Downs are practically on your doorstep – but the attention to detail here is second-to-none. The design is impeccable with blue velvet, dark greys and lots of wood. It's the perfect blend between rustic, country living and contemporary comforts, with chic furniture handmade by host Lucca. Speaking of, he'll leave a welcome hamper brimming with goodies for you to enjoy, and depending on the season, it'll contain fresh Italian fruit and veg grown on their farm. 

Days start and end here out on the deck, enjoying alfresco breakfasts in the sun and evening dips in the private hot tub. In between, set off and explore the local area – just walk out the front gates and you're on the National Trust South Downs footpath, leading towards Highdown Hill. A fourteen-minute walk away is the local pub, a few eateries and shops in Ferring, and it's only a five-minute drive to the beach. And with Worthing, Chichester and Brighton all less than an hour by car, you'll have plenty of options for adventures around West Sussex.

With a prime position on Dunstable's High Street, this apartment in a 19th-century building is a peaceful enclave away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.

Step inside and you're greeted by an interior dominated by cleansing shades of white and muted greys, with only the odd houseplant and piece of artwork adding a little colour and character. Stylish parquet flooring sits underfoot, while the glossy kitchen is a triumph of minimalist design. 

The home gets plenty of natural light from the tall triple glazed windows on either side of the space, but if you want to feel the sunshine on your skin, you also have the option of heading out to the building's communal courtyard, which has seating and a table, plus free cycle hire for you to explore.

Being right in the centre of town, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants lying nearby in case you're not in the mood to cook. Even though it's possible to get into London in around an hour on the train, there's a wealth of beautiful countryside around the home, too — Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Estate are only five minutes' drive, for example.

From the moment you see the grand stone exterior and cobbled courtyard, you’ll know that this ever-so-charming home is steeped in history. It's a former malthouse that’s over 300 years old and filled with traditional features. When you step into the entrance hall, you’re entering through the large oak door onto the original cart-way, and as you start trying to choose which bedroom you want to lay claim to, you’ll be winding your way up a turret stairway with rope bannisters, surrounded by wooden beams and original fireplaces. The interior has been fully renovated, with a modern handmade kitchen, squishy sofas, and cute-as-a-button bedrooms. Sip your afternoon tea perched on the sunny window seat with a good book in hand (there's an extensive collection to choose from), while gazing at the expansive green views of the playing fields and village church in the backdrop. Elsewhere, the large 14-seater pine dining table will be the perfect spot to savour a slow dinner with the entire group. Although in the garden you'll notice a patio, complete with outdoor furniture, that’s ideal for wine and cheese nights – there's a large lawn and a range of outdoor games available too (including table tennis) for hours of early evening fun. You don’t have to go far to continue the historical theme, as the pub next door is one of the oldest in the country and has been the resting place for many a monarch visiting the area since the 15th century. The surrounding county town, Frome, just a fifteen-minute drive away, was voted one of the best places to live in the UK - explore the rich history, shop at independent boutiques, buy fresh produce at the local market or dine at one of the many eateries dotted around nearby.

This cosy cabin is the perfect little bolthole for couples wanting to escape to the country. The location right at the heart of the New Forest means you’ll feel miles away from the stresses of daily life – as you fly down country lanes on your bike, you’ll feel your worries melting away. 

The cabin is just outside of Brockenhurst, in an area that feels secluded but isn’t too far from the nearest shops. You can stroll to the pub in fifteen minutes, which is a welcome sight after a day spent hiking the trails. A four-minute drive will get you to beautiful Beaulieu, which is well worth an afternoon strolling around after lunch in a cafe. The abbey is just six minutes from the cabin – the tranquil ruins are always popular with history buffs. 

If you need an ice cream on the beach for it to feel like a holiday, you’re in luck. Fifteen minutes by car will have you on a sandy shore, though we can’t guarantee it’ll be paddling weather. 

For us, the real joy of this cabin is its countryside setting. Walking just five minutes from the front door will see you on walking and cycling trails. When your feet start to feel sore, head back to the cabin to soak in the luxurious claw-foot tub before spending the evening in front of the fire. Absolute bliss.
