Located within an AONB, you’re perfectly placed for hiking the trails and spotting the wildlife in Blakeney National Nature Reserve, sighting the basking seals on a seal tour through Blakeney Point, or strolling the shores along the heritage coast. 

The options for seaside excursions are endless, but when you're ready to put your walking feet up, come home and relax in this charming and modern cottage. The luscious garden is an excellent spot to soak up the last of the day's sun or stretch out on the plump sofas with a glass of natural wine and the crackling fire. Fix up a comforting dinner in the kitschy kitchen or, if you're not in the mood to cook, grab some fish and chips from your local. We can’t think of a better way to end the day than with a soak in the freestanding copper tub before sinking into your sheets and the log fire flames dancing away in the background.

Once you can bear to tear yourself away from this home, explore your town base of Blakeney and its harbour, marshes, and sweeping pretty landscapes. Keen walkers will love the North Norfolk Coastal path to Morston, a combination of sea breeze and stunning views. The Norfolk coast has so much countryside to see – drive for twenty-five minutes and discover historic Holkham, which has award-winning beaches, a deer park, and a fruit farm where you can pick your own berries.

We're absolutely smitten with the whimsical vibe, be it the seashell feature wall in the master bath, the vintage furniture in the downstairs lounge or the collection of cutesy crockery lining the kitchen walls. There are a lot of modern conveniences too, including a Bluetooth speaker, two flat-screen TVs and a remote-controlled shower. And the location couldn't be better – on your doorstep are Holt's charming shops, cosy pubs, quaint cafes and local art galleries. After a day strolling through town or exploring North Norfolk, come back home to fire up the barbecue in the garden for an alfresco meal. Then unwind with a soak in the tub or pop a vinyl on the record player as you relax on the sumptuous sofas, a glass of bubbly in hand.

This lovely home takes a classic English barn and renovates it into a chic, open space with all the country charm and none of the snug spaces. Glass walkways and enormous French windows in the living area add a contemporary edge to the original wooden beams and red-tiled roof. Not only is it open and bright, but it's perfect for socialising. You can easily flit between cooking in the kitchen and relaxing on the sofa, keeping the conversation flowing the whole time. And don't even get us started on the garden. Scented with honeysuckle and lavender, it's the very picture of a country idyll, with a small gate leading into a secret orchard straight from the pages of a period novel. When you fancy exploring, the nearby village of Thursford has a 500-year old wood (excellent spot for walks), a famous steam engine museum (ideal for trainspotters) and a few country eateries (perfect for afternoon pints). Not far from the Norfolk coast, you can explore the marshes in Cley-next-the-Sea, spot seals in Blakeney or sprawl out on the sandy beaches in Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham, about twenty minutes away by car.

Tucked away in a select group of Grade II listed buildings, this home may be historic but it's modern and stylish inside. The living room is the heart of the home, with comfortable furnishings, and there's a smart kitchen with a walk-in pantry and a pretty dining nook with bench seating for six. With everything thought of, there are books and games for rainy afternoons and outside a lovely lawned garden and barbecue patio for when the sun shines. On the edge of the Georgian town of Holt, it's an easy walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants, and just a short drive to the Norfolk coast and the towns of Sheringham and Cromer.

Or, leave it to the professionals and head out one of the charming pubs and restaurants on Holt high street, only a two-minute walk away. 

There’s much to love about this village – check out the buzzing cafes and shops selling local produce, and have a wander around the 100-acre Holt Country Park. You’re also only a ten-minute drive from the scenic North Norfolk coastline, where you’ll find nature reserves, beautiful seaside towns and wide, sandy beaches.

Tucked away in a quiet loke in the Georgian town of Holt, this brick and flint cottage is perfectly placed for exploring Norfolk’s countryside and coastline.

Outside of your home, the town’s boutiques, antique galleries and pubs wait to be sampled right on your doorstep, while those looking to sink their toes in the sand can make a beeline for Sheringham Beach, a fourteen-minute walk away.  Holt’s North Norfolk Steam Railway is also just under a thirty-minute walk away (or four minutes by car) and the medieval city of Norwich is a forty-minute drive from your door.

This yellow cottage dates back to the 1850s, so if you're looking for traditional charm with contemporary twists, this is the place for you. Our favourite spot is the light-filled conservatory, which is the perfect spot to indulge in afternoon tea or a glass of wine under the curved roof.

In the living room, cosy is an understatement – plush sofas beckon you to curl up with a good book beneath the wooden beams, while the wood burner and collection of board games are the very things for chillier nights at home. Come dinnertime, make your way to the kitchen and cook up a storm on the Aga stove, preparing a range of mouth-watering fare to share in the dining room. Better yet, dine alfresco in the sun-kissed garden as the day slowly fades and feel the salt-tinged air on your skin.

 Brinton is a small hamlet tucked away from the more lively spots on the Norfolk Coast. But that doesn't mean it's boring – you'll find excellent walking footpaths and cycling routes along the lanes, as well as an award-winning pub in Hunworth a short drive away. Holt is close by, too – ideal if you're after cafes, art galleries, boutique shops and fantastic restaurants. If it's the sea you crave, head to Wells-next-the-Sea or Holkham – both about a half-hour away by car.

Built back in the 19th century, this quaint cottage is nestled away in Cley next the Sea, just a short walk from Cley Windmill as well as the heart of the village. Being in one of north Norfolk's most picturesque coastal spots, this home is a short drive from the Norfolk Coast AONB, where you'll find plenty of seaside strolls and cycle paths to explore on. It's a traditional cottage made with brick and flint, and is ideal for those who want a quintessential British break, with a cosy open fireplace, gorgeous garden and classical cottage interiors.

Cosy in Cley

You’ll find this adults-only, flint cottage tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac just a five-minute stroll from Holt’s thriving high street. Perfect for two couples wanting to holiday together, there are two bathrooms to speed mornings along. The interiors may feel a little dated for some, but it’s all well-cared for, and the garden opening onto a private, enclosed wood with visiting deer is a nice touch. Location-wise, there’s plenty to walk to in Holt, but you’ll need a car for beach days. Get off to a flying start in Blakeney, just five miles away.

This Grade II Listed cottage has a fantastic location right in the centre of Wells-next-the-Sea. Do some beachcombing on Wells-next-the-Sea Beach (around twenty minutes on foot). Then, afterwards, have a stroll along the Quay, a one-minute walk away, and enjoy some fish and chips or pick up some catch of the day from the pretty harbour. There are plenty of local pubs and restaurants, as well as a delicatessen, butchers and fishmonger within a five-minute stroll. Take some local produce back to this lovely home, prepare a meal in the modern kitchen, and then savour it at the table in the sunny courtyard. Or when the weather turns chilly, light the log burning stove (your lovely host provides a starter pack of logs in the colder months) and relax with a glass of wine on the sofa. This stylish cottage is everything you would want from a seaside retreat – we love the original features, such as the old beams, which blend beautifully with the chic furnishings. With so much out and about, too, you’ll probably need to book again to fit it all in.

Those 19th-century farmers knew what they were doing when they built these two divine cottages tucked away in the sleepy Norfolk village of Wighton. Now joined together and exquisitely reimagined into a luxurious seaside haven just an eleven-minute drive from the beach, this place has got charm by the trough load.

Inside, while the old 1800s bones remain (those exposed oak beams are everything), there's nothing twee about its interiors. Every inch of the home feels like an interior magazine come to life with heirloom-worthy antiques, vibrant textiles, and curated artwork bringing layers of interest and style.

Sunny mornings call for lazy coffees on the garden terrace as kids and furry friends run about on the lawns. But if the weather doesn't buck up, that breakfast room with French doors overlooking the garden is just as inviting, with the Aga keeping things toasty.

Upstairs, each bedroom set out over two floors is as dreamy as the next. And kids will love the novelty of the two staircases at either end of the house. Game of hide and seek, anyone? 

When it's time to spread your wings, take your pick from north Norfolk's best beaches. Pack a picnic and head for Wells-next-the-Sea (3 miles) and Holkham (5 miles). The vast sandy shores are the perfect playground for young and old alike when the tide is out. And when tummies start to rumble, the village pub (three minutes on foot) is just the ticket for hearty grub and a warm welcome.

See the flowers bloom in the summertime at Hindringham Hall Gardens, just fifteen minutes away on foot. Alternatively, you can buy local produce at the nearby mill and farm shops on your way to Holt – a pretty market town that waits seven miles down the road.

Drive up to this brick and flint cottage and leave your wellies by the front door. Here, you'll wake up beneath a sloped ceiling and wander downstairs into your homely kitchen to cook breakfast. We think the dining room is the perfect place to make plans for the day. When you return, why not read a book in this bright conservatory as your dogs run through the garden? You'll even discover a hi-fi system and board games to keep the whole family entertained. Or, bring your favourite DVDs and cosy up in the living room for a movie night.

Nestled within North Norfolk’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this family home makes the perfect setting for an adventurous stay by the sea. And with its location in the unspoilt conservation village of Salthouse, there’s everything you could need to experience the charm and character of this special region. 

Set across two floors, the owners have thoughtfully styled this home to feel like a peaceful sanctuary. From the natural tones and textures to the simple furnishings, every detail inspires a wonderful sense of welcome. 

Downstairs, the open-plan living and dining room invite you to enjoy candlelit dinners around the table and cosy movie nights or games by the fire. Head upstairs and you'll find the serene bedrooms feature beautiful views across the village toward the glistening shoreline – ensuring you feel refreshed and ready to explore.

From here, it’s just a short cheery walk into the village where you’ll find a great local pub and shop for any amenities you might need. And for explorations further afield, days can be spent embracing the waves on the nearby sandy beaches of Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham (both a short drive away).

Set within an exquisite Grade II-listed house, this palatial apartment blends country elegance with modern style. We loved the floor-to-ceiling windows, which flood the open-place space with natural light. With ground floor access to the beautiful shared garden, you can walk straight out to enjoy a tranquil morning sat around the terrace coffee table, or spend an afternoon having a picnic on the green. Located within walking distance to nearby shops and pubs, you’ll be able to explore the charming village of Binham.  Everything is steeped in history around here, but the early-twelfth-century Benedictine priory is a must-see. Luckily, it's so close you can spot it from the bedroom windows.

Is there anything more quintessentially British than staying in a converted pub? We don't think so. Dating back to 1715, this Grade 2 listed ale house in the North Norfolk town of Holt is a delightful escape. Recently refurbished, the owners have taken great care to restore the original wooden beams, brickwork and fireplaces. We love the bedrooms, all named after teas. After a busy day, there’s nothing better than relaxing in front of the wood burner with some fish and chips from across the road. And of course, pour yourself a pint. You're in a former pub after all.

Surrounded by bustling bars, cafés and shops, you'll have plenty to do in the area. Spend the day strolling through the village – we recommend browsing the local art galleries or having a spot of afternoon tea at one of the many tearooms (there's a charming one right next door). If you're longing for sea and sand, drive fifteen minutes and you'll reach Sheringham Beach and the Norfolk Coast. 


Ale House Dreams

Boasting a privileged position at the heart of Wells-next-the-Sea, this picturesque home overlooking the town’s quay is a treat for all seasons. With the North Norfolk coast on your doorstep and a plethora of fun treats waiting to be enjoyed at home, there’s no end to the adventures in store. 

No stone has been left unturned in the careful curation of this home, with its welcoming open-plan living area beckoning board games by the fireside and the sun room offering a slice of relaxation whatever the weather. Open the doors here to step out into the large private garden – the perfect spot for family picnics and lawn games – or head out to the front of the home where you’ll find a raised seating area with picture-perfect views of the boats coming in and out of quay. 

Our favourite spot, however, has to be the main bedroom’s terrace. Accessed via a hatched window, you’ve got uninterrupted views of the water that you can enjoy over morning coffees as the sun dazzles over the stunning scenery, or with a nightcap as the stars twinkle above you. 

When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, you’ll find plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes just minutes away, including along the quayside (a two-minute walk) which has a plethora of ice cream shops and arcades. You’re also a twenty-five-minute walk from the beach, while Holkham Hall and Holkham National Nature Reserve are both just a couple of miles away.


Shipyard Quay

As cosy and quaint as you'd expect a cottage to be, this Victorian one in the heart of Blakeney is brimming with charm. Everything from the farmhouse-style kitchen to the wood-burning stove adds a rustic homeliness that might not be to everyone's taste but adds to the comfort here. Norfolk Coast explorers will find Salhouse Beach an eleven-minute drive away, a nice segue to discovering dotted gems further up and down the coastline. And it wouldn't be right for a traditional brick and flint house to not be within walking distance of a quintessentially British pub, which you can find alongside other shops. Though there's no parking available, a car is advisable to make the most of your stay.

Built back in 1835, this cottage in the Norfolk town of Holt is approaching its 200th birthday, although you wouldn't be able to tell from the contemporary interior. The soothing palette of muted greys and chic furnishings are completely in keeping with the 21st century rather than the 19th, save for an eclectic collection of curios and mementoes on the shelves.

Arguably the home's best feature is a modern addition – the conservatory is blessed with natural light and is a lovely place to enjoy dinner regardless of the season. It also gives you a view of the back garden, which has another table plus a charcoal barbecue ready and waiting for summer evening feasts.

One thing that hasn't changed in the years since the house has been standing is  the quality of the location.
