This baby blue timber lodge is just as cute on the inside as it is on the outside. As well as having all the essentials for a romantic getaway, there are house plants, colourful pieces of artwork and a turquoise accent wall to give the place a bit of character without overdoing it — one of the hosts is an interior designer, can't you tell? Out through the glass door, there's a large garden with a cosy seating area at the far end and plenty of potted plants dotted about. You'll find that there's a real sense of peace here. The local village of Banningham is small — albeit with a well-recommended gastropub — and there are plenty of outdoor excursions to fill your days with nearby. The birthplace of Anne Boleyn, Blickling Estate, takes ten minutes to reach in the car, while Cromer Beach is a seventeen-minute drive away, too.

Originally built in the 1930s for use during the shooting season, the main part of this impressive house is now a family home. Beautiful arched windows let the sunlight stream into the spacious living room and offer views out over the grounds. 

Step straight from your door to explore the woodland, meadows and lakes of this vast estate – and if you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of deers, badgers, otters and all kinds of birdlife. Or enjoy a few games of tennis on the owner's outdoor court. 

It's only a four-minute drive to the nearest pub, or it's a fifteen-minute ride to the delightful coastal town of Cromer with its pier walk, crabbing, and fish and chips by the shore. With its thatched roof and shuttered windows, you couldn't ask for a cuter cottage than this Grade-II listed address sitting in the middle of a country estate in rural Norfolk.

Although it dates back to the 19th century, the interior is a little more contemporary than you might expect, save for the wooden beams and winding staircase. White walls and framed pictures lend the feel of an art gallery, while the cosy kitchen with a Belfast sink retains a rustic air. And what could be a better way of ending the day than with a long and languorous soak in the freestanding bathtub?

When the weather forecast makes for kind reading, the home has a private patio complete with a hot tub, barbecue and plenty of furniture to help you make the most of it. Alternatively, it doesn't take too long to reach the Norfolk coastline – Sea Palling Beach is twenty minutes' drive away, for instance. The city of Norwich is only half an hour away in the car, too.

This home is ideal for families, as there’s so much to do. It can be found in pretty Bacton, within easy reach of the Norfolk Broads and Norwich – and just a short walk from Bacton Beach. In addition to having a cosy, traditional home to return to after days spent in the fresh air, you’ll also have access to a communal indoor swimming pool and a games room. The shared garden is a lovely spot when the weather is fine, too. The decor on the rustic side and the main bedroom isn’t entirely private, so it won’t suit everyone – but we think it’s a great option for a family and their four-legged friend.

The former home of the head gardener, this Georgian building boasts its own walled garden and numerous character features – not least its beautiful arched windows. A simple, elegant cottage that's been modernised without losing its charm, it's now perfect for a special break in the countryside.

Along with a games room with all sorts of fun activities for all the family, there's a large lawn and an outdoor dining terrace, plus a little modern luxury in the form of a hot tub. Inside, the owners have retained the traditional features of this old stable building and added in a range of contemporary comforts. From the Tudor brick fireplace to the wooden beams and snug bedrooms, this is a wonderful place to get cosy and share quality time together. 

Outside, you’ll find a private garden with a barbecue – perfect for embracing the magic of outdoor living. From here, make your way to the thatched barn house to enjoy a refreshing swim in the communal pool or an energising workout in the mini gym. Children (and adults) will love the playful spirit of the gardens – there’s a giant chess set, seesaw and trampoline as well as a games room in the old gig house. 

Days can be spent hiking along the coast or following in the footsteps of pilgrims to the ruins of Bromholm Priory – just a short walk away.

From its blissfully quiet, secluded spot, you could feel a million miles from anywhere – which is how we like things. But when the sea calls, the soft sands of Walcott Beach are just 0.9 miles away. A smidge further, you’ll find the post-card pretty village of Ridlington (a 2.5-mile drive). Or, there's good old-fashioned beach fun down at Mundesley, with its colourful beach huts, lip-smacking fish and chip shops, and lashings of ice cream.

Back home, this light-filled treasure is a joy to return to, with its exposed beams and stonework bringing all the wow factor. Set out across one level, extended families or friends sharing will love the privacy the bedrooms bring, each with a separate bathroom. This converted coach house still retains its original charm – the interior is rustic yet elegant. We love the exposed beams, stone floors and high ceilings. The southwest-facing walled garden with its pretty lawn is the perfect spot to unwind – fire up the barbecue for an alfresco lunch. On chillier evenings, cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove or have a luxurious soak in the roll-top bath. There is plenty of family fun to be had in this home – let siblings battle it out at the football table or bury themselves in a board game in the entertainment room. In the cloakroom, you'll find ample space for buckets and spades, and we recommend heading out to the nearby Cromer Beach for the day (a twenty-minute drive). If you want to explore the Norfolk Broads – it's just over thirty minutes in the car. Or it's a three-minute stroll to the local pub for a hearty meal and a pint to round off a perfect day in Norfolk.

The Old Coach House

With only an eight-minute walk and a front door separating you from Mundesley Beach, this is a fantastic starting point for families wanting to explore the Norfolk Coast. Otherwise surrounded by bars, shops and the Mundesley Golf Club, this house is undoubtedly central, which is a big tick on location. Neutral with a touch of country-house chic, it's homely, comfortable and, with well-sized bedrooms, spacious enough for up to ten. Though there are two living areas and by no means a shortage of seating, you'll also find patio furniture on the raised deck. We recommend afternoon wine and nibbles as you watch the kids expend their energy on the manicured lawn.

With plenty of 16th-century charm, modern verve, and beautiful views of the North Norfolk coastline, this manor home speaks to holiday-goers looking for much more than just a beach holiday. 

Brimming with character, this bright and bold home gives way to a third acre of garden, but it’s in the dappled shade of the trees that you’ll find a hot tub that offers attractive sea views. Let the last dregs of tension melt away as you enjoy a glass of wine at sunset or spend sunny afternoons lazily sipping wine as you nibble cheese and crackers at the outdoor dining table. 

Take the garden path through the woods and to the beach, where you can spend the day building sandcastles in the sand or strolling through the shallow surf. Sunbathe, picnic al fresco and find a comfortable reading position as you work through your holiday book list. 

Mundesley, a quaint Victorian market town, is great for dining and window shopping, but you can also drive to Cromer, Sheringham, Wells, and the rest of the coast.

As you'd expect from a lighthouse cottage (built in 1680), this home has sea views from the private garden and the living space. We love that the bedroom has been formed from the circular base of the lighthouse tower (though the bathroom is back up the stairs off the living room). And the good news is this lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so you won't be woken in the middle of the night. When you feel like exploring, a ten-minute stroll along the coastal path will take you to the North Norfolk town of Cromer, with its sandy beach and an array of shops and restaurants. Or for golf lovers, adjacent to the lighthouse is a golf course.

We may have just found the most adorable home in Norfolk — and it's pet friendly. Located only a short walk from Happisburgh beach, this stunning barn conversion is a fantastic spot to bring your loved ones and let loose. While the pups are playing in the garden, you can chill out in the shade with a cocktail recipe that took you mane iterations to perfect and play scrabble to showcase your enviable vocabulary. Take the tribe to the beach whenever you feel like and when the weather is nice, have a picnic there too. On lazier days, you might only make it as far as the orchard garden, but that's more than fine as long as you remember to relax. When you feel like embarking on a day trip, Norfolk will provide plenty of fascinating destinations ranging from war memorials to famous tearooms.

This rural retreat is a cosy family-friendly cottage on the Norfolk Coast. Outside, there is plenty of charm, especially with a front and back garden to sip wine on summer evenings. The interior is inviting but minimal, with a farmhouse-style kitchen, breakfast bar, and two dishwashers to make clear-ups effortless after a barbecue. When it comes to location, the Southrepps Nature Reserve is great for birdwatching, and Trimingham Beach is around ten minutes by car.

If you're after a home that's got space for you and your beloved pooch(es), we've found one that's just 'paw-fect' (we can't promise that won't be the last dog pun). A gorgeous barn conversion close to the wind-whipped Norfolk coast, this home has been set up with dog lovers in mind. There's enough space for up to four of your furry friends to join, with a lavish fleece-lined bed for each, throws for those that just won't stay off the sofa, an enclosed garden and a special dog hamper to welcome them. Two-legged guests will love the open-plan living and dining area, the AGA in the kitchen, comfy sofas and plenty of games. You'll definitely want to keep the dogs out of the bedrooms, though, as the Egyptian cotton bedding is far too sumptuous to share. Nearby there are lots of dog-friendly woodland and beach walks, and local pub The Star Inn will be happy to welcome you and your tail-wagging companions. After a day out exploring the best of the north Norfolk coast, treat yourself to a soak in the hot tub looking out over the surrounding fields. If you want to explore further afield, head twenty miles north to Cromer, known as 'the gem of the Norfolk coast'. We think it makes for the 'ulti-mutt' escape.

This attractive Edwardian house is just a short walk from a long Blue Flag sandy beach, a picturesque haven with shallow waters and a cliff-top promenade. Dreamy and idyllic, it's a perfect choice for a seaside holiday. 

As well as the glistening coastline, there are also plenty of cafes and shops to browse locally too. Start your day with a wholesome walk around the natural scenery settling down for a cosy pub lunch. For dessert, treat yourself to an ice cream by the shore and watch the gentle waves flow towards the sand.

Back at the home, the stylish abode is ideal for groups of friends or families wanting to enjoy a week away in each other’s company. There’s plenty of outdoor space for relaxing on warm days and a BBQ for those carefree evenings. 

On cooler days, the spacious lounge is the perfect place to curl up in front of a log fire or watch the world go by from the comfy window seat. This restful retreat offers elegance and home comforts in every room, making you feel instantly at ease.

There are plenty of coastal walks and cycle rides nearby here, so it's ideal if you want to make the most of this seaside location. It's based on a small site that sports some fantastic shared facilities you'll have access to during your stay, including a heated indoor pool, games room, sauna, gym, and even an outdoor giant chess board so you can enjoy a game in the sunshine.

Wildflower Breeze

This pretty flint barn is just as characterful on the inside as it is on the outside. Relax under the warm wooden beams and exposed brick walls. In the morning, stroll down to the heated indoor pool and work up an appetite in the water before eating breakfast in the farmhouse kitchen. In the evening, gather in the lounge to have fun and play board games. Based just on the outskirts of Cromer, be sure to sample the town's iconic crab on your visit. Spend a day on the sandy beach, stroll on the pier and take in the traditional seafront food, independent shops and entertainment. History buffs and nature enthusiasts rejoice - there are plenty of National Trust sites and Areas of Outstanding Beauty nearby and the gorgeous Norfolk Broads are just a 45 minute drive away.

Set in the sleepy village of Hevingham, and with field upon field surrounding you – there's little in the way of bustle here. However, neighbouring Buxton has a much-loved fish and chips shop, and there are traditional pubs just a few minutes drive away. Ready to explore? The Norfolk Broads National Park, Norwich and the mighty Norfolk Coast are all half an hour's drive.

For a contemporary take on farmhouse chic, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better example than this stunning 1920s converted barn. Sandwiched between the spectacular Norfolk Coast AONB and the charming Norfolk Broads, this home places you within a fifteen-minute drive of some of the most picturesque scenery the UK has to offer. In addition, its proximity to Norwich makes it ideally suited for anyone who might appreciate a bit of retail therapy thrown in alongside the natural wonders.

French doors line the side of the barn, allowing easy access to the garden from almost every room in the house, including both bedrooms – perfect for that morning cup of coffee in the sun. The open layout and soaring vaulted ceilings maximise the natural light flowing in the opposite direction. A sleek kitchen is ideal for plating up culinary perfection, while the spacious living room offers a comfy spot to put your feet up at the end of a day spent exploring your surroundings.

The village of East Ruston might have featured in a Sherlock Holmes book, but nowadays it's best known as home to a creatively designed 32-acre garden packed with rare and exotic plants that you wouldn't expect to thrive this close to the North Sea coast. A network of public footpaths leads directly from the barn and crisscross the countryside, providing you with plenty of choices when it comes to walks. Meanwhile, those who prefer two-wheeled transport will appreciate the proximity to the 100-mile Norfolk Coast Cycleway (and the on-site bike storage).

Art Deco meets Colonial styling in this showstopper of a property. If the striking good looks don't turn your head there's the incredible sea view. Set back from a clifftop, with a gate out onto the grass, this is the perfect place to escape everyday stress. It's a reasonably undiscovered part of Norfolk so it's perfect if you're trying to evade the crowds. It's a short walk to the village shop and pub, but a seven-minute drive will take you to Cromer – famous for its pier, crab fishing and its long sandy beach. 

Back at the house you can cosy up with a book in the snug, put your feet up in front of the wood-burning stove in the lounge or, if the weather is on your side, eat outside in the beautiful garden. If you can tear your eyes away from the view, that is. Each room is designed to make the most of the ocean vistas with floor-to-ceiling windows in the master bedroom allowing for sunrise stretches and the picture windows in the living room inviting floods of natural light into the communal area for seamless seaside living.

Tucked away in the quiet village of Bacton, this charming flint home absolutely exudes cosy comfort. With a sumptuous sectional sofa and a crackling wood burner in the living area, a large dining table in the country-style kitchen and three inviting bedrooms, there's plenty of space here to spread out and make yourself comfortable. Home chefs can cook up a storm in the kitchen – it's well-stocked with everything you need – while kids play a board game or snuggle up with a book. That said, our favourite spot has to be the sunny garden. Fire up the barbecue for dinner, share your meal around the outdoor table and then when the sun goes down, snuggle up by the fire pit underneath the stars.

Right down the street is the ruins of the Priory of Bromholm, a historic abbey that was said to house a piece of the True Cross. And just a little further, only five minutes away, is a sandy beach, where you can sprawl out on the Norfolk coast and dip your toes into the water. When you're not in the mood to cook, there are a few pubs and eateries in town, plus lively Cromer is only ten miles away – perfect for a day trip.

Where the Air Is Sweet

This elegant coastal home set a mere 0.1 miles from the beach in the postcard-pretty village of Happisburgh, had us charmed with its country garden and summer house alone. And that was before we'd even seen the slipper bath and four-poster bed of its swoon-worthy interiors.

Inside, every corner of this Norfolk home feels like an interior magazine brought to life. Antique pieces and objets d'art nod to the home's 18th-century beginnings, while pops of colour add a dash of modernity.

Set out over one level, there's room for you to all spill out in style here. When the sun shines, pad out into the enclosed wraparound garden for alfresco breakfasts. Then savour that second coffee beneath the dapple of the apple tree while kids and furry friends run off some energy on the lawns.
