This home in Egton is the perfect compromise between seclusion and a beach holiday. With only six miles separating you from the seaside town of Whitby, you can easily take a quick road trip to spend the day on the sandy shores of West Cliff beach. Whilst there, be sure to walk the promenade for a gorgeous view of the Church of Saint Mary and try your hand at the claw machine in the pier arcade. After a lunch of fresh seafood, head to the Whitby Abbey, a fourteen-minute walk from Whitby Beach, to visit the renowned ruins that inspired Bram Stoker’s gothic novel Dracula.

Back home, take in the tranquillity of the secluded escape by sitting out on the deck with a cup of coffee. Watch the breeze play through the line of trees surrounding you as you catch up on your favourite podcast. We recommend, at least once, sitting out here to watch the sun rise or set, maybe even both. The house itself is warm and welcoming, with heaps of space. It’s an excellent choice for a big group of friends or a couple of families travelling together, as there’s plenty of room for everyone. We love the balcony that opens out from the living room – it boasts gorgeous views of Whitby and its harbour, and is the perfect spot for a morning cuppa. Rather ironically, it's what lies outside that makes this apartment special – gaze out through the windows and you're treated to a sublime view of the North Sea. There's also a private balcony just off the kitchen in case you fancy starting the day with coffee and the sun on your skin – can't we be optimistic?

There's also a lot to like about the interiors, too. You'll find the kitchen to be decently enough sized for bouts of home cooking and there are no complaints about the minimalist bedrooms, either.

So, what's there to do nearby? Well, quite a lot as it happens. West Cliff Beach and the promenade are about five minutes' walk from the front door, while the famed Whitby Abbey and 199 steps are just over twenty minutes away on foot, crossing the River Esk in the process.

The promenade is just a short stroll from the apartment and a bunch of fun arcades and fresh fish restaurants can be found on Pier Road.

Modern, stylish and in the heart of charming Whitby, this home ticks all the boxes for a memorable stay on the North Yorkshire coast. A dining table with zesty yellow chairs takes centre stage – come together for a home-cooked breakfast and hot cups of tea before throwing on your sun hat and heading to the seaside. You’re a ten-minute walk from the beach – fifteen if you stop for an ice cream. Cross the River Esk and climb the 199 steps to reach the famous Abbey. With all of that exploring, you’ll have worked up quite an appetite, so pick up a fish supper from an award-winning chip shop and enjoy overlooking the harbour.
