The interior is a handsome mix of wood panelling, exposed stonework and roaring fires, although there's plenty of modern amenities tastefully added in too — it’s easy to see why it bagged so many tourism awards. As it's part of a small community of five homes, there's also a wealth of communal amenities to enjoy, ranging from a hot tub and a hammock outside, to the combined games and workout room which is packed full of ways to while away rainy days. When the weather does play ball, you can play croquet, badminton, volleyball, Giant Jenga or try your hand at kite-flying. Alternatively, you can lace up your walking boots and head out into the countryside for a bracing walk. The town of Chipping Norton can be reached in ten minutes by car, too.

This 19th-century Cotswold cottage is perfect for an idyllic escape to the country. With a private garden full of hidden nooks outside, and a cosy log-burner inside, you’re set for any season here. We love the period features at this home, although the low ceilings may not suit taller guests. Location-wise, you’re in the village of Deddington, where you can browse the antique shops, stock up on goodies at the bakery, and enjoy a pint in one of the local pubs after walking the dog. And if day trips are on the cards, Blenheim Palace – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is a fifteen-minute drive away.

As every cottage can be rented individually, each one has an excellent level of privacy, but they come together around the gorgeous central courtyard. Drop by local pubs for lunch, or head out for walks in the rolling fields, and we’d definitely recommend a trip to the nearby Hook Norton brewery. This is generally a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts but it’s also only a short drive to Oxford if you fancy an afternoon in town.

This Cotswolds apartment for two, overlooking the village green of Wiggington, couldn’t be more charming if it tried. The perfect retreat for a couple or solo stay, there’s an elegant king-sized bedroom and twin armchairs just begging for you to curl up in. It’s worth noting that the home’s layout is a little unusual. The dining table for two is set on the top-floor landing, and the kitchenette is compact to say the least. But with gastropubs within two miles, and Soho Farmhouse just a little further, we doubt you’ll be eating in anyway. For sightseeing, head into the picture-perfect towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh – less than a twenty-five-minute drive away.
