This Cotswolds stone barn sets the tone for an idyllic English countryside escape. With a provincial feel, antique furniture and soft, creamy hues, this home perfectly embodies a modern, country chic style. We were blown away by the vaulted beamed ceilings, sleek bathrooms (complete with rainfall showers) and the fully-equipped kitchen. But the star of the show is the Scandinavian-style log-burner. When it's chilly out, throw another log on the fire and sink a little deeper into the comfy couch, a well-thumbed book in hand. But when the weather's glorious, outside is where you'll spend most of your time. The private terrace is an excellent place to tuck into the goodies from the welcome basket – which is filled with local produce, fresh-squeezed apple juice and a complimentary bottle of  Pomerol – while the surrounding gardens have multiple play areas to keep kids entertained. There are also many on-site amenities to entice you, from the spa (considered one of the best by Tatler) and communal games room to the shared indoor pool and gym. If you're looking to go further afield, cycle and hike around the local area or drive for twenty minutes to chocolate-box villages nearby, including Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford.

Once a former stable, this home has been transformed into an elegant country house, perfect for escapes to the Cotswolds. Days here are spent in the great outdoors, dining alfresco on the terrace on long summer evenings, strolling through the estate's lush gardens and roaming the country footpaths on your doorstep. Kids can let loose on the playgrounds and jungle gyms, or they can cook up imaginary meals in the fully decked-out wendy house under the stairs. When you need a break from the sun, retreat into the cosy drawing room or gather by the open fire in the living area. There's also a wooden art nouveau sideboard filled with toys and board games for the whole family to enjoy. We loved the kitchen, in particular – it's a great space for home chefs to try out new dishes, using fresh produce and local ingredients picked up at one of the many Cotswolds farm shops. Speaking of local goodies, the welcome basket is filled with treats, from fresh eggs and a homemade cake to a complimentary bottle of wine. There's also much to get up to on the estate– book a treatment at the spa, take a dip in the indoor pool, play a game of ping-pong in the games room or break a sweat in the gym. But if you're craving a day trip, hop in the car and explore the idyllic Cotswolds villages – Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold are both twenty minutes away.

This home's architecture, interiors and refined furnishings all share a charming rural feel, but its five acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, filled with topiary, sculptures and lily-padded ponds, tell the tale of Granada's ancient Alhambra fortress. It's a design paradox that we just love. Set in the quaint village of Kingham, there's plenty of great pubs, restaurants and woodland footpaths nearby – you're perfectly placed for exploring the sprawling Cotswolds from this pretty cottage. Upon arrival, recharge your batteries with a hearty meal in the bright and airy dining area, benefitting from soaring ceilings and windows that flood the room with light. Cosy up with a good book around the exposed stone hearth fireplace or knock up few light bites in the modern kitchen with exposed beams overhead. While its rustic features add interest, the heated indoor pool and Turkish Hammam really steal the show – treat yourself to a morning dip, before exploring the gardens or sporting your finest whites on the tennis court. With so much to see and do around the home, we just know you'll run out of time at this peaceful oasis.

Tucked away in the quiet Cotswold village of Nether Westcote, this 18th-century barn is a delightful escape just for two. The place is packed with original features, including timber beams and stone walls, creating a rustic yet homely feel throughout. We loved how the cosy seating area with log-burning stove opens up into a bright dining space – the perfect spot for cream tea on summer afternoons. When it’s particularly warm out, sit at the bistro set in the garden with a glass of your favourite tipple and a paperback pulled from the bookcase. 

Take a nine-minute drive to Stow-on-the-Wold for its popular Farmer’s Market or stretch your legs with a ramble to Bourton-on-the-Water – it’ll take you an hour-and-a-half by foot. But if you’d prefer to stay put, your host can arrange fantastic at-home experiences including cider tasting and cooking classes.

This village house is set on a quiet lane in the charming Cotswolds village of Bledington. While there's plenty of parking space outside, you won't need to drive to get the most out of your stay. The village green and babbling brook are within walking distance, and we think the location is fantastic for a well-behaved dog. The village's famous King's Head pub is a breezy stroll away, but you'll have space outside on the terrace to enjoy an evening drink or an alfresco dinner. Indoors, all the bedrooms are upstairs with their own en-suite bathrooms, and underfloor heating adds a touch of luxury.

The house can be found tucked away amid the rolling countryside of the Cotswolds, just outside of the ancient village of Shipton under Wychwood. There’s no shortage of cosy pubs to call into, whether you’re after a post-hike pint or are on the hunt for a Sunday roast.

On the ground level, there are not just one, but two living rooms, each filled with comfy furnishings and framed artwork, and one with a wood-burning fireplace to curl up next to during the cooler months. The open-concept kitchen-dining area is a contemporary take on the traditional farmhouse kitchen, with a blue range cooker and sleek wooden surfaces. 

Look out the huge glass doors in this space and you'll see the home's walled garden, which has plenty of seating for alfresco gatherings, plus a barbecue and fire pit so festivities can continue into the evening. When you're ready to explore, there's no shortage of scenic walking routes and quaint villages to explore in the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The home itself is situated on a quiet lane which trails into a bridle path at the edge of the village. A fifteen minute stroll this way brings you to Daylesford Organic and the Bamford Wellness Spa, where you can find both organic produce and some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Even closer to home you'll find two of the village's highly acclaimed gastropubs, the Wild Rabbit and the Kingham Plough, just a five-minute walk away. A five-minute drive will take you to Diddly Squat Farm Shop, and a twenty-minute drive will take you to the renowned Soho Farmhouse.

Cotswolds getaways should be full of cosy evenings beside the fire, family dinners around the table, barbecues in the warm weather, lots of lovely walks, and plenty of good pubs. This country house, nestled in the heart of picturesque Kingham, ticks all the boxes and more. 

Built in 1690, a lot of history lies behind these stone brick walls. Traditional touches add a certain grandness to the home, with elegant roll-top sofas, log-burning fireplaces, and vaulted ceilings. But this home is certainly not without its mod-cons – think Sonos music speakers, electric vehicle charger, underfloor heating, super-fast wifi, Ooni pizza oven, the lot. 

The cottage is ideal for both the warmer and colder months. Or, this being England, both types of weather in one day. You can start brisk mornings with a cup of coffee in an armchair, cosy by the fire while reading your book, and finish days off with a sunny barbecue in the garden. 

When it is warm, the garden is the place to be – play a game of football, or simply enjoy the weather while sipping on Pimms. There’s even a vegetable and herb garden. Prepare zingy salads with seasonal homegrown produce, perfectly complementing the grilled meats and fish cooking on the Argentinian grill, or parrilla.  

There’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained at home, but the pub is always a good idea. You’re just a 100-metre walk to some quintessential village pubs.

It's home to chic restaurants, traditional inns, cosy pubs and plenty of independent shops ripe for browsing. With countryside walks on your doorstep and many Cotswolds attractions within driving distance, this is a desirable place to be – and we absolutely adore this cottage, which is smack-dab in the centre of town. Once an antique showroom, this inviting homestead is now filled with local artwork – including paintings by the host's grandfather – as well as The Cotswold Company furniture and every amenity you can think of. Snuggle up with a book in front of the wood-burner, challenge the family to a board game around the dining table or relax with a soak in the sumptuous master bathtub. The private courtyard is the perfect spot to savour a cup of tea or a cocktail in the sun. In the evenings, light the barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal, gathering around the fire pit for toasted marshmallows when the air turns chilly. 

Host Susy goes above and beyond, providing everything you'll need, be it a complete dinner set and kitchen loaded with appliances and crockery to the luxury toiletries in the bathrooms. She can even arrange restaurant reservations and has a whole slew of recommendations, so you'll be in excellent hands.

It's impossible to choose our favourite thing about this cosy Cotswolds cottage. We adore the warm and inviting living area – original wood floors and traditional beams meet modern upgrades like underfloor heating – and with a collection of books, board games and children's toys, there's plenty to keep the whole family busy on rainy days. There's also host Christopher, who goes above and beyond to make your stay here feel like home – after unpacking, make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a slice of the fresh loaf of bread he leaves on arrival. And we can't forget about the grounds, with a dazzling heated indoor pool, Turkish Hammam steam room and communal tennis court for guests to use. If we had to pick, though, we think the five acres of gardens are pretty spectacular. There's nothing better than an afternoon stroll amongst the greenery, watching birds by the pond, admiring the statues and basking in the views over the Cotswolds. In the centre of it all is a unique pavilion inspired by The Alhambra, the perfect spot for outdoor yoga in the morning sun. But if you'd like a change of scenery, the village has two charming pubs and many of the iconic Cotswolds villages are a short drive away, including Stow-on-the-Wold (fifteen minutes away) and Bourton-on-the-Water (twenty minutes by car).

And when it’s time to uncover more of Cotswold’s natural beauty, we suggest starting in the chocolate-box village of Stow-on-the-Wold (just a fifteen-minute drive away) for antique browsing and cream tea. Comfort is at the forefront here, there’s a wood-burning stove that keeps both the lounge and kitchen-diner toasty, underfloor heating to warm toes after long rambles through the countryside and a super king size bed to fall into when you’re all worn out. Outside, a courtyard festooned with wildflowers is the perfect spot for lunches of Double Gloucester cheese and hunks of sourdough bread, picked up from the Farmers’ Market held every second Saturday. Pull on your walking boots and follow the Finstock and Evenlode Walk, a picturesque five-mile loop that starts in the centre of town and passes the Cornbury Park Estate. And when all of that rambling becomes thirsty work, the Bull Inn pub is less than five minutes from your doorstep – stick around for the Sunday roast and chocolate fondant tart.
