In the afternoon, sit out on the south terrace with a pitcher of Pimm’s as the kids play with the puppet theatre in their own private den. Retreat to the drawing-room with your book or drift off in the hammock as the chef of your group gets the barbecue going, ready for an evening of good food and even better company on a balmy summer’s night.

Once a former stable, this home has been transformed into an elegant country house, perfect for escapes to the Cotswolds. Days here are spent in the great outdoors, dining alfresco on the terrace on long summer evenings, strolling through the estate's lush gardens and roaming the country footpaths on your doorstep. Kids can let loose on the playgrounds and jungle gyms, or they can cook up imaginary meals in the fully decked-out wendy house under the stairs. When you need a break from the sun, retreat into the cosy drawing room or gather by the open fire in the living area. There's also a wooden art nouveau sideboard filled with toys and board games for the whole family to enjoy. We loved the kitchen, in particular – it's a great space for home chefs to try out new dishes, using fresh produce and local ingredients picked up at one of the many Cotswolds farm shops. Speaking of local goodies, the welcome basket is filled with treats, from fresh eggs and a homemade cake to a complimentary bottle of wine. There's also much to get up to on the estate– book a treatment at the spa, take a dip in the indoor pool, play a game of ping-pong in the games room or break a sweat in the gym. But if you're craving a day trip, hop in the car and explore the idyllic Cotswolds villages – Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold are both twenty minutes away.

This Cotswolds stone barn sets the tone for an idyllic English countryside escape. With a provincial feel, antique furniture and soft, creamy hues, this home perfectly embodies a modern, country chic style. We were blown away by the vaulted beamed ceilings, sleek bathrooms (complete with rainfall showers) and the fully-equipped kitchen. But the star of the show is the Scandinavian-style log-burner. When it's chilly out, throw another log on the fire and sink a little deeper into the comfy couch, a well-thumbed book in hand. But when the weather's glorious, outside is where you'll spend most of your time. The private terrace is an excellent place to tuck into the goodies from the welcome basket – which is filled with local produce, fresh-squeezed apple juice and a complimentary bottle of  Pomerol – while the surrounding gardens have multiple play areas to keep kids entertained. There are also many on-site amenities to entice you, from the spa (considered one of the best by Tatler) and communal games room to the shared indoor pool and gym. If you're looking to go further afield, cycle and hike around the local area or drive for twenty minutes to chocolate-box villages nearby, including Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford.

It's a design paradox that we just love. Set in the quaint village of Kingham, there's plenty of great pubs, restaurants and woodland footpaths nearby – you're perfectly placed for exploring the sprawling Cotswolds from this pretty cottage. Upon arrival, recharge your batteries with a hearty meal in the bright and airy dining area, benefitting from soaring ceilings and windows that flood the room with light. Cosy up with a good book around the exposed stone hearth fireplace or knock up few light bites in the modern kitchen with exposed beams overhead. While its rustic features add interest, the heated indoor pool and Turkish Hammam really steal the show – treat yourself to a morning dip, before exploring the gardens or sporting your finest whites on the tennis court. With so much to see and do around the home, we just know you'll run out of time at this peaceful oasis.

You’ll be welcomed by a serene garden and cosy rooms with plenty of space to stretch out and spend quality time together. Two of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor, while the first-floor bedroom provides a snug hideaway for younger guests. Private parking is available for one car and you’ll find two of the regions most loved pubs within walking distance. It’s also just a short drive to Daylesford Organic farm shop, Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton.

Tucked away in the quiet Cotswold village of Nether Westcote, this 18th-century barn is a delightful escape just for two. The place is packed with original features, including timber beams and stone walls, creating a rustic yet homely feel throughout. We loved how the cosy seating area with log-burning stove opens up into a bright dining space – the perfect spot for cream tea on summer afternoons. When it’s particularly warm out, sit at the bistro set in the garden with a glass of your favourite tipple and a paperback pulled from the bookcase. 

Take a nine-minute drive to Stow-on-the-Wold for its popular Farmer’s Market or stretch your legs with a ramble to Bourton-on-the-Water – it’ll take you an hour-and-a-half by foot. But if you’d prefer to stay put, your host can arrange fantastic at-home experiences including cider tasting and cooking classes.

Cotswolds getaways should be full of cosy evenings beside the fire, family dinners around the table, barbecues in the warm weather, lots of lovely walks, and plenty of good pubs. This country house, nestled in the heart of picturesque Kingham, ticks all the boxes and more. 

Built in 1690, a lot of history lies behind these stone brick walls. Traditional touches add a certain grandness to the home, with elegant roll-top sofas, log-burning fireplaces, and vaulted ceilings. But this home is certainly not without its mod-cons – think Sonos music speakers, electric vehicle charger, underfloor heating, super-fast wifi, Ooni pizza oven, the lot. 

The cottage is ideal for both the warmer and colder months. Or, this being England, both types of weather in one day. You can start brisk mornings with a cup of coffee in an armchair, cosy by the fire while reading your book, and finish days off with a sunny barbecue in the garden. 

When it is warm, the garden is the place to be – play a game of football, or simply enjoy the weather while sipping on Pimms. There’s even a vegetable and herb garden. Prepare zingy salads with seasonal homegrown produce, perfectly complementing the grilled meats and fish cooking on the Argentinian grill, or parrilla.  

There’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained at home, but the pub is always a good idea. You’re just a 100-metre walk to some quintessential village pubs.

When we visited, we were particularly impressed by the design of the home, with a beautiful blend of traditional country cottage and modern architectural gem. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the home with natural light, while interesting artworks lend a contemporary feel. There are plenty of cosy and welcoming nooks, making it ideal for a group who want a wholesome country break with lots of opportunities for reconnection, whether that’s during late-night fireside chats, rustic meals cooked on the AGA, long country walks or outdoor barbecues on summer nights. It’s surrounded by the most picturesque villages the Cotswolds have to offer. Within walking distance you'll find the award-winning Daylesford organic farm shop and 16th century pub, the Fox at Oddington, for a cracking Sunday roast. Pick up the car and Stow-on-the-Wold is a 10 minute drive away; in less than 20 you'll reach the exclusive Soho Farmhouse. Overall, this is a wow home, filled with natural light and country charm.

Despite its serenely peaceful setting, you’re just a five-minute stroll to the heart of Kingham with award-winning gastropubs.  Make sure to visit the renowned spa and farm shop, just a five-minute drive away, for a spot of pampering. And when it’s time to uncover more of Cotswold’s natural beauty, we suggest starting in the chocolate-box village of Stow-on-the-Wold (just a fifteen-minute drive away) for antique browsing and cream tea. It would be rude not to.

It's impossible to choose our favourite thing about this cosy Cotswolds cottage. We adore the warm and inviting living area – original wood floors and traditional beams meet modern upgrades like underfloor heating – and with a collection of books, board games and children's toys, there's plenty to keep the whole family busy on rainy days. There's also host Christopher, who goes above and beyond to make your stay here feel like home – after unpacking, make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a slice of the fresh loaf of bread he leaves on arrival. And we can't forget about the grounds, with a dazzling heated indoor pool, Turkish Hammam steam room and communal tennis court for guests to use. If we had to pick, though, we think the five acres of gardens are pretty spectacular. There's nothing better than an afternoon stroll amongst the greenery, watching birds by the pond, admiring the statues and basking in the views over the Cotswolds. In the centre of it all is a unique pavilion inspired by The Alhambra, the perfect spot for outdoor yoga in the morning sun. But if you'd like a change of scenery, the village has two charming pubs and many of the iconic Cotswolds villages are a short drive away, including Stow-on-the-Wold (fifteen minutes away) and Bourton-on-the-Water (twenty minutes by car).

The Fairest Of Seasons

From the beautiful views to the cosy rooms, this former grain store makes the perfect setting for a countryside retreat. Inside, there is plenty of space to relax, unwind and socialise. There is a double sofa bed for two guests in the living room, while the main bedroom features an en-suite bathroom – offering a wonderful sense of privacy. Outside, you can enjoy access to a garden with a barbecue and there is lots to explore in the surroundings. Follow hiking trails or adventure further afield to Blenheim Palace and the Cotswold Wildlife Park – just a short drive away.

Tucked in the pretty village of Milton-under-Wychwood, this home opens its doors to a cosy Cotswolds stay. Stepping inside, you’ll be welcomed by snug rooms, an open-fire and all the essentials you could need to settle in and unwind. There’s also a garden and a patio with a barbecue for warm weather days. Private parking is available for one car and it’s just a short stroll to an award-winning pub. It’s also a great base for exploring the Cotswolds. From here, it’s just a short drive to Chipping Norton and Stow-on-the-Wold.

This converted barn is a charming family-friendly home in the little village of Little Rissington. Outside, there is plenty of charm, with a garden to sip wine on summer evenings – fancy a barbecue? Your host can provide one between April and October. The interior is modern but characterful, with a practical kitchen and a log-burning fireplace to cosy up on cooler nights. Location-wise, the Cotswolds offers endless walking trails, and you’ll also find Bourton on the Water and Chipping Norton within easy driving distance.

It's home to chic restaurants, traditional inns, cosy pubs and plenty of independent shops ripe for browsing. With countryside walks on your doorstep and many Cotswolds attractions within driving distance, this is a desirable place to be – and we absolutely adore this cottage, which is smack-dab in the centre of town. Once an antique showroom, this inviting homestead is now filled with local artwork – including paintings by the host's grandfather – as well as The Cotswold Company furniture and every amenity you can think of. Snuggle up with a book in front of the wood-burner, challenge the family to a board game around the dining table or relax with a soak in the sumptuous master bathtub. The private courtyard is the perfect spot to savour a cup of tea or a cocktail in the sun. In the evenings, light the barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal, gathering around the fire pit for toasted marshmallows when the air turns chilly. 

Host Susy goes above and beyond, providing everything you'll need, be it a complete dinner set and kitchen loaded with appliances and crockery to the luxury toiletries in the bathrooms. She can even arrange restaurant reservations and has a whole slew of recommendations, so you'll be in excellent hands.

Embrace timeless Cotswolds charm with a stay in this 18th-century listed farmhouse. Nestled within a private estate and surrounded by the English countryside, this is the perfect setting for a restorative retreat. When you're not enjoying the peace of your private garden (complete with fire pit, barbecue and smoker), you'll have a range of shared facilities to enjoy, including an outdoor heated swimming pool, gym, and tennis court. And for explorations further afield, it’s just a thirty-minute walk to Daylesford, while Stow-on-the-Wold is a twenty-minute drive away.

Set along the lane which inspired L.S Lowery in his Burford Church painting, this cottage is tucked away from visitors and is one of just four on the road which remains part of Burford Boarding School. A peaceful spot, the cottage is just a minute’s walk from the medieval bridge crossing the River Windrush and all the town’s shops, pubs and restaurants. 

With its distinctive honey-coloured Cotswold stone facade, and an Art Deco panel in the front door – the home a nod's not only to the town's extensive history but also to its link to the Art and Crafts Movement. Upon entering the home you'll be warmly welcomed by a typically English countryside retreat revealing an open plan layout featuring a cosy kitchen, dining area and living area with a wood-burning stove. 

At the back of the cottage, you'll find a hidden garden with a patio, small lawn with a garden bench, planted borders as well as a cute little summer house – perfect for sitting with a book amidst the peace and quiet. The east-west orientation of the garden means it has sunshine on it – weather permitting – throughout the day and on into the evening, making it an idyllic spot for a morning coffee through to evening drinks.

When you're ready to explore the local area, stretch your legs with a blissful country walk around the Cotswolds. Try a five-mile walk out of Burford to Great and Little Barrington along the Windrush Valley and back again, or there's always the option of the two-hour circular walk taking in Fulbrook and Woodford on your way. Burford garden centre is only a mile away and you'll conveniently find the nearest pub (The Highway Inn) just 300 metres away. 

When you arrive home, you needn't worry about traipsing mud through the cottage as there is a handy boot room with a sink, hooks to hang coats, plenty of space to keep boots and shoes.

From the Aga in the kitchen for cooking hearty meals in the cooler months to the private patio for alfresco dining in the summer, this is a comfortable base all year round for a small family or close-knit group of friends.
