This Cotswolds stone barn sets the tone for an idyllic English countryside escape. With a provincial feel, antique furniture and soft, creamy hues, this home perfectly embodies a modern, country chic style. We were blown away by the vaulted beamed ceilings, sleek bathrooms (complete with rainfall showers) and the fully-equipped kitchen. But the star of the show is the Scandinavian-style log-burner. When it's chilly out, throw another log on the fire and sink a little deeper into the comfy couch, a well-thumbed book in hand. But when the weather's glorious, outside is where you'll spend most of your time. The private terrace is an excellent place to tuck into the goodies from the welcome basket – which is filled with local produce, fresh-squeezed apple juice and a complimentary bottle of  Pomerol – while the surrounding gardens have multiple play areas to keep kids entertained. There are also many on-site amenities to entice you, from the spa (considered one of the best by Tatler) and communal games room to the shared indoor pool and gym. If you're looking to go further afield, cycle and hike around the local area or drive for twenty minutes to chocolate-box villages nearby, including Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford.

Fresh Squeezed Apple Juice

Charming and cosy, this cottage is in the almost untouched village of Wyck Rissington, one of the Cotswolds’ hidden gems. It’s rich in character and original features, including an inglenook fireplace and wooden beams. Both bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom, making this home as convenient as it is comfortable. The kitchen leads to a terrace and a serene cottage garden, where there’s also a pond. You’ll be just 3 miles from beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water and 4 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold, right in the heart of the Cotswolds. 

The Carriage Door

Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, this charming stone cottage in Burford offers a perfect retreat for a relaxing getaway with friends or family. Set over three floors, there’s plenty of space to spread out and enjoy some quiet time, while in warmer months, the inviting terrace is the ideal spot to gather as a group. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’, Burford serves up independent shops, galleries, and eateries or you can discover the town's rich history at the Tolsey Museum. With Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens a short drive away and picturesque walks on your doorstep, there’s something for everyone here. 

The Cotswold Getaway

A studio apartment with the feel of a Cotswold cottage, this home is aimed at solo travellers seeking a peaceful retreat, or couples looking to explore the picturesque surroundings. Aside from the bathroom, you'll find all the comforts and amenities in one space –  the open plan living room backs straight onto the king size bed, with a dining table for two tucked in the corner and a small kitchen area which actually fits in plenty of useful appliances. While the courtyard is accessible and shared with residents of two other apartments, the garden is not, though the home's location in Burford means you'll be around half an hour's drive from some of the area's most famous cities and charming towns.

Cotswold Sunset

This beautiful Cotswold home is full of surprises. With spectacular far-reaching views from the garden and heaps of space inside, this home has it all – and is perfect for family groups. The breathtaking open-plan kitchen and dining area has a potted tree at its centre and skylights above, making it an excellent spot for family feasts. There are wood-burning stoves and two cosy living rooms, and the bedrooms are all as comfortable as can be. You’ll be perfectly placed to explore the Cotswolds in the village of Leafield, just a short drive from bustling Burford. 

Ashworth House

From the outside, Lovell has that classic look of old-world Cotswolds, with its yellow limestone walls and climbing wisteria, while inside your host has supplemented the home’s original features with super-contemporary furnishings. With a double-sided wood burner separating two sitting rooms, and an outdoor dining space, you’ll be covered in all seasons. The home sits in the historic part of a typically quaint Cotswold village, right on the edge of  Wychwood National Nature Reserve. Walk for a few minutes and you have a terrific country pub, a church, a spa, and a lovely fishing spot on the River Windrush.


Rose by Moonlight

Close to the Cotswold hot-spots of Burford, Lechlade and Bibury, this Grade II-listed property dates back to the 17th Century and was recently lovingly restored to sleep up to 11 guests. It still feels like a traditional home, with its flagstones, mullioned windows and fantastic fireplace, but with all the modern amenities you need. Only a 5-minute drive to the year-round Cotswold Wildlife Park, there’s also a critically-acclaimed gastropub less than 100m away. With a mature southwest-facing walled garden, patio, barbecue for warmer months, snuggle up by the fire, relax in the hot tub, or pack your wellies for scenic walks direct from the front door when it's cooler. With plenty to do nearby, Dunford Barn is a great year-round base for families and adults to explore the best of the Cotswolds.

Dunford Barn

Set on the outskirts of picturesque Quenington, this 18th-century cottage is a calm haven for those looking to explore the Cotswolds at a relaxed pace. It's bright and rustic, the kind of homely interior you'd expect from a historic home, but it doesn't feel outdated. In fact, they lean into modernity here – you'll find fast wi-fi, a smart tv, and an electric vehicle charging here. The vibrant greenery covering the home echoes the surrounding landscape, which you can explore more closely on walking and hiking trails. Two pubs are within walking distance, and the River Coln and knights gate aren't much further.  

The Chimney Sweeper

Flooded with natural light, this idyllic country cottage is the perfect getaway for a group or family looking to up sticks and throw themselves into Cotswolds living - it's no wonder it won Silver at The Beautiful South Awards 2022. Dating back to 1850, it has an abundance of original features (including exposed brick walls, a spectacular fireplace, rich wooden beams and stone walls), but a luxurious, contemporary makeover has transformed it into an extraordinarily comfortable stay. 

The two lounges are the heart of the home, made extra cosy by the roaring inglenook wood-burner and underfloor heating, and they make it so you'll never want to leave once you're stretched out on one of the sofas. Oh and you'll be wowed by the spectacular sun room all the same. Guests who love to cook will enjoy making use of the large kitchen and hosting dinners either in the stone dining room or out on the sunny terrace with its glorious countryside views. The bedrooms are all elegantly styled with soft colour schemes and goose-down bedding – we particularly love the Barcelona chair in front of the French doors in the master bedroom, as well as the gigantic free-standing bath, perfect for an indulgent bubble-filled soak. 

With such stunning interiors, you'll be torn between cosying up and outdoor living while staying here – but the pristine, flower-filled garden that surrounds the home will have you jumping with joy once the sun comes out. Enjoy discovering the local charm of the Cotswolds which combines peace and quiet with endless nature and a touch of quintessential English countryside culture. 

Honey Gables

This Grade II listed cottage dates back hundreds of years. It’s been lovingly converted into a holiday home, adding modern amenities while maintaining its historic charm – the original well is even in the garden. There’s a wood-burning stove to keep things cosy in cooler weather, and a patio with alfresco seating for spring and summer stays. The cottage is located at the bottom of Burford’s high street – an iconic Cotswolds setting. There are pubs, restaurants, and shops right on the doorstep. 

The Old Well

Twenty minutes along the road, Little ones will love all the fun to be had at Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park.

You’ll find this charming Grade II listed cottage in the village of Eastleach. Surrounded by countryside, it’ll tick all your holiday boxes if you’re seeking somewhere you can truly switch off and relax. With traditional interiors, it’s a real home away from home, but it’s the outdoor space that really caught our eye. With a split-level garden, you can relax on the terrace or follow the secret walkway to the manicured lawns – perfect for those bringing their four-legged friends along for the adventure.
