When the weather does play ball, you can play croquet, badminton, volleyball, Giant Jenga or try your hand at kite-flying. Alternatively, you can lace up your walking boots and head out into the countryside for a bracing walk. The town of Chipping Norton can be reached in ten minutes by car, too.

This is generally a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts but it’s also only a short drive to Oxford if you fancy an afternoon in town.

Upstairs, we love the views from the master bedroom over the charming street with its higgledy-piggledy Cotswold stone houses. This home is just the ticket for a couple looking for a romantic countryside break.

Situated in the gorgeous Evenlode Valley, Charlbury is surrounded by beautiful Cotswold countryside. There are so many lovely walks to enjoy, including one along the River Evenlode to Ditchley Park. Hikers can also take advantage of the Oxfordshire Way, which passes through the town. For everyday needs, there’s a convenience store 300 metres away. A farmer’s market is also held quarterly on the 2nd Saturday in March, June, September, and December. 

Or pop to the local deli, just a one-minute walk from this home. It’s the same distance to the pub, a 16th-century coaching inn if you fancy a hearty meal or just a drink. Other attractions in the area include Blenheim Palace, which is 11 kilometres from this adorable cottage.

Location-wise, you’re a seven-mile drive from the market towns of Witney and Chipping Norton, and you’ll find a choice of local pubs in town – ideal for a well-deserved pint after a walk in the countryside. Your host Nick has worked very hard to ensure this home is as eco as possible including solar panels, triple glazed windows, underfloor heating, a clover lawn which sequesters carbon and even sustainable toiletries. A beautiful home thats also kind to nature - the perfect stay for the environmentally conscious.

There’s also a pool house with a gym and a children’s playground – making this a great option for families. Inside, there’s a cosy drawing room, a study, a cinema room and seven cosy bedrooms – one of which features a bath in the room itself. By day, you can explore Broughton Castle and follow hiking trails through the Oxfordshire countryside.

This home is just as charming as the idyllic town in which it sits. The interior eschews minimalism for full-on floral patterns, characterful pieces of botanical artwork and vintage-inspired furnishings — can you honestly say you weren't happy to see that four-poster bed?

While the kitchen may be on the smaller side and lacks a hob, oven or cooking facilities, fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants in Woodstock, from a brasserie to less formal pubs. In addition, Blenheim Palace and its surrounding parkland can be entered in three mintues' walk from your front door. Further afield, the walking routes and viewpoints of the Cotswolds AONB can be reached easily in the car.

Sat within the grounds of a working farm in rural Oxfordshire, this cottage is as cute as a button. The interior has been fully modernised — save for the stone fireplace — although it still feels homely thanks to the rural artwork on the walls and the plush furnishings. Add to that a sleek tub in the bathroom and relaxing should be no problem at all.

That's even more so the case on summer afternoons, as there's a garden with seating and a table.
