You’re right in the heart of the Victorian, coastal town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea. The seaside resort is wonderfully charming, with a long stretch of golden sand – the perfect spot for reading your book and enjoying your fish and chips. A walk along the iconic pier is a must, soaking in the vast views of the North Sea. If you get the itch for a longer walk, the Valley Gardens are an enchanting maze of flower-lined paths and you can also join the 100-mile-long Cleveland Way National Trail from Saltburn.

Just a nine-minute walk from the sandy beach, it's conveniently close to the train station, on one of the town's main streets. Set on the top floor of a period terrace, there are views across the rooftops from its twin living room windows. Decorated in modern neutral shades and with a  lovely flow to the layout, it's a perfect apartment for a couple or a solo traveller. We particularly love the huge, comfy bed and the oversize shower in the bathroom. Freshly renovated, everything feels new and high-end.

With a well-kitted-out kitchen (complete with a vintage stove now used as a decorative piece) you can easily knock up meals at home, but eating out is easy with pubs and cafes on your doorstep. Stroll down to the lower promenade for a walk, taking in the pier, experience the country's oldest functioning cliff lift and admire the colourful beach huts.

 Housed in a charming Victorian townhouse just minutes from Saltburn Beach, this penthouse apartment puts you in an ideal spot to explore the delights of  Saltburn-by-the-Sea and its sparkling coastline. 
 
Inside, light pours in through the living room’s skylight casting a cheerful glow on the chic, minimalist space. We love the Chesterfield-style sofa here that invites cosying up on it with a mug of tea and a good book, while the dining table is all set to host celebratory fish suppers when you’re not out sampling the local seafood restaurants. 
 
The bedrooms, meanwhile, are pared-back and wonderfully comfortable, with one boasting a scenic skylight and a desk space, and the other offering an equally dreamy sleep in its beautifully dressed bed. Our favourite feature, however, has to be the bathroom’s romantic clawfoot tub, beckoning blissful evenings soaking in bubbles, a glass of bubbly in hand. 
 
When it comes to things to see and do nearby, spend sunny days at Saltburn Beach (a seven-minute walk) or ride the UK’s oldest functioning cliff lift (also a seven-minute walk) down to the promenade to explore the 208-metre pier which stretches out into the sea. You’re also a ten-minute stroll from the Saltburn Miniature Railway and you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic walking paths, including those around the Saltburn Valley Gardens, ten minutes on foot from your door too.

We think this home has a fabulous location, a short walk from the golden sands of Saltburn Beach. If you’re feeling energetic, you could go for surf lessons here. Or, do some beachcombing, then explore the 208-metre pier. For fantastic views of the North Sea, take a ride on the Cliff Tramway or simply enjoy the many restaurants, pubs and cafes on your doorstep. Alternatively, keen hikers can walk the stunning Cleveland Way – it's a great way to discover the rugged North Yorkshire coastline.

Sitting opposite Saltburn's seafront, there are some glorious coastal views out through the tall windows to be had from this rather elegant home and the host has even been kind enough to provide some binoculars so you can spot boats out on the horizon and seabirds flying overhead from the comfort of the living room.

When it comes to the home itself, the rooms are large and filled with natural light, although sometime this expansiveness can work against it, as in the rather bare-looking living room. That being said, there are lots of design features that really catch the eye – the modern chandelier in the living room is certainly striking and the glass dining table next to the bay window feels chic. Culinary whizzes will love the wealth of surface space in the kitchen, too.

To the front of the home, there's seating on the American-style covered porch on which you cook up dinner on the barbecue and catch the sun setting over the North Sea, as well as an enclosed garden big enough for pets or kids to run wild. When the overriding desire to visit the beach becomes too much, you can be standing on the sands or walking along the pier in under five minutes on foot. You're not too far from the town centre when you need restaurants and shops, while the miniature railway is a charming attraction to visit and less than ten minutes' walk away.
