Covered in vibrant green ivy, this quaint cottage in Somerset benefits from the expansive grounds it shares with a breathtaking manor house. Wander out for a walk around the pond and past the horses until you find the perfect spot for a rest. Bask in the tranquillity as you get your nose in a Jane Austen novel and pour yourself tea from a thermos. The cottage itself also overlooks the Victorian stable yard, which adds even more grandeur to the view, so don’t be too surprised if you find yourself daydreaming. 

When you’re not out exploring hiking up the Tor at Glastonbury, or driving out towards Devon or Cornwall, you can stay in, curling up on the sofa with a freshly-brewed coffee after polishing off a hearty breakfast at the little dining counter right by the window. With the warmth of the exposed beams and cosy furnishings, this space is perfectly set up for lounging around, but if the weather permits, we recommend a picnic on the grass right outside. 

Break out the board games after supper, or watch a family movie together. Or, on warmer evenings, you can simply stay outside, drinking in the peaceful surroundings, and great company, under the stars.

The rustic kitchen and ample dining space are perfect for those who love to cook with love for their family. The Wendy house, tire swing, and games room provide endless entertainment for children who love to play. 

Wooden beams adorn the ceilings, adding to the farm life vibes. Look out of the window to spot any free–roaming ducks from the surrounding one–hundred acres of land, who have come to say hello. You may also hear the clucks of the neighbouring chickens.

Guests can enjoy the sprawling countryside with nature walks and wildlife photography. Feeling adventurous? Pop down to The Bear Trail, an obstacle course packed full of challenges that will leave you craving a sit down at the end of the day. Luckily for you, this home provides guests with plenty of seating areas – inside and out.

Wood & Stone

This apartment is ideal for a couple seeking a convenient base in Taunton. It’s simple in style but has everything you might need for a short break, including a well-equipped kitchen in the open-plan living and dining area. You can enjoy riverside views while you relax in between visiting the nearby shops and eateries. Outdoorsy types can look forward to exploring the picturesque countryside that surrounds Taunton – the Quantock Hills are to the west, and the Blackdown Hills are to the south.

It’s worth noting it’s possible to hear street noise from the neighbouring bar, but you will have incredible sea views from the cosy living room. A car parking permit can be supplied on request. Plus, you’ll find everything you could need within easy reach. Stroll to the beach or adventure further along the Jurassic Coast towards Sidmouth and Axminster. 

The Way by the Sea

This charming cottage comes with a setting as picturesque and comforting as its interiors. It sits in the centre of the beautiful village of Stockland and benefits from having a fully enclosed southwest-facing courtyard with views of the village church and countryside beyond. You can soak up the sunshine (and a glass of bubbles) with your loved one and experience a moment of pure bliss. While staying at home by the crackling fire and with good company is always great idea, we encourage you to go out and enjoy a country walk right from your doorstep, or plan a day of seaside fun and fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast. Best of all, you'll come back home to a sumptuous bathroom with underfloor heating and a generous bathtub or a walk-in rainfall shower to pick from, and a luxurious super king-size bed where you'll sleep like royalty. Drenched in history and charm, Where The Ways Part makes for a romantic bolthole in the unspoilt rural landscape of the Blackdown Hills.

With walking trails and National Trust gems nearby, there’s plenty to explore. The home is set over three floors, so it's worth bearing in mind you’ll need to climb stairs to access the bedrooms. However the space, views, and sense of escape make it well worth it.

 The Merriott House

And while there’s an abundance of charm and character, you’ll also find plenty of contemporary comforts to bring luxurious ease to your country escape. From the grand dining hall and billiard room to the elegant drawing room and cosy bedrooms, every detail has been considered to inspire optimum relaxation. It’s also the perfect venue for special events, weddings and intimate gatherings with catering and organised experiences available on request. Outside, explore ancient woodlands, historic buildings and an organic farm. It’s also just a short drive to the majestic Quantock Hills and less than two hours from London. 

Place of Beauty

This recently remodelled home on the Devon/Dorset border is perfect for a countryside retreat. Positioned on the edge of a historic, seventeenth-century farm, just a short way from Lambert’s Castle and five miles from Lyme Regis and Charmouth on the Jurassic coast, the area promises exciting day trips and outstanding natural beauty. Whether you’re after rural rambles or swimming in the sea, there's something to pique your interest. Inside, underfloor heating means you'll be toasty warm no matter the weather, while floor-to-ceiling windows ensure guests enjoy a splendid view from every corner of the home. Food is important to your chef host, so despite the compact size of the kitchen it contains everything you could need. We'd definitely recommend sampling charcuterie made from his rare breed pigs and you'll be supplied with farm fresh eggs on arrival. The comfortable bed is perfectly positioned to catch a glimpse of the stars through remote-controlled skylight

Meadow View

Part of a former 16th century farmhouse, this cute home in the Somerset countryside is perfect for a peaceful escape. Secluded and intimate, it has a homely vibe that's made for couples on a romantic getaway. 

A fireplace and wood burning stove create a cosy ambiance, supported by the low-vaulted wooden beams and comfy sofa. Whether you're visiting in the glorious months of summer or the romantic winter season, the living room is a snug place to settle with a cup of hot chocolate or tea.

If you do visit in the summer, you'll love dining alfresco on the table in the courtyard. Share toast in the mornings, complemented by a cup of coffee, before moving on to a glass of cava in the evenings. Picturesque and quiet, the only sounds you'll hear are the birds singing in the skies above. 

If you fancied spreading your legs further than the courtyard, you'll reach the award-winning pubs in Broadway in just a few minutes' walk. Slightly further up the road, the quaint town Ilminster can be reached in five minutes by car – here, you'll find coffee shops, vintage stores and inviting cafes.

If you like the idea of escaping the city for a charm-filled cottage, but could do without dusty beams and draughty doors, this is the right home for you. 

The cottage is warm and welcoming, the perfect setting for a romantic escape. Curl up on the sofa and admire the lush garden as you sip Champagne. When the weather is fine, open up the glass doors to create a stunning indoor/outdoor space. Whip up meals in the kitchen to enjoy outside in the garden, or fire up the barbecue for a real alfresco treat – you might like to walk to the nearby farm shop for local goodies to cook. Soak up the sunshine outside and enjoy the countryside views. In the evening, get cosy around the fire pit before sinking into the oh-so-comfortable bed upstairs. 

You could happily spend your days here, playing board games, reading, and admiring the garden, but if you do want to explore further afield, you have plenty of choice. The East Mendip Way passes right by the cottage, so bring your hiking boots if you want to get a bit closer to the Great Outdoors. It takes thirty-two minutes to drive to Bath, where you can admire the Roman Baths and explore the galleries, museums and theatres – not to mention the excellent array of eateries. Or perhaps you’ll just pootle around the countryside, popping into charming villages – Mells and Bruton are close by – and country pubs whenever the fancy strikes? Soho House members will enjoy its proximity to Babington House. However you spend your time here, you’ll love having such a delightful place to call home.


Miss Honey's Cottage

This modern apartment in the centre of Taunton is an ideal base for couples or solo travellers exploring Somerset and Devon. You can find walking trails nearby, like Quantock Hills to the west and Blackdown Hills to the south, and the beaches of Bridgewater are less than an hour away by car. Back home, Taunton's restaurants are just a five-minute walk away. Feel like staying in? You can enjoy a home-cooked meal in the open-plan kitchen and dining area before curling up on the sofa with a glass of wine or running yourself a nice, hot bath after a day of walking.
