The cottage is warm and welcoming, the perfect setting for a romantic escape. Curl up on the sofa and admire the lush garden as you sip Champagne. When the weather is fine, open up the glass doors to create a stunning indoor/outdoor space. Whip up meals in the kitchen to enjoy outside in the garden, or fire up the barbecue for a real alfresco treat – you might like to walk to the nearby farm shop for local goodies to cook. Soak up the sunshine outside and enjoy the countryside views. In the evening, get cosy around the fire pit before sinking into the oh-so-comfortable bed upstairs. 

You could happily spend your days here, playing board games, reading, and admiring the garden, but if you do want to explore further afield, you have plenty of choice. The East Mendip Way passes right by the cottage, so bring your hiking boots if you want to get a bit closer to the Great Outdoors. It takes thirty-two minutes to drive to Bath, where you can admire the Roman Baths and explore the galleries, museums and theatres – not to mention the excellent array of eateries. Or perhaps you’ll just pootle around the countryside, popping into charming villages – Mells and Bruton are close by – and country pubs whenever the fancy strikes? Soho House members will enjoy its proximity to Babington House. However you spend your time here, you’ll love having such a delightful place to call home.

Stone floors run throughout the home – some old, some more recent – each documenting the evolution of this building over time. The garden pool is certainly a new addition, along with a dreamy pool house complete with changing rooms and a restorative steam room. On fine days, lounge out by the heated waters and enjoy a lazy alfresco lunch before treating yourself to a steam – plus, an automated cover keeps the pool at the ideal temperature all the time. The home itself is furnished in a contemporary farmhouse style with every detail attended to – offering a combination of cutting-edge modern spaces and a cosy cottage feel. The large kitchen is the heart of the home, with a beautifully restored AGA offering post-walk warmth on cold winter days. Of course, if you’d rather sprawl out on the couch, there’s plenty to choose from with their own wood burners to keep you warm. For spring and summer living, the kitchen conservatory is pretty remarkable – floor-to-ceiling sliding doors in the dining area open out onto the garden and rolling countryside. Upstairs, the impeccably styled bedrooms are decorated with floral print wallpaper, super-soft throws, and armchairs. The master bedroom even manages to fit an elegant freestanding bath alongside the dressing table – sneak away in the afternoons and take a blissfully relaxing soak. Outside, a terraced garden is spread over various levels, complete with a croquet lawn and even a mature woodland. If you’d like a break from country solitude, it’s just a twenty-minute walk to Babington House, perfect for Soho House club members to grab drinks, food and use the facilities. This semi-detached cottage in Somerset is surrounded by beautiful gardens and countryside. French doors from the living room open onto a private outdoor space with a small patio area, perfect for your morning cup of tea with a view of the wildflower meadow, and the shared gardens are available for your use too. There’s even a zip wire, trampoline, and climbing frame for your little ones to let off steam. In the summer mornings, why not explore the gardens or swim in the pool, and in the colder winter months we would love to curl up with a good book in front of the log fire.

Pop on your boots in the designated boot room, and walk from this home along the river – for about twenty-nine minutes – to Nunney. Here you can have a great lunch at the George Inn, ice cream or coffee at the cafe, and explore the impressive medieval castle, complete with a moat. 

Visit the market town of Frome – just an eight-minute drive away – with its abundance of independent shops, pubs, and cobbled streets with rivers running down them. Once a month, Frome also hosts a vibrant street market full of artisan food, craft makers, and much more. 

Plus, slightly further away – just thirty-two minutes away by car – you can also reach the city of Bath. Here, you can explore the Roman Baths, the cathedral, see the Royal Crescent, do some shopping, or even spend a day at the spa.

There’s no better way to embrace the ethereal Somerset countryside around Glastonbury than staying in a converted church. In the evening, the stained-glass windows of this gothic church still glow against the landscape, as a roaring wood-burning stove warms up the open living space inside. 30-foot, knaved ceilings inside let the chatter of good times rise to the Gods and there’s a banquet-sized dining table for the whole group on the mezzanine level. Admire the rose stained-glass windows as you sup. 

The kitchen is tucked away and has everything you need for self-catering One of our favourite spots is the sunroom, set with tables and chairs for an idyllic afternoon tea. Either that or the hand-painted claw-foot tub in the main bathroom – ideal for a soak after hiking up Glastonbury Tor. Or, soak the day away in the outdoor hot tub.

This church is tucked into the hamlet of East Horrington, a ten-minute drive from the Cathedral town of Wells where you’ll find shops, cafés and plenty of places to eat. It’s a twenty-minute drive to Glastonbury and the countryside in between is full of walking and cycling trails to explore.

A lot of time and thought has been put into converting the historic chapel that is now The Burrow. Nestled in a tranquil spot of countryside surrounded by rolling hills, the space feels authentically rustic but still comfortable and elegant. The tall arch windows provide floods of natural light and beautiful views of the landscape, including the inviting (and heated) swimming pool. While remote location would be difficult for guests without a car, it also makes it a great spot for a romantic getaway. 



The Burrow

This is one of the quirkiest spots for a romantic break we’ve seen – half of a Grade-II listed church, transformed initially into a photographic studio and now an apartment. It's larger than your typical studio and feels more like an open-plan one bed with a semi-separate kitchen and gorgeous original features, making it a wonderful spot to hunker down for a weekend in Somerset. Use it as a base to explore the countryside – there are walks galore in this quiet and secluded spot, although it’s just eight miles to Bath and twelve to Wells if you fancy a change of pace. Alternatively, you can just stay in and chill in the modern but cosy environment. Guests benefit from underfloor heating and a wood burner in the winter months, or an outdoor bench in the glorious garden when the weather gets warmer. You’ll be praising your hosts that you’ve found such a heavenly spot.

You can look forward to sunny afternoons in the garden, taking in the views of Orchardleigh Estate. Perhaps you’ll cook on the barbecue while the kids play. Evenings and rainy days will be spent around the log burner, playing board games or curled up on the oh-so-comfortable sofa. Your four-legged friends are welcome to join, too, so nobody has to miss out. 

It takes twenty-one minutes to stroll along the River Frome into Frome itself, where you’ll find independent shops and charming cafes. It’s a lovely town to mooch around, set amid Somerset countryside. Woodland walks are right on your doorstep, so make sure you bring your boots. The gorgeous National Trust property of Stourhead is twenty minutes away by car, and is well worth a run out.

If you're looking for a classic country cottage – call the search off. With its idyllic walled garden and a luxury interior, this Grade II listed home is the perfect romantic retreat – just the ideal place to spend quality time with loved ones. Host Aisha has lovingly decorated this place with distinguished collectables and antiques, including the wonderful wardrobe in the master bedroom. Watch the sun set over the Somerset hills from the lush grounds – we love the stunning views from here. Later, relax in the hot tub or have a soak in the gorgeous slipper bath. When you're ready to venture out, the Georgian splendour of Bath is a twenty-minute drive away. Spend the day exploring the Royal Crescent, the Circus and the Roman Baths, as well as the many museums such as the Jane Austen Centre. Then unwind at the Thermae Bath Spa with its roof-top pool. For a more relaxed pace, there's a pub and café for lunch in Timsbury, around a five-minute stroll. Or put on your hiking boots and explore the glorious Somerset countryside.

Mingle with the movers, shakers, and millionaires in its gastropubs, independent shops, and art galleries. Or don your walking boots for bracing country walks – the house has direct access to a quiet lane leading onto the rolling countryside surrounding Bruton.

Back home, there’s room for all ten of you to pile into this magnificent three-storey home. Filled to the rafters with Georgian architectural details, original flagstone floors and exposed brickwork archways strike a note of authenticity, while a contemporary extension housing the open concept living space is firmly in the 21st century. And we love how pared back and gloriously clutter-free everywhere feels, allowing the contemporary artwork and vintage statement furniture to do all the talking.

On sunny mornings, spill out into the garden room and slide back the French doors onto the suntrap patio – there’s an outdoor dining area complete with a built-in barbecue that’s prime for lazy breakfasts or alfresco evening meals. Winter evenings are all about getting around that Fritz Hansen dining room table with original Eames chairs for slap-up dinners and catch-ups. And you can always keep the night flowing with a game of table tennis in the games room, squirreled away in the ancient stone garage. Or get your game face on for a late-night session around that Edwardian poker table.

The attention to detail the host has displayed in renovating the home is astounding – it goes without saying that this countryside manor is dripping in Georgian charm, but it’s also got all of the modern luxuries to guarantee a truly comfortable stay. The traditional English garden and opulent interior feel plucked from a novel, and with a private gym, pool, hot tub and games room, there’s certainly no shortage of things to do when staying here. From the grandiose central gallery hallway and its columns to the winding staircase and original stained glass roof light – admire the opulent period features adorning the home. We love the floor-to-ceiling Georgian sash windows and doors that allow floods of natural light to flow through the property whatever the weather. Open the doors upon a summer's afternoon and head out to make the most of the fairytale garden. Perfectly manicured, the expansive lawns are decorated with wildflower beds, ponds and trees that have been around as long as the house itself. Let the kids run wild on the private playground equipped with a treehouse, swings and slides galore. The picturesque setting is more than enough to allow the adults to catch some respite from busy working lives too – gin and tonic anyone? Providing the perfect spot for reunions, celebrations and corporate group trips – this house is as versatile as its stunning country location. Situated just a five-minute walk away from a quality gastropub, Holcombe is a prime base from which to discover the various local attractions that Somerset offers. Both barns have an ample amount of sunlight streaming in through the large windows, both with large doors that grant access to the charming, verdant garden and outdoor dining area. Cook up hearty homemade meals in the kitchen and tuck into a tasty plate of food alfresco style, accompanied by the scenic backdrop of the surrounding landscape. Unwind in the luxurious brass bath as the daylight streams in, making it shine and sparkle– you'll feel like royalty.

Take the children to Longleat Safari Park, where you can drive through the monkey safari park, admire the gorilla enclosure, find your way through the hedge maze and relax with a cup of coffee at the Chameleon Tree cafe – there's even more on offer too. The National Trust Cley Hill is also within driving distance, a historical landmark that provides a gorgeous view of the countryside – perfect for a lovely walk with the family, offering a ton of photo opportunities to show your loved ones back at home.

If you’re looking for a group retreat that combines luxury accommodation with a mystical quality then, abracadabra! This is the one. Influenced by its proximity to Glastonbury (five minutes from the town centre), with its witchcraft myths and Arthurian legends, this home's defining characteristic is quirk, from the architectural details that resemble enchanted oak trees to the dedicated midnight badger-watching spot in the garden. However, while most esoteric accommodation tends to the tumbledown end of the rustic spectrum, this unusual abode is practically palatial. Everything is to the highest spec, including a sound system with ceiling speakers, large American-style fridge-freezer and memory foam mattresses. Originally a cottage dating back to 1580, it’s been substantially extended to add luxury bed-and-bath spaces – the master is our favourite, with its cocktail balcony and freestanding bath – and a ten-metre entertainment pod, with underfloor heating, a constellation ceiling, Bang & Olufsen widescreen TV and Wifi sound system. If you're staying for Glastonbury, a special festival package that includes free Sunday tickets can be arranged ahead of time. Your hosts can provide a welcome hamper full of locally sourced snacks, elderflower and still water upon request, or if you’re planning an extra special visit, they can wave a wand to arrange an in-house chef and full catering – perfect for that full-moon ceremony.

This charming cottage puts you right at the heart of the city’s historic centre, within walking distance of the famous cathedral, market and an array of shops and eateries, meaning you can leave the car at home. The neighbouring cities like Bath and Glastonbury are also easily accessible by bus, meaning you can tick several places off your bucket list in one stay. The cottage itself has a cosy air thanks to a log burner exposed stone fireplace, offering a warm space to gather at the end of each day.

From the moment you see the grand stone exterior and cobbled courtyard, you’ll know that this ever-so-charming home is steeped in history. It's a former malthouse that’s over 300 years old and filled with traditional features. When you step into the entrance hall, you’re entering through the large oak door onto the original cart-way, and as you start trying to choose which bedroom you want to lay claim to, you’ll be winding your way up a turret stairway with rope bannisters, surrounded by wooden beams and original fireplaces. The interior has been fully renovated, with a modern handmade kitchen, squishy sofas, and cute-as-a-button bedrooms. Sip your afternoon tea perched on the sunny window seat with a good book in hand (there's an extensive collection to choose from), while gazing at the expansive green views of the playing fields and village church in the backdrop. Elsewhere, the large 14-seater pine dining table will be the perfect spot to savour a slow dinner with the entire group. Although in the garden you'll notice a patio, complete with outdoor furniture, that’s ideal for wine and cheese nights – there's a large lawn and a range of outdoor games available too (including table tennis) for hours of early evening fun. You don’t have to go far to continue the historical theme, as the pub next door is one of the oldest in the country and has been the resting place for many a monarch visiting the area since the 15th century. The surrounding county town, Frome, just a fifteen-minute drive away, was voted one of the best places to live in the UK - explore the rich history, shop at independent boutiques, buy fresh produce at the local market or dine at one of the many eateries dotted around nearby.
