Bedrooms are smart, spacious and supremely comfortable, with the top-floor bedroom boasting a huge private balcony. Barbecue by the pool, walk just a couple of minutes into the village with its pubs, tea rooms and medieval castle, visit the National Nature Reserve of Orford Ness or drive to the pretty seaside town of Aldeburgh in just twenty minutes.

There is plenty of history to be found in this glorious period home in Orford, which dates back to the 16th century. You’ll find yourself admiring the antique details, such as the exposed beams, inglenook fireplace, plaster pargeting and traditional wooden staircase, all of which add to the unique, cosy ambience. 

Groups of friends or family will have plenty of room to spread out in the generous living areas, and kids will love the snug, giving them their own space to chill out and play. The lovely open-plan kitchen and dining area will inspire you to rustle up delicious meals, which can be enjoyed at the huge dining table. 

The garden has a barbecue and seating area, where you can dine alfresco on warm summer evenings, or start your day sipping your coffee while you enjoy the gorgeous views across the marshes. 

For those who feel the call of the water, Orford Quay with its launch ramp and boat trips is just a couple of hundred metres away from the house. There are also picturesque walks to be had, with the Rendlesham forest nearby, and the charming beach town of Aldeburgh is just a short drive away too. 

Come bedtime, climb into one of the splendid four-poster beds for a blissful night’s sleep under the Tudor roof.

This tranquil cottage is tucked into the historic streets of Orford and set within a magical walled garden. With views of the castle, it's the perfect combination of period features and modern styling. A sleek and perfectly kitted-out kitchen is set alongside a country-style dining area, which leads into a cosy living room fitted with plush sofas and a contemporary log burner. Bedrooms are all of a good size and super comfortable, and we're big fans of the rain showers. But the real showstopper here has to be the enclosed garden. Let the kids run free on the lawn, while you eat outside at the garden table. Along with a long drive for private parking and a rather grand pine tree providing a focal point, the outdoor space here is enough to make us envious. Within easy walking distance of Orford Castle, and loads of independent shops, pubs and cafes (as well as the beautiful River Alde), this place really hits the spot. And best of all it's just a ten-minute walk to the stunning landscape of Orford Ness.

A new home built in keeping with traditional local architecture, this delightful timber cottage overlooks acres of farmland. Set on a quiet country road, it's replaced a former farm outbuilding and takes in uninterrupted views across the fields. 

Designed to be as roomy and modern inside as it is characterful outside, you'll have a bright, open home over two floors. With all-white walls and wood floors, there's a crisp, contemporary look to everything, with comfy, practical furnishings. A well-kitted-out kitchen is open-plan to the dining area and sofas, while two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows feature patio doors out to the covered terrace. And we love the large bedroom upstairs, with its pretty views and iron bed.

Dog-friendly, you can head off for walkies each morning or jump in the car and drive to nearby Orford Ness or Aldeburgh. Walk or cycle to the heart of Orford in less than half an hour, take in a music event at Snape Maltings or cycle to the nearest pub for lunch – it's all within easy reach.

This handsome, red brick barn conversion offers peace and tranquillity in the Suffolk countryside. With a large open-plan living room and expansive kitchen-diner, there’s plenty of space to spread out. Wake up with a coffee and the newspaper and settle down by the wood-burning stove or whip up a cooked breakfast in the kitchen. And if the sun is shining, take the plates outside and dine alfresco in the garden. There are plenty of footpaths nearby and lots of local wildlife to be discovered, so be sure to pack your binoculars. The pretty village of Orford is a twenty-minute walk away, home to restaurants, pubs and the unique polygonal tower of Orford Castle. If you fancy swapping rolling pastures for sand and sea, it’s only a twenty-minute drive to the pretty coastal town of Aldeburgh.

This statuesque townhouse on the Suffolk coast is the perfect retort to the idea that beach-themed decor is kitschy and overdone. Artistic prints of shells and sea life adorn the walls, with nautical blues and whites providing a base for the contemporary furnishings – this home is seaside chic at its most sophisticated. It’s spread out over three floors so there’s plenty of space to socialise and with a self-contained garden flat, the layout works well for two families or a group of friends who would appreciate some privacy as well. 

The first floor offers large French doors leading out to a magnificent standing balcony overlooking Aldeburgh Beach, the boating lake and the sea, while the space is kept cosy and comfortable with squishy sofas, armchairs and an animal print rug. Elsewhere, stripped pine floors, grey tones and elegant decor make up the bedrooms and there's a modern kitchen for the keen chefs of the group. But our favourite spot has to be out in the shaded courtyard, with a nice cup of coffee and a good book. 

Outside, the big draw of this home is that it's right by the shore, meaning paddling in the sea and midnight strolls are just a few steps away. The rest of Aldeburgh is right on your doorstep, with trendy bars and boutiques rubbing shoulders with traditional fish and chip shops and quaint English pubs.

Tucked away in Rendlesham Forest, this quintessentially English cottage is as dreamily secluded as it is beautifully striking. The brick-and-stone facade contrasts with the modern extension. Lofty windows capture sweeping green views of woodland and rolling fields, and fill the home with glorious light. These views are best seen from the master bedroom where you'll find high ceilings, decorative beams, and a modern country aesthetic. This home has a farmhouse feel - window sills and kitchen cupboards are painted a cool sage green and you'll find a wood-burning stove in the sitting room. Cooking in the stunning rustic kitchen is easy with its modern amenities, and the exposed brickwork, colourful rugs and elegant dining space make for an idyllic socialising spot. Nature is so easy to access here as the back gate opens directly onto the forest. You can walk for miles or take the 15-minute drive to the beach at Shingle Street for a day at the seaside. This one's definitely a keeper.

Set in the tiny riverside village of Snape, this characterful cottage is like a fairy-tale setting come to life – but with better wifi. In the charming streets close by, you’ll find cosy pubs for a swift pint and hearty grub and village shops for browsing. Or head for Snape Maltings on the River Alde (ten minutes on foot), where you’ll find a myriad of boutiques, galleries, cafes, restaurants, a farmers market, and grand performance spaces – it’s the location for the renowned Aldeburgh music festival. And let’s not forget the coast. Make the morning of it and walk the picturesque six-mile path along the Alde estuary to Aldeburgh’s coastline, or jump in the car, and you’ll be there in nine minutes flat. But there’s plenty to do without ever leaving the property; lounge on the grass in the spacious, landscaped garden before firing up the barbecue, or dive into a good book in front of the wood-burning stove. We’re big fans of the light-filled extension at the rear of the home, which floods the dining room, hall, and contemporary kitchen with natural light. It’s a wonderful spot to gather the troops over lazy breakfasts as you hatch plans for your next adventure in Suffolk.

The Suffolk Coast and Heaths is one of only forty-six areas given the title ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. And when your home is located in the award-winning region itself, it’s easy to see why. This cottage is one of six converted barns dotted around a central courtyard in the lush, Suffolk countryside. The farmyard sounds may be gone (although there’s still a working livery onsite), but the rural charm remains. While the home is kitted out for 21st-century living, we love the original features of the former barn – exposed brickwork and thick timber beams remind you of its rustic roots. The livestock certainly must have lived in style, as you’ll find a spacious open-plan living area with understated elegance. Neutral tones create a calming vibe, but another relaxed spot is the private patio where you can sip your morning Earl Grey. Take a wander out into the fields, where you’ll find uninterrupted views across acres of farmland towards Tunstall Forest. The village of Iken is a thirteen-minute stroll from home, or hop in the car for the same amount of time to reach Aldeburgh – grab a portion of fish and chips and make the most of its shingle beach.

Just off your doorstep, you’ll find the coastal path that will take you down to Aldeburgh Beach and into the village, where you’ll find fish and chip shops, independent galleries and vintage shops. Hire a boat and spend the day on the mere before heading back to your comfortable base. This cottage is perfectly suited to a small family or couple seeking extra space, especially if you’re bringing furry friends with you. There’s a south-facing front garden for sipping your morning coffees, or why not end the evening with a glass of local cider?

We can see why this cottage was in The Sunday Times' Coolest 100 Cottages' list – it's a Jacobean dream, full of original character and quirky features. Once home to the miller of Plomesgate Mill, it now houses wonderful antiques, such as a fantastic 1700s Breton bed built straight into the wall, a gorgeous oak four-poster and a working 1800s kitchen range. 

Enjoy a tasty full English breakfast (courtesy of the welcome hamper provided by your lovely hosts Beverley and Martin) in the farmhouse style kitchen. Or when the Suffolk sun is shining, dine in the pretty, wisteria clad courtyard. If you’re lucky enough to be here in August and September, there's a mulberry bush in the grounds that guests are welcome to pick fruit from – perfect for making some jam or muffins.

Something else we adore here is the owner’s beautiful private nature reserve behind this home. Take the dogs for a walk through the meandering footpaths that wind through meadows and ancient woodland. In spring, you’ll see captivating carpets of cheerful daffodils, bluebells and primroses. Whatever time of year you come, though, you’ll be treated to an array of wildlife, from nuthatches to woodpeckers.
 
There are maps to find the footpaths going onwards to Snape Maltings, an arts complex on the banks of the River Alde, just over two miles away. Or head to Aldeburgh (seven minutes in the car) – you can borrow some bikes and cycle there in around thirty minutes too.

Step back in time at this meticulously restored Regency cottage. Your hosts have poured their time and energy into sourcing period-specific reclaimed materials and equipping the home with antique furnishings to create a cosy and charming English escape that offers the very best of coast and country.

All that effort has clearly paid off, as evidenced by the beautiful interior. From the Victorian roll-top bath to the eighteenth-century range and the wainscotting on the walls – every effort has been made to make it feel as authentic as possible. Even the mod cons, such as the TV, are hidden away inside bread ovens that are built into the chimney so as not to shatter the illusion.

At the top of the narrow staircase is the twin bedroom, through which you enter the main bedroom – a pretty common arrangement for houses of this period.

Step outside, and you'll find a beautifully maintained nature reserve right on your doorstep. Your hosts bought it in 2015 and have spent the intervening years slowly restoring and exposing its beauty, with winding footpaths leading to conveniently placed benches, soaring Scots pine trees and ancient oaks – perfect for a reflective moment in nature or a ride on the supplied bikes.

For adventures further afield, you'll find maps detailing footpaths that run to the world-class concert hall at Snape Maltings, two-and-a-half miles away, and continue through forests and past lakes, leading all the way to the sea at Aldeburgh. 

The Miller's Cottage

With farmland to the front and the owner’s beautiful private nature reserve behind – this gorgeous home, part of a cluster of mill buildings, is in an idyllic spot. 

Take a stroll through winding footpaths of the reserve that meander through meadows and forests of giant cedars and ancient oaks. In spring, you’ll see enchanting carpets of bluebells, primroses and daffodils, but whatever time of year you come, you’ll be treated to an array of wildlife, from chaffinches to woodpeckers. There are maps to find the footpaths going onwards to Snape Maltings, just over two miles away, and to the sea at Aldeburgh (or it’s seven minutes in the car). You can borrow some bikes too if you prefer to cycle.

You don’t have to go anywhere to get some fresh air, though. There’s a lovely old cobbled, sunny courtyard where clematis and wisteria clamber up the walls – it’s the perfect spot to enjoy the welcome hamper of breakfast goodies. There’s another patio area, too, with fragrant rambling roses – ideal for a glass of wine.

The home itself is a sympathetic conversion of a stable and grain store. We adore the character features inside, such as the traditional 17th Century Suffolk white brick flooring, wood-panelled walls and old oak floorboards. Part of the original manger has been incorporated into the wall dividing the kitchen and the living space area – a lovely touch. Open the stable doors here and listen to the blackbirds singing at dusk. Furnished with antiques, this cottage will appeal to couples and pet owners looking for a luxurious country bolthole.

This quirky cottage is nestled right by the Suffolk seaside in the pretty town of Aldeburgh. Cosy and homely, it's the perfect base for a family trip to the coast. Wake up each morning and enjoy breakfast in the maritime-themed kitchen, or when the sun is shining, take your tea out into the garden to make the most of the nice weather – there’s even a fire pit for cooler days. On chillier evenings, snuggle up by the wood-burning fire in the lounge with a cup of cocoa for a family game or movie night.

But the best part of all is the location. An invigorating fifteen-minute walk will take you straight to the beach, where you'll find fishermen working in colourful boats and fresh catches of the day being sold from the huts lining the coastline. During the day, there's no doubt you'll be out exploring, but come nightfall, light the fire and curl up in the living room with a great book or enjoy a delicious family dinner around the table. With Sky TV, a DVD player and a collection of board games, you'll have plenty to keep you occupied during a relaxed night at home – and the snacks are sorted, thanks to the welcome hamper filled with local goodies like coffees, ales teas and crisps. But the location is best of all. You're moments from the beach, just off Aldeburgh High Street. Meander over to the sand and shingle coast as you nibble on the town's famous fish and chips. Culture fans will be enthralled by the lively scene in Aldeburgh, with its world-renowned annual music festival, galleries and antique shops to be found at every turn. Meanwhile, outdoorsy types can explore the Suffolk Heaths, dog in tow – Captain's Wood Nature Reserve is just a twenty-minute drive away.

An alternative to the usual beach cottage, this veritable castle by the sea is a perfect getaway for anyone who just can’t cut down a guest list. Seven bedrooms mean there’s room for everyone you want to invite (and the garden and spacious living areas mean that you won’t regret bringing them). The group can spread out between the long, conservatory-like garden with its wall of windows, or hunker down in the sitting room with its beautiful bay window seat.  Head outside to enjoy the sun in the garden where the kids can run free on the vast lawn. Out here, picnic tables provide the alfresco dining option, perfect for a family feast of fish and chips from your local. 

Best of all, this home is right by the beach – step out of the garden room onto the lawn and you’ll taste the salt on the breeze, and a moment's walk will have you on the sands of Aldeburgh’s beaches.

Deep within the Suffolk Heaths Area of Natural Beauty, this barn turned cottage sits on the outskirts of Orford village. This puts the raw beauty of the Heaths in one direction, and the bakeries, shops and pubs of Orford a five-minute walk away in the other. From here you can access the River Alde and the wildlife-filled marshes of Orford Ness nature reserve. There’s something Viking-like about the exterior of the old barn, in darkwood cladding. And indeed, this site has ties with the Vikings and Roman, with records as far back as the 14th century mentioning the barn. Inside you’ll find a modern haven with charming touches. The open-plan kitchen, living and dining room is a cosy yet sociable spot where the country-style kitchen has everything you need for self-catering. Throw open the French doors and let in the country air. Just outside there’s a private patio and walled garden for evening drinks or meals outside. If you want to practice your serve, your hosts can arrange access to the private tennis court at their sister home, a two-minute walk away.

Can’t decide between a romantic city break or a rural seaside retreat? Thanks to this apartment, you don’t have to. It’s been decorated in a chic contemporary loft style, with moody hues, exposed brick walls, pendant lights and a canopied four-poster bed. But when you step outside, you’ll find yourself in Aldeburgh, a pretty seaside town with pubs, independent shops and a world-famous music festival, thanks to its former resident, Benjamin Britten. 

Take a fifteen-minute walk down to the coastline and you'll see fishermen pull their colourful boats up on the beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. Walk down the Georgian high street, filled with foodie delights including Slate Cheese deli, Two Magpies Bakery, and Ives Ice Cream Parlour (for your obligatory ice cream by the sea). Cook up a storm in the evening with the fresh produce, or get a takeaway from the Golden Galleon fish and chip shop. And for nature-lovers and ramblers, the home also lies within Suffolk Coast & Heaths - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Hike through ancient woodland and glorious landscapes for days. 

Four Sea Interludes

Part of a former village hall and theatre, this stunning space is vast, to say the least. It's a sizeable chunk of one of the landmark mock Tudor buildings in Thorpeness, recently converted to a handful of homes. 

The main living area was where village plays and dances were once held, so it's just waiting to be filled with family fun and the sound of laughter. With an open kitchen area, big dining table and cosy sofas, it's built for socialising. Down some stairs, but all with windows and plenty of light, you'll find enough bedrooms to keep even large families happy. But if you're looking for the kids, they're more likely to be hanging out on the mezzanine at the top of the house. Furnished with bean bags, it's a great den for gaming. 

If you can motivate the crew to leave the house together, Thorpeness Beach is just a five-minute walk away, along with the boating lake, the golf course and a range of shops and cafes. Or explore Aldeburgh, once home to composer Benjamin Britten, a five-minute drive away.

This pretty 16th Century cottage is full of character and light. Relax on the large enclosed courtyard with its beautiful blossom tree and flower baskets – it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of rosé wine. At night the tree is lit up with twinkling lights giving the space a magical feel.

If it gets a bit chilly, head inside and sit next to the large inglenook fireplace with its cosy wood-burning stove. We love this room with its historic beams and antiques. If you don’t fancy eating out, rustle up a dinner using some local fresh seafood from the fisherman’s huts at Aldeburgh, a twenty-minute drive away.

Closer to home, the centre of Wickham Market is 50 yards away, where you’ll find a range of shops including a butchers, antique store and beauty salon, as well as an arts centre. There are a couple of restaurants here as well as a fish n’ chips shop, while there are many pubs nearby, including one in the village of Ufford, a one to two-hour walk from the cottage (or a four-minute drive). Your lovely hosts provide bikes for free, too, if you want to explore the area on two wheels.

There's no better place for a country escape, as you're just short walk from the charming village of Snape as well as the Suffolk Heritage Coast. All of the bedrooms feature French doors, so each morning you can breathe in fresh country air before exploring the local area! After a busy day, you and your loved ones might gather in the expansive living and dining area, taking advantage of the pizza stone or steamer to whip up a feast, while in the summer, enjoy the evening sun with a BBQ on the decking. As night draws in, cosy up on the plush corner sofa and play a board game or watch a DVD.

During the colder months of the year, there's nothing better to do than curl up next to the log-burner in the living room, but when the weather is more agreeable, there's so much to do. Just outside, there's a private patio with a barbecue and seating ready for an alfresco feast. Elsewhere on the grounds, there's a tennis court shared only between a couple of cottages, as well as lots of wildlife to spot, from Muscovy ducks and moorhens to deer and pigs. In the local area, guests have the option of birdwatching at Orford Ness, cycling through the Sudbourne Woods Bike Park or swimming in the sea at Aldeburgh Beach.

It’s a scientific fact that plants are good for your health – so staying in a wildlife reserve with ten-acres of landscaped gardens (including a lake) will be just what the doctor ordered. Sip your morning coffee on the waterside patio and say hello to your neighbours – the kingfishers, the herons and even an otter too. The apartment is on the upper floor of a converted barn, and a huge picture window in the living room means you won’t miss the views of the stunning garden inside. There’s plenty to do in the area – Orford Ness National Nature Reserve and the beach at Shingle Street are just a short drive away. And further up the coast you’ll find the picturesque towns of Woodbridge and Aldeburgh, each home to several boutiques, cafes and restaurants (though Aldeburgh does the best fish and chips). This home really is a haven for wildlife or gardening fans, or anyone wanting some peace – just don’t forget to bring your binoculars.

Part of an address that has been mentioned in historical records dating back to the thirteenth century, this recently converted apartment is a lovely spot from which to enjoy one of England's most beautiful coastal regions. This is, however, a part of the country where you'll want to spend as much time outside as possible and there are plenty of opportunities to do so here. As well as a patio with seating and a barbecue, there's also a private tennis court nearby that guests are free to make the most of. It's also possible to hire a bike from the host and Sudbourne Woods Bike Park only take two minutes of pedalling to reach. For those more comfortable on their feet, Orford Ness National Nature Reserve can be reached in eight minutes in the car.

If you fancy exploring, you're just a fifteen-minute drive from Aldeburgh Beach and its namesake golf course, or you can walk to the banks of the River Alde in a matter of minutes. Culture buffs should visit nearby sites like the 7th century St Botolph’s Church and Iken village, the reputed base of Boudica, for an insight into of the area’s fascinating history. Deep within the Suffolk countryside close to England's east coastline lies this pair of conjoined cottages. Each has its own living room, kitchen and private patio, which give visiting parties that little bit of added flexibility. The interior design is similar in both, with a pleasing mix of the old and new — we're talking wooden ceiling beams next to sleek white kitchens and pristine bathrooms. If you're here during the winter months, there's a wood-burner in each house, but if the sunshine makes an appearance, there's a private tennis court on the premises that guests are welcome to use. Further afield, Captain's Wood nature reserve can be reached in half an hour on foot — or three minutes in the car — while Aldeburgh Beach is seventeen minutes' drive away.

This historic garden cottage in Snape is perfect for a solo trip or a couple’s romantic getaway in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The studio sits on the land of the Old Mill, which dates back to 1797. It was the famous Suffolk composer Benjamin Britten who converted the cottage into his studio in 1937 and composed some of his greatest operas. Now a fresh, modernised space, the studio has retained plenty of its charm as well as a private lawn with lovely green views. Well-laid out with a full kitchen, dining area and a cosy sleeping and living space, you’ll have all you need to relax and unwind before and after exploring the local surroundings.

Lovers of the outdoors can take advantage of the many countryside walks and cycle paths as well as boat trips down the river Alde, and it’s just a short drive to the seaside town of Aldeburgh with its wide stretch of sandy beach and plenty of art and antique shops to discover.

Should you ever tire of the sea (doubtful, we know), you’ll find Thorpeness Meare just a short walk away too. A boating lake like no other, it has over forty acres of water. Or simply take a stroll through the streets full of quirky buildings (be sure to search out the story behind all those mock Tudor and Jacobean buildings). If sandy shores are more your thing, Walberswick, under a thirty-minute drive, is the spot to visit. When you feel peckish, there's a pub with a good restaurant just 200 yards away.

With all of this exploring keeping you busy, you'll be glad to return to the comforts of home. Head through the bi-fold doors to the garden for a glass of wine as the sun sets, or cosy up around the log burning stove on chillier days. There's plenty of room on the two large sofas to accommodate the whole gang. We're pretty sure this home is bigger on the inside somehow. With bags of space and a cutting-edge, modern gleam to everything, it's actually a recently renovated 19th-Century cottage. Its charming exterior has been spiced up with new black windows and there's a striking barn-style extension to the rear, where you'll find the bedrooms. 

A vast room with an open layout is the star of the show. So big it takes up almost the whole of the original cottage, it's a mix of contemporary cool and comfy, practical furnishings. We particularly love the three sociable sofas facing each other and the breakfast bar in the well-equipped kitchen. At the bottom of the garden you’ll find a shaded spot with chairs beneath a wooden pergola, surrounded by greenery. 

The village itself is famous for its 1920s mock Tudor houses and 'Meare' - a manmade lake with boats of every colour, perfect for exploring its Peter Pan-inspired islands. The beach is a mix of shingle and sand and you can walk along it to the pretty town of Aldeburgh where you’ll find some of the best fish and chips in the world.

Set in a quiet back street in the bustling market town of Woodbridge, this Regency-style house is a total haven for families. Cosy and inviting, both lounges have books, board games and DVDs to entertain everyone on rainy days – the second lounge also has a Wii. The kitchen is a particular highlight, with a traditional Aga cooker and plenty of space for lazy breakfasts at the long table. A lift makes it easy to transport luggage to the welcoming bedrooms on the first floor, and the pretty private garden is the ideal spot to play a game of croquet, badminton or swingball. Fire up the barbecue on summer evenings for alfresco meals, then challenge someone to a round of table football in the shed. In terms of location, you're just metres away from several wonderful old pubs, independent cafes and local shops, not to mention within walking distance of the River Deben. Woodbridge is home to charming narrow streets lined with pretty houses and cottages as well as a famous Tide Mill. Further afield are some great beaches – from the sand dunes at Walberswick to the pebbled Aldeburgh with its world-famous fish and chip shop – but a visit to this neck of the woods isn't complete without a ramble through the picturesque Heaths, just a short drive away.

This red-brick home is in one of the best locations in Aldeburgh, set on the shingle beach. So you can pop to the seaside, take a dip in the water and nip back for forgotten towels or sunscreen in a jiffy. Aldeburgh town is to the back of the home and it's a short stroll to ice cream parlours, delis, and restaurants. We love exploring the area by whatever means: from hiring a boat to meander the broads to hiking through the numerous nature reserves on the lookout for birdlife. 

Built in 1854, the house has large bay windows on its top floor lounge, with an alcove seat to watch the North Sea waves crashing onto the beach. There are a couple of nice furniture touches – the Chinese dresser and old-fashioned rocking chair, for example. And the pine-clad kitchen has everything you need for self-catering. Bedrooms are spacious and those Georgian windows mean a natural alarm clock of sunlight streaming in. 

Shingle Beach Home

This Grade II listed home – located in Tunstall, a small village between Woodbridge and Aldeburgh – was formerly a gatehouse to Rendlesham Hall. Dating back to the nineteenth century, the home is built using flint and stone, which allegedly comes from Butley Abbey. Steeped in history, the building maintains many of its original features including the grand castle-like tower adorned with lead-line and sash cord windows, and its unique hexagonal shape. 

Boasting large enclosed gardens featuring lawns and a patio area complete with a dining space, we would love to begin our mornings with an alfresco breakfast here. For quiet leisurely days, the home also has a sunroom, which is the ideal spot to escape and enjoy a good book in the comfort of the egg chair. While your furry four-legged friends can be easily entertained as they bound around the garden.

For days out, on the outskirts of this village, you will find Tunstall Forest, which has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Plus, there are many footpaths in the nearby Rendlesham Forest to explore. 

In the evening, fire up the barbecue and dine alfresco to take full advantage of the home’s garden. Then, retire inside and curl up in front of the roaring wood burner on chilly nights.
