As far as locales go, we think it's hard to beat.

When you're not exploring all Warwick has to offer, make yourself right at home. There's a warm, welcoming feel as soon you step through the front door, thanks to stylish decorations and a plush sofa perfect for sprawling. The TV has Netflix if you fancy a movie night, or if you're in the mood to cook, you'll find everything you need in the kitchen to rustle up a delicious meal – best served, of course, at the dining table, with a bottle of wine and the French doors flung open. With its own front door, it's on the ground floor and boasts high ceilings and tall sash windows. But the most striking thing about this luxurious home has to be the curated art (much of it picked up during the host's travels in Asia and North Africa), collections of books and the vast array of house plants. There's a contemporary kitchen and a designer dining table to eat, drink and be merry together, as well as two comfy bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Just a few minutes walk from the High Street, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to bars, restaurants and pubs nearby, and by day you can explore the town's pretty Regency streets, award-winning parks and independent shopping scene.

It was game, set and match when we saw this elegant 16th Century grange situated on a quiet lane in the heart of Shakespeare country. Play a spot of tennis on the private courts surrounded by beautiful countryside, have a wander around the formal gardens or picnic on the sweeping lawns. Later, read a book in the hanging tree pod or spot the wildlife around the natural swimming lake. There are lovely sunny patios for alfresco dining, too.

If you want a quiet spot, read the newspapers in the garden room with its botanical print wallpaper, purple sofas and chaise longue. South and west-facing windows create a bright and cheerful space. One of our favourite rooms has to be the orangery with its four sets of double doors, glass lantern roof, swan neck chandelier and long refectory style table primed for convivial, lazy brunches.

There's so much house here – we haven't even mentioned the elegant bedrooms – there are canopied beds, four posters, antiques and designer wallpaper aplenty.

This home is surrounded by some wonderful walks. Ancient Hay Wood is under 7 miles away or culture lovers can head to Stratford-upon-Avon for a performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Food lovers, on the other hand, are catered for in Henley-on-Arden, where there are some charming restaurants to discover. Or just relax in the local pub –  there are two friendly ones within a thirty-minute stroll.

You’ll find this well-placed apartment just a few minutes’ walk from the heart of Leamington Spa with all of its chic boutiques, restaurants and bars. Other attractions nearby include Warwick Castle and Stratford-Upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare (Leamington Spa railway station is 2 miles away). If you’re arriving by car, there’s private parking for one car here, but we’d say don’t pack heavy bags, as there’s no lift and the apartment is on the second and third floors. This modern and spotless home with both bedrooms en-suite, is up in the eaves too, so there may be some limited head height if you’re on the taller side.

This medieval house is one of the oldest in Stratford-upon-Avon, but the way the host has decorated it marries the new interiors perfectly with the original structure. The slanted walls, wooden panels, and beautiful tiles wouldn’t seem out of place in a Lewis Carroll novel, which for a house with as much history as this, feels pretty apt. It doesn't surprise us that the unique home was chosen as a filming spot for the BBC One show Shakespeare & Hathaway.

We can't decide on a favourite feature – torn between the beam-ceilinged bedrooms, the boutique-style bathrooms, the wall painting from the 1600s, and the location in the very middle of this historic town. The high street, with its Shakespeare museums and old-timely pubs, is just a five-minute walk away. There’s still plenty else for you to discover yourself, as in a house like this there's no shortage of nooks and crannies.

This beautifully renovated barn is situated in a stunning, secluded position on the edge of Long Itchington village in Warwickshire. Guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding farmland from all aspects of the property. The village's pond and green are within walking distance, where visitors can find a pub for local beer and good food. The barn sleeps eight guests (maximum six adults) and features four bedrooms, including one en-suite bathroom, two en-suite shower rooms, and one family shower room. A walled, gravelled courtyard with a slate patio and lawned areas offers a relaxing outdoor space for guests to unwind. Families with children are welcome, with a travel cot, high chair, and stairgate available upon request. Parking for up to four vehicles is available, and there is WiFi throughout the property. A minimum three-night stay is required.

A Day in the Country

This little home sets the scene for a romantic getaway in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. Whether travelling solo or with a special someone, you’ll find everything you could need for an easy stay. Located just three minutes from Shakespeare’s birthplace with quick access to the centre, days can be spent sightseeing your way across this historic market town. There are two floors here so it may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility and parking can be a little tricky but when it comes to everyday comfort, we think this home hits the spot.

Poet's Nook

Though small, this stylish two-bedroom apartment is well-equipped. Featuring a multi-purpose kitchen, dining and living room it would suit fans of fuss-free, open-plan living. Location-wise, you’ll find yourselves within walking distance of Leamington Spa’s historic heart. Famed for its regency architecture and pump rooms, the town’s now a treasure trove of independent boutiques and eateries. Warwick Castle (6km away) and Stratford-Upon-Avon – Shakespeare’s birthplace – (15km away) are also easily accessible day trip destinations.

While this building was once a barn, it has since been converted into a thoroughly modern home with a long list of luxurious additions to make your stay truly unforgettable.

Aside from the wooden ceiling beams, you would hardly be able to work out this home's former life if you didn't already know. The colour palette leans heavily upon sleek muted greys, all illuminated by subtle spotlighting, while the kitchen has bountiful amounts of surface space for whipping up country feasts.

Out through the back door, there's a private garden with seating so you can enjoy bursts of sunshine, as well as a hot tub that's ideal whatever the weather. At the end of this space is a garage that has also been converted and packed full of gym equipment.

The home sits on the Fosse Way — a 230-mile Roman Road — and there are plenty of walking routes that go through the Warwickshire countryside which start nearby. The Regency architecture of Royal Leamington Spa takes just over five minutes to reach in the car, while the Bard's birthplace, Stratford-Upon-Avon, is a twenty-five-minute drive.

Perfect for afternoon barbecues and alfresco evening cocktails, the garden's south-facing outlook means you'll always have the light. Inside, the glossy kitchen is sure to excite home chefs. Enjoy a romantic stay at this handsome barn conversion, lying at the end of a track, on a family-run arable farm, surrounded by fields – this is a sublime retreat. Relax with a glass of bubbly in the private hot tub with its idyllic views through the farm to the fields beyond (your lovely hosts provide bathrobes and slippers), then savour a barbecue lunch in the sun. It's also the perfect spot to do a bit of stargazing when the night skies are clear and full of sparkling diamonds. Beautiful bi-fold doors provide plenty of light inside this single-level barn, which was once a grain store. We love the gorgeous stone floor and exposed wooden roof beams framing the high ceiling. A fresh colour scheme of pale cream, yellows and greys complement the rustic yet stylish design. If you can tear yourself away from this love nest, there's plenty to explore. Go for a walk to the historic riverside village of Bidford-on-Avon, sixteen minutes on foot, where you'll find an array of charming pubs, restaurants, shops, and a picturesque church built in 1250. Or visit Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, around a twenty-five-minute drive, while stunning Warwick Castle is a few minutes more in the car. The magnificent Cotswolds are on your doorstep too – Hidcote Manor Garden, near Chipping Campden, just over a fifteen-minute ride, which has one of Britain's most influential Arts and Crafts gardens.

This home is just as charming as the idyllic town in which it sits. The interior eschews minimalism for full-on floral patterns, characterful pieces of botanical artwork and vintage-inspired furnishings — can you honestly say you weren't happy to see that four-poster bed?

While the kitchen may be on the smaller side and lacks a hob, oven or cooking facilities, fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants in Woodstock, from a brasserie to less formal pubs. In addition, Blenheim Palace and its surrounding parkland can be entered in three mintues' walk from your front door. Further afield, the walking routes and viewpoints of the Cotswolds AONB can be reached easily in the car.

Masterpiece

Thought to date back in part to the Tudor period and in part to the Victorian era, this old mill – located in a picturesque hamlet – was converted during the 1980s and takes care to retain much of the home’s period features including the mill shaft, which is a striking centrepiece to the living space. Multiple levels, some at split levels in this home reference the mechanical workings of the mill and intersect original mill components creating a wonderfully unique space.
