Though small, this bright garden annexe in Bosham is perfect for solo nomads and couples looking for a romantic coastal break. With a double sofa bed facing the wall-to-wall bi-fold doors, you can wake up to a green view of the shared garden. The kitchen, although not the biggest, has a coffee maker and everything you need for light bites to enjoy alfresco on the terrace. A short drive from Aldwick Beach, Portsmouth and Waterlooville Golf Club, there's a little something for everyone here.

The Dashing Prince

Feel like staying 150 metres from Bosham's sandy waterfront? This coastal cottage puts pubs and an arts centre within easy walking distance. Ideal for families, baby travel equipment is available to lighten your luggage. The third bedroom has a bunk bed and a pull-out bed for guest seven. We love how the garden is a perfect run for dogs, and a fire pit awaits your evening hangouts. Prefer to cosy up indoors? Light the log burner and settle in the sunny window seat.

Beacon on the Sea

Cosy and charming, this garden annexe makes a lovely little home for a couple or solo traveller who wants to explore the stunning AONB of Chichester Harbour. It sits in a peaceful close, just a short stroll from Fishbourne station, ideal if you want to travel along the south coast and discover the beauty of the South Downs National Park.

While you won't find flashy extras or excessive frills at this home, you'll find a comfortable and welcoming place to relax in between days exploring nature. And although you'll share the garden with the host here, your privacy will always be prioritised, so you can enjoy the leafy and lush outdoor areas in absolute peace.

Flight of the Bumblebee

A gorgeous period cottage on the banks of the millstream, this home puts you in the heart of the picturesque English coastal village of Bosham. It’s incredibly quiet here, with barely any sound other than the burbling of the stream and the quacking of ducks. And as it’s a smartly converted community hall dating back to the 19th century, it combines the charms of yesterday with the comforts of today. At night, enjoy the home cinema set up complete with a popcorn machine, Shiatsu massage cushions and treats from the welcome hamper. In the mornings, sit on your patio directly on the stream and enjoy morning cappucinos. Then walk to the end of the lane and you’re at the water’s edge where you’ll find gorgeous views of the estuary – make sure you come back for sunset over the waterfront quay. For biking, walking and nature enthusiasts, the South Downs National Park is a fifteen-minute drive away and the Wittering Beaches are under a half-hour’s drive. Plus, if you’re looking for a little more action, the market town of Chichester is only 10-minutes by car from your tranquil home on the stream.

Millstone

Make yourself at home in this contemporary bungalow just 100 metres from the sea. It's perfect for a family – not only will kids have their own room filled with books and toys, but the playhouse in the garden is sure to be a favourite. While they're playing pretend, parents can kick back and relax at the picnic table, enjoying a refreshing drink and free-flowing conversation as the stars pop out overhead. 

During the summer, fling open the patio doors and effortlessly transition between the sunny garden and the sleek living area. Inspired by the coastal setting, the design features deep blues, crisp whites and lots of natural elements – we're particularly fond of the three-piece octopus print hanging near the sofa. When the weather is chilly, the log-burner will keep things nice and toasty as you wind down with a glass of wine and a Netflix movie.

When you're ready to venture out, it's about ten minutes on foot to Bosham village, where you'll find a waterfront pub, cafe and a few shops. The walks along the harbour are excellent, but most of the action lies in Chichester's historic city centre, a seventeen-minute drive away. For a day at the beach, West Wittering's Blue Flag Beach is a must-visit – it's about half an hour away by car.

Aquamarine Octopus

You’ll find this home in the quayside village of Bosham, just a short stroll from the waterfront. Perfect for families, there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out to enjoy their own space or socialise together here – and for those who need to catch up on work, there’s even a dedicated office area. Taller guests need to be mindful of the sloping ceilings on the first floor, but that aside, after a day spent enjoying the fresh coastal air, you’ll sleep easy here. 

The Honeybee's Cottage

This is the kind of place we'd recommend for a longer stay, just because we feel that a one-week booking will barely let you scrape the surface of all it has to offer. The insides are designed for a large family to play, relax, and adventure together, especially as the house is well-equipped with cooking supplies, DVDs, and games. But of course, the real highlight of this house is its beautiful natural surroundings – the mudflats outside offer a unique opportunity for wildlife fanatics and birdwatchers to get their wellies on and reconnect with nature. We love how the whole house is designed with the awareness of the natural beauty just outside, and every room has a stunning view that keeps inviting you to go outdoors. The living space benefits from large picture windows, an intricate fireplace and nautical furnishings that make it as homely as it is bright. Speaking of, the luminous conservatory is a light and airy space to enjoy group meals together while keeping one eye out for the lesser spotted red-breasted merganser. Better still, start your day in the calm fresh air – there's a lovely patio and garden area to enjoy your morning coffee from, complete with an outdoor dining table and chairs. When you're ready to explore the nearby towns, we recommend that you start with Chichester's Cathedrals, then take a twenty-minute drive to West Wittering beach for a day trip. If there are Peppa Pig fans in your party, then a visit to Peppa Pig World at Paulton's Park is also a must. While others may enjoy mooching around the picturesque village of Bosham next door – a six-minute drive. There's so much to see and do here, although we wouldn't blame you for spending most of your time languorously birdwatching, playing games and enjoying the scenic waterfront surroundings at home.

Flow Theory

Along the lavender pathway, you'll find this characterful cottage in the historic Sussex harbour village of Bosham. Just a stone's throw from Bosham Quayside and the village pubs, cafes, coffee shops and restaurants – not only is the house packed with plenty of appeals, but the location is also on point. From the elegant interiors to the serene garden and dining room setting, it's an aesthetically pleasing spot and an idyllic home to retreat to after days spent soaking up West Sussex and Chichester. 



Love of Lavender 

There are no two ways about it: this home is a waterside wonder. With a subtle coastal theme to the decor, and a long garden leading right to the Bosham Channel, it's a historic cottage set over three floors, elegantly extended and modernised. There's no shortage of space, with plenty of room for up to eight guests and a choice of three sitting areas (we particularly love the first-floor living room with its cosy log burner and great views), and if you're lucky with the weather there's a lovely garden, dining terrace and a picnic table at the bottom of the garden – perfect for sundowners by the water.

After a day exploring this beautiful stretch of coast, or going inland to visit nearby Chichester, you can cook and eat together in your sprawling, stylish kitchen – perhaps with the wall of bi-folding doors open to let in the sea breeze. And snuggle up for evenings playing games or watching films in the comfy TV room. We hear there's even table tennis equipment in the shed, along with several bikes. With a perfect layout for families – or maybe two families sharing – it's a great choice for a break on the South Coast. And little ones will love the porthole window in the nautical-themed attic bedroom.

Blue Door on the Shore
