You’ll be struck by how charming the interior is as you pass through its doors. With its open-plan living space offering both ample room and plenty of style.

When you want to freshen up after a hike, you’ll be torn between the free-standing copper bath and the rainfall shower. In warm weather, you’ll enjoy meals out in the alfresco dining area. When it’s a bit nippy, you’ll relax sitting around the fireplace.

Offering direct access to the charming wooded areas of Hesworth Common (perfect for picnics or a trip to a country pub) and within walking distance from farm shops and an award-winning shop selling local produce, this home is in a fantastic location for getting a feel for the local area. We recommend trying the local wine – the area is becoming renowned for its vineyards and wineries.

With a range of on-site activities, including golf, foraging, and afternoon tea in the walled garden, the estate is a destination in itself. And if you want to explore the surrounding area, the nearby South Downs are ideal for hiking or mountain biking.

The Great Bloom

Step inside this cottage and you’ll find a cosy and welcoming space well-suited to families and small groups. The open-plan sitting room is ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring, and you’ll find all the basic essentials needed to get you started. It is possible for the ground floor bedroom to be arranged with twin beds or a super-king-size bed, plus there is an extra living room on the first floor. Three is also a sweet little garden and private parking is included in your stay. From here, it’s just a short walk into the heart of Funtington, while Chichester and Goodwood are just a short drive away. 

Garden Nest

This pet-friendly barn conversion in West Sussex is perfect for a couple or solo traveller seeking a peaceful rural retreat. A rock garden and tended lawn provide ample opportunity for sundowners and alfresco meals, while inside, cosy country-style decor and beamed ceilings provide plenty of English charm. You’ll need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the mezzanine bedroom but waking up to apex views of the surrounding nature is a fair reward. The bus stop at the end of the road offers regular services to Chichester, while the village of Funtington – right on the home’s doorstep – has a selection of restaurants and pubs to enjoy.

The lovely village of Cranleigh is within walking distance and has all the amenities you could need.

The Song Bird

Located in the picturesque village of Hascombe, surrounded by hills and woodlands, you’re perfectly placed for hiking and birdwatching here. And while you’ll benefit from the rural location, when you want to stock up on supplies, the town of Godalming is just a ten-minute drive away. After a day exploring the surrounding villages, you’ll find plenty of sofa space in the two living rooms for relaxing.  The Surrey Hideaway

You’ll need a car to get the most out of your stay, but it’s just a short drive to the South Downs National Park and Chichester Harbour. The grounds are shared with a neighbouring home, but you will have a private terrace – perfect for sipping sundowners, and there are lovely garden views from the living room. The ground floor bedroom makes this home easily accessible for guests with reduced mobility.

Set in the picturesque village of Lavant, it’s just a short drive from Chichester, West Wittering, and the South Downs, making it a brilliant base for exploring. Step inside and you’ll find a cosy sitting room with French doors that open onto the patio – the perfect spot for sunny afternoons. Out here, you’ll love the leafy garden and the private summerhouse, which is a lovely space to relax and soak up the views. For a rural retreat that still keeps you close to the action, it’s hard to beat.

Lovely Lavant

Gather your troops and go off-grid at this characterful farmhouse fringing the peaceful village of Kirdford in West Sussex. 

While this Grade II listed Elizabethan home may have begun its life as a working farmhouse, there's no need to muck in these days. In fact, you won't need to lift a finger – your host can organise a daily maid service and a private chef to take the reins in the made-for-action kitchen.

Summer mornings call for lazy brunches in the orangery before padding outside to discover the home's one hundred acres of lakes, gardens, and woodland rivers. It's all going on here with a children's play area, croquet lawns, and tennis court at the ready. 

In winter months, the traditionally English interiors of the vast sitting room and dining area create a delightful homey feel, and the mighty double aspect fireplace will keep everyone toasty. 

A home perfectly suited for large group getaways – four of your guests can spill out into the old diary next door, reimagined into a smart guest annex for that extra privacy. And over in the main house, the bedrooms can only be described as suites, with each boasting a sitting room and en-suite bathroom.

When it's time for a change of scene, take a stroll into Kirdford (twenty minutes) to pick up a paper from the village shop and grab a swift pint at the local gastropub. Or jump in the car to the charming market town of Petworth (a ten-minute drive away) for a mosey about the shops and cafes. 

King of the Woods

Our favourite feature, though, is the private patio – it's just the spot for an alfresco meal or a morning cup of coffee. When you're ready to explore, you'll find plenty to do nearby. The cathedral is a twenty-minute walk away, as are a plethora of shops, cafes, and restaurants. In the mood for a slower pace? Explore the nearby South Downs National Park, or make the fifteen-minute drive to the coast for excellent beaches.


Chichester Style

Far from the madding crowd, this exquisite Georgian home is set deep within the South Downs National Park. The curious will be rewarded with a few welcome surprises on arrival. Outside in the established gardens, you'll find a vast pool area, complete with elegant terraces for dining and lounging, and your very own charming shepherd's hut. The kids will love to cosy up in here after splashing around in the pool before getting acquainted with the resident highland cattle, Edith and Morag, in the nearby field. Inside, the home's handsome proportions have been masterfully reworked for seamless, modern living, with a refined mix of antique and contemporary. Stretched out across three floors, there's plenty of space to all come together here. Relish long, lazy mealtimes in the light-filled orangery dining room, flowing through to the family room and kitchen. When the great outdoors finally calls, you'll find a world of unspoiled natural beauty awaits in the South Downs, with rambling walks right on your doorstep. Despite its secluded location, you're just five miles from the perfectly preserved market town of Petworth – lined with charming cafes, classic pubs and plenty of antique shops. In fact, it's been crowned 'Best Antiques Town' and draws interior designers and serious collectors from all over the country, so you better start clearing some space.

A Georgian Retreat

For the group that likes to spread out on the country getaways, this converted stable near the South Downs is the perfect choice. There’s two of everything: lounges with wood-burning stoves, country-style kitchens and even two separate backyards each with its own hot tub. The full outdoor kitchen under the pergola can accommodate the most elaborate of barbecues in the summer months and when the weather gets cooler you can get a fire going in the outdoor brick fireplace and huddle on the sofa. Inside, striking equestrian-themed artworks are a nod to the building’s former life as a stable and two dining tables (one in each cottage) with long benches are pure rustic country vibes. As the sun sets, it’s a choice between the circular or square hot tub, both bubbling away beneath stringed lights. Here, you’re on the edge of the South Downs National Park, and bedroom windows overlook the estate’s hay meadow for a bit of tranquillity. Yet, the shops, pubs and coffee shops of Bosham village are a fifteen-minute stroll away where you’ll find wildlife-filled walks in the Chichester Harbour Area of Natural Beauty.
