When the sun shines, pad across the cool, polished concrete floor and slide the patio doors right back to let the sunshine in. Kick back with a morning coffee from the espresso machine on the terrace while children play in the vast lawned garden. Or join them for an impromptu game of football – there's goals ready and waiting for action. On cooler days, come together around the vast dining table and break out the home's board games – the underfloor heating will keep toes toasty. Challenge your troops to a round of table football. Or sneak away upstairs for an early evening bath in the master suite – a glass of something chilled optional. When the sea finally calls, the soft sandy shores and dunes are just five minutes away for castle making, kite flying, and, if you're lucky with the swell, surfing. Should tummies start to rumble, there's a cafe at the beach, and the village's gastropub and coffee shop are just three minutes from your door. Or take a stroll along the coast to East Wittering (or a four-minute drive) for obligatory fish and chips on the beach.

Well, there's no mystery why this home has made our collection. The apartment is right on the beach in East Wittering, so as you can see, it has great views of the sea from the private sunny balcony as well as most rooms. Yes, the galley kitchen is a bit compact if there are more than two people in there, but it's modern and well-equipped. If you tire of East Wittering Beach (unlikely we know), West Wittering Beach, with its views of Chichester, is less than a ten-minute drive. Otherwise, Chichester Marina is just over ten minutes away in the car, and Goodwood House is around a thirty-minute ride.

Light & Sea

You might not expect to find a glittering outdoor swimming pool and tennis court in the UK, but this luxurious home aims to impress. Let yourself be wrapped up in splendour, nestled between manicured hedges and towering trees. You’re in your own little world here, although you’re just a five-minute drive from West Wittering’s blue flag beach. 

Let’s start with the shining jewel of the home – the garden. It’s the epitome of a charming British getaway, from the pretty foliage to the scent of sea mist hanging in the air. There’s nothing better than soaking up the south coast sun by the pool, getting lost in a good book, and occasionally taking a dip. And perhaps the best surprise of all is it’s just a seven-minute walk away from West Wittering’s blue flag beach. We love the open design that provides everyone with lots of space to stretch out and relax, with an extendable dining table for fish and chip feasts at lunchtime, as well as a dreamy lounge with large bi-fold doors out into the garden.

As soon as you step foot outside, you’ll be impressed by the pristine lawn that’s great for letting the kids run wild when it gets warm, and the rattan sun loungers that let you relax in the sunshine in the summer months. The hot tub is very inviting for spending serene evenings watching the stars come out while you relax in absolute bliss. 

Sand Dune Symphony

Located just steps from the beautiful East Wittering beach, this contemporary home is the ultimate seaside staycation. Boasting a private balcony with sea views, start the day with a cup of coffee while you breathe in the fresh sea air. When you're ready to head out and explore, you'll find golden shores mere minutes away, where you can stroll, sunbathe and surf the waves. If you fancy beach hopping, West Wittering is only a 10-minute drive away and has Blue Flag status.

After trying your hand at windsurfing on Bracklesham Bay, take the five-minute drive to East Wittering for fish and chip shops, cafes and restaurants. Should you be in the mood for a little more hustle and bustle, the city of Chichester is an eighteen-minute car ride away. 

Coastal Call

Relax and unwind at this ecologically-minded stylish surfside retreat, just a five-minute walk from the Blue Flag-awarded sands of West Wittering Beach. 

On the ground floor, you'll find a minimalist open layout that's tailor-made for sociable stays, with plenty of space for everyone to sink into one of the comfortable sofas, play board games around the dining table and prepare family meals in the kitchen. Make the most of sunny days and step through the sliding doors and out into the garden, with its wooden deck and stepping stones winding between raised flower beds.

Its four bedrooms are split between the ground and first floors. The upstairs bedrooms are decked out in trendy OSB, which does away with the need for plastering and painting and adds a warm glow that only natural materials can bring.

The nearby beach is the undoubted star of your stay. However, there's plenty more to discover within a short drive. East Wittering is well-catered for when it comes to cafes, pubs and stocking up on essentials. Thrill seekers might like to book themselves a kitesurfing lesson, with kayaking and paddleboarding offering slightly more sedate options.

A little under 10 miles away, the pedestrianised centre of the cathedral city of Chichester is a pleasant place to while away an afternoon. Alternatively, listen to the roar of the engines at Goodwood's iconic motor racing circuit or the shouts of the crowds urging on their picks at Goodwood Racecourse.
