This address might look effortlessly stylish on the surface, but look a little closer and you'll find that all the home comforts are present and correct. In the living room, for instance, there's a log-burner that you can get crackling while you loll about on the plush sofas facing the warmth. Up in the master bedroom — itself painted in a sultry tone of navy blue — there's an eye-catching copper bathtub that will have you scheduling a long uninterrupted soak into your itinerary. The rest of the house is dotted with house plants — especially in the light and airy kitchen-dining room — but if you want a bit more horticulture, head out into the private patio space, which is lined with flourishing beds and potted foliage. There's plenty of seating out here for taking full advantage of bursts of unseasonable weather, as well as a barbecue in case you're truly lucky. Even better is the fact that Chichester's main landmarks are within such easy walking distance. The Cathedral takes five minutes to reach, as does the town's castle.

Courtyard Breakfast

A timber cabin surrounded by meadows and woodland might sound like a back-to-basics retreat, but at this home in rural Sussex, guests will have a wealth of luxuries at their disposal.

This is before you've even entered the home, as well. Out on the decked terrace, there's a hot tub from which you can enjoy the tranquillity of the local area, as well as a sofa and swing seat. When the sun goes down, there are festoon lights to turn on, plus a charcoal barbecue and fire pit to keep you fed and warm.

If the temperature dips a little too low, there's a wood-burning fireplace inside the home, as well as plenty of cosy blankets and board games. Inside, the design is rustic in places, as with the weathered wood dining table, but the sleek black kitchen and stylish bedrooms are nothing but modern.

When it comes to filling up your itinerary, there's so much to see and do nearby. The sprawling South Downs National Park starts a minute's drive to the north, while the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty sits a similar amount of time in the opposite direction. The town of Bognor Regis and its beach can be reached in twenty-five minutes.




Teddy Bear's Picnic

Located just steps from the beautiful East Wittering beach, this contemporary home is the ultimate seaside staycation. When you're ready to head out and explore, you'll find golden shores mere minutes away, where you can stroll, sunbathe and surf the waves. If you fancy beach hopping, West Wittering is only a 10-minute drive away and has Blue Flag status.

After a day on the sand, travel home to jump in the shower and enjoy a family dinner in the garden. The lush green lawn offers plenty of space to stretch out and is perfect for little ones wanting to blow off some steam while the adults prepare food on the barbecue. When dinner's ready, gather everyone around the dining table on the patio and tuck in.


Sussex Surf

A stone’s throw away from East Wittering Beach, this beautiful home will capture beach lovers’ hearts, but with the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty minutes away, naturalists will fall in love too. Explore your surroundings on days out, stopping off in town for lunch. 

Golf enthusiasts can find Chichester Golf Course on the other end of a short drive. Practice your handicap on a stunning course whilst the rest of the family take themselves a little less seriously at Jungle Paradise Adventure Gold right next door.

Spend days at home in a leisurely fashion – we recommend a lot of lounging. Do a crossword puzzle in your own time as you nurse a cup of coffee at the breakfast counter. Dine alfresco out back and spend your days here with drinks and nibbles as the kids tire themselves out on the lawn. Stargaze at night before treating yourself to a luxurious bubble bath and retiring to one of the ultra-comfortable bedrooms.

The Cherry

Newly renovated, light-filled and united by a sophisticated, neutral palette, you'll feel right at home here. Sunny days call for lazy alfresco brunches on the terrace while little ones and their four-legged friends burn off some energy on the vast manicured lawns. Then pack up your beach bags and head to the seafront for kite flying and paddling – or up the ante with kayaking and paddleboard hire in West Wittering. And when tummies start to rumble, you can easily pop back home to rustle up a picnic or swing by the local beachfront café.

Meanwhile, wintery days are all about bracing beach walks for a dose of sea air before hunkering down back home. Break out the home's board games around the dining table. Challenge your crew to a pool and air hockey game in the garden room or games console session. Then drop and flop for a cosy film night – there's stacks to keep you busy here. And if you need to slope away to catch up on work, the top-floor bedroom has a dedicated desk space – just try not to get too distracted by those sweeping sea views.

Beach Bunnies

Situated less than a hundred metres from the seafront, this modern home feels like a beach hut's sophisticated older sibling.

The walls are an instantly soothing shade of white, which are livened up by artwork in varying shades of blue and the odd house plant or two. This sense of brightness is also helped by the conservatory dining room, which acts as a suntrap on summer afternoons. You also have the option of heading out into the garden and enjoying balmy weather from the seating on the corner terrace — perhaps with dinner cooking away on the barbecue.

In addition to the aforementioned stretch of East Wittering Beach only four minutes' walk from the home, there are opportunities for rambles and birdwatching in the nearby Chichester Harbour AONB only six minutes' drive away. The cathedral city that lends this area its name lies only twenty-five minutes away in the car, too.



Blue Skies Are Coming

Make yourself at home in this contemporary bungalow just 100 metres from the sea. It's perfect for a family – not only will kids have their own room filled with books and toys, but the playhouse in the garden is sure to be a favourite. While they're playing pretend, parents can kick back and relax at the picnic table, enjoying a refreshing drink and free-flowing conversation as the stars pop out overhead. 

During the summer, fling open the patio doors and effortlessly transition between the sunny garden and the sleek living area. Inspired by the coastal setting, the design features deep blues, crisp whites and lots of natural elements – we're particularly fond of the three-piece octopus print hanging near the sofa. When the weather is chilly, the log-burner will keep things nice and toasty as you wind down with a glass of wine and a Netflix movie.

When you're ready to venture out, it's about ten minutes on foot to Bosham village, where you'll find a waterfront pub, cafe and a few shops. The walks along the harbour are excellent, but most of the action lies in Chichester's historic city centre, a seventeen-minute drive away. For a day at the beach, West Wittering's Blue Flag Beach is a must-visit – it's about half an hour away by car.

Aquamarine Octopus

Once a stable, this place has been converted into a luxury home fit for the finest filly. It’s not often that a home in England has a backyard to rival a Tuscan retreat or Californian hideaway, but the hot tub here sets the lavish tone, and the full outdoor kitchen keeps it going. Under a wooden pergola, you’ll find an outdoor lounge under the stars where a brick fireplace keeps things warm when the sun goes down. Inside, tufted leather sofas invite you to sit back as a family amidst the striking equine artworks as a fire crackles in the wood-burning stove. We particularly love the barn-style sliding doors that offer a reminder of the building’s former life as a stable. The indoor kitchen is a delight to cook in, designed country-style with a big range cooker, yet modern feeling in slate grey. If you want to get out and explore the area you’ll find a pleasing mix of rural walking routes in the surrounding hills, and the quaint coffee shops, local pubs and shops of Bosham village a fifteen-minute walk away. The centre of Chichester is just a ten-minute drive away too.
