This delightful holiday home can be found on an equine stud farm in the quaint village of Birdwood. Perfect for a rural escape, it’s close to the Cotswolds and the beautiful countryside of Gloucestershire. You’ll also be just a short drive from Gloucester, where you can shop, dine out, and visit the stunning cathedral. The stylish home features an attractive open-plan living and dining space, with a well-equipped, modern kitchen. There are two gardens, one with a front patio for dining in warmer months. Best of all, there’s a hot tub, ideal after a hike. 

Birdwood Hideaway

Take the most quintessential English cottage you ever did see, set amidst the rolling Cotswold countryside. Add to your doorstep five acres of sprawling shared gardens (think topiaries and a Moorish-inspired pavilion) complete with a shared indoor heated pool, Turkish hammam, and a hard tennis court. All tied up in the neat little bow that is Kingham, one of the Cotswold’s prettiest villages just moments away. And you’ve got yourself the perfect countryside retreat. Inside this eighteenth-century cottage, you’ll find a crackling fire for cosying up on colder nights. A light-filled living space with French doors opening out onto a south-facing private garden for summer evening barbecues. A suntrap conservatory overlooking the garden, that’s the perfect spot for your breakfast. And elegant, spacious bedrooms upstairs (a four-poster bed to boot) with picture-perfect window views. When you do decide to venture further afield from this quiet countryside idyll, you’re just a five-minute walk to the village centre with its award-winning gastropubs for an evening meal. Or head to Daylesford Spa and Farm Shop, just a five-minute drive away or twenty minutes on foot, where you’ll find the best organic food around and plenty of dining options. Ode to Alhambra

Escape the city in style at this palatial farmhouse, nestled within the Malvern Hills and yet just a ten-minute drive from historic Worcester. 

This 300-year-old abode makes quite the first impression as you roll into its impressive private driveway. And things only get better inside. Spread out over three storeys, with bedrooms generously spaced apart across two floors - there's heaps of space to spill out here. 

Mornings call for freshly brewed coffees on the vast sunny veranda while kids and furry friends run amuck on the lawns - there's an acre of land to explore. Then sit back in the hot tub and soak up the countryside vistas for a while (the sightseeing can wait), as horses and sheep trot on by.

In the evening, come together in the sociable living areas beside wood-burning stoves to break out the board games, while others cook up a feast on the Aga cooker. Or slope away to a cosy nook in the separate sitting room with a good book for some quiet time.  

When it's time to explore the great outdoors, a gate leads you directly onto the rolling green hills, perfect for country walks or bike rides. Or nip across to one of the Cotswolds picture-perfect villages for a spot of afternoon tea (thirty-minute drive). 


Back to the Farm

Escape to this idyllic Herefordshire retreat, perched on top of a hill beside an iron-age fort and offering breathtaking countryside vistas. Perfect for a multi-generational family stay (with two dogs in tow), alongside the main barn, there's a smaller stone barn (connected on the first floor) offering a snug, two further bedrooms and a well-equipped playroom. If you can lure yourselves from the enclosed private garden, you're just a five-minute drive from the historic market town of Bromyard with delicatessens, butchers and pubs for a taste of county life. 

The Vintage Farmhouse

This stylish, inviting barn conversion offers country living and a five-star Visit England rating, plus a Gold award. Forage in the herb garden and strawberry patch or sample local produce from the welcome hamper laid out for your arrival. The chic country kitchen is very much the heart of this home, with traditional stone floors and a large dining table that extends towards the cosy lounge. Elegantly framed by vaulted ceilings and traditional oak beams, it’s a wonderfully sociable space to gather. The warm welcome continues out on the patio, where you can enjoy alfresco drinks in the private, enclosed garden and make the most of good weather in the thatched dining hut. Hiring a hot tub is also an enticing option. Children can explore the outdoor play area, while kids and adults alike will enjoy the array of board games and DVDs. To top it off, every convenience has been thought of – catering can be arranged either for your whole stay or as a one-off, and your host can also receive and unpack your supermarket shop before you arrive.

Groves Barn

Tucked down a quiet lane in the charming town of Charlbury, this honey-coloured bolthole is the perfect size for two. Comfort is at the forefront here, there’s a wood-burning stove that keeps both the lounge and kitchen-diner toasty, underfloor heating to warm toes after long rambles through the countryside and a super king size bed to fall into when you’re all worn out. Outside, a courtyard festooned with wildflowers is the perfect spot for lunches of Double Gloucester cheese and hunks of sourdough bread, picked up from the Farmers’ Market held every second Saturday. Pull on your walking boots and follow the Finstock and Evenlode Walk, a picturesque five-mile loop that starts in the centre of town and passes the Cornbury Park Estate. And when all of that rambling becomes thirsty work, the Bull Inn pub is less than five minutes from your doorstep – stick around for the Sunday roast and chocolate fondant tart. 

Ivy & Crown

When you think of the Cotswolds, chances are you picture chocolate-box villages, cobbled lanes and that famous honey-coloured stone. Stow-on-the-Wold promises all that and more. It's home to chic restaurants, traditional inns, cosy pubs and plenty of independent shops ripe for browsing. With countryside walks on your doorstep and many Cotswolds attractions within driving distance, this is a desirable place to be – and we absolutely adore this cottage, which is smack-dab in the centre of town. Once an antique showroom, this inviting homestead is now filled with local artwork – including paintings by the host's grandfather – as well as The Cotswold Company furniture and every amenity you can think of. Snuggle up with a book in front of the wood-burner, challenge the family to a board game around the dining table or relax with a soak in the sumptuous master bathtub. The private courtyard is the perfect spot to savour a cup of tea or a cocktail in the sun. In the evenings, light the barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal, gathering around the fire pit for toasted marshmallows when the air turns chilly. 

Host Susy goes above and beyond, providing everything you'll need, be it a complete dinner set and kitchen loaded with appliances and crockery to the luxury toiletries in the bathrooms. She can even arrange restaurant reservations and has a whole slew of recommendations, so you'll be in excellent hands.

The Robins & The Roses

Set within four acres of private grounds, this scenic spot offers panoramic views from every room. Where cosier to take in vistas across the surrounding meadows than in front of the wood-burning stove in the living area? Better still, outside, the patio features a Swiss-style wood-fired hot tub, two iron fire pits, outdoor seating and a barbecue. On-site, you can explore the orchard or stroll along the stream before extending the walk to the local pubs and restaurants of Aston Fields. Meanwhile, the host can help arrange for a private chef, and you can book beauty treatments at the on-site wellness centre here too. 



Caterpillar Cottage

Brimming with character, this honey-hued stone cottage is the definition of a Cotswolds charmer. Inside, a cosy fireplace sets the scene for a relaxing stay. We love the mix of traditional features alongside the more contemporary touches – the kitchen is particularly modern and has all the essentials you’ll need. Step outside and you’ll find a small but sunny garden, perfect for morning coffees and evening cocktails. Location-wise, Chipping Campden is 1.5 miles away and offers a range of independent shops, village pubs, and pretty walks through the surrounding countryside.

Primrose & Honey

Enjoy a romantic stay at this handsome barn conversion, lying at the end of a track, on a family-run arable farm, surrounded by fields – this is a sublime retreat. Relax with a glass of bubbly in the private hot tub with its idyllic views through the farm to the fields beyond (your lovely hosts provide bathrobes and slippers), then savour a barbecue lunch in the sun. It's also the perfect spot to do a bit of stargazing when the night skies are clear and full of sparkling diamonds. Beautiful bi-fold doors provide plenty of light inside this single-level barn, which was once a grain store. We love the gorgeous stone floor and exposed wooden roof beams framing the high ceiling. A fresh colour scheme of pale cream, yellows and greys complement the rustic yet stylish design. If you can tear yourself away from this love nest, there's plenty to explore. Go for a walk to the historic riverside village of Bidford-on-Avon, sixteen minutes on foot, where you'll find an array of charming pubs, restaurants, shops, and a picturesque church built in 1250. Or visit Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, around a twenty-five-minute drive, while stunning Warwick Castle is a few minutes more in the car. The magnificent Cotswolds are on your doorstep too – Hidcote Manor Garden, near Chipping Campden, just over a fifteen-minute ride, which has one of Britain's most influential Arts and Crafts gardens.

Shakespearean Elegance

The honey-coloured stone buildings, wisteria-adorned doorways and misty green hills of pretty Painswick couldn't get more Hollywood movie set if it tried. In fact, this town is so disarmingly attractive that it's known as the Queen of the Cotswolds. Well, adjust your crown because we've got a very princely stay right here for you. This 16th-century cottage is in the heart of the town, opposite the legendary 99 Yew Trees Church with its magnificent yew trees – can you take a wild guess how many?

Once inside you'll feel like a modern-day Henry VII thanks to exposed stonework, regal purple sofas, aged wooden beams and hefty wooden beds. In the second living room you'll find an honesty bar where your host has thoughtfully provided a selection of spirits – all donations made by you for the drinks you make are given to Emmaus, a local homelessness charity.

Outside you'll find the very private, very sunny courtyard garden is a delight, with lush, mature trees and immaculately manicured shrubs creating that Hampton Court Palace garden feel - albeit on a much smaller scale. It's a right royal escape.

The 99 Yew Trees

Slap bang in the national reserve of Malvern Hills, this collection of barns is based in an official Area of Outstanding National Beauty, and the home itself isn't far off that description, too. With vast arched glass windows, cool and contemporary spaces filled with natural light, original wooden beams everywhere, and an indoor pool so luxurious it belongs in a Bond villain's home, you'll want to spend your whole trip at this retreat. The lounge has sweeping views for when you want to relax with a film between glances at the stars, and the dining space is the perfect place to serve an elegant dinner spread or a lazy round of coffees. Explore the national reserve and its diverse landscape on your doorstep, and take a hike to Midsummer Hill - a walk or quick drive away. Bathe in luxury in either the huge shower or the sleek bathtub - the best way to wake up on a getaway.
