The home itself is a splendourful hub flush with all things luxurious. Beautiful antique furnishings add character, meanwhile the peppering of gold–framed artworks sprinkle an extra dusting of splendour. The colour scheme is a medley or warm reds and rich browns and in the master bathroom, traditional black and white floor tiles instantly draw the eye. We particularly love the living area with its brown leather chaise sofa and Persian rug. Complete with an ancient fireplace at its heart, there's also a circular alcove and desk to one side, and a flatscreen television. Quite frankly, we couldn't think of a more elegant spot to watch a movie!

We love the idea of dining below the trendy, low-hanging lampshade next to the charcoal feature wall. And this isn’t your only dining option – how about an alfresco meal on your own balcony? Then round off the evening with a stroll around the residents' garden. In the morning, savour a hearty bowl of porridge to prepare for a big day ahead. As you’re just a six-minute walk from the edge of Holyrood Park, you’ve got an enormous green space to explore. Located on a typically quaint street in Edinburgh's New Town, this apartment is in a great location, only a short walk away from the sights of Old Town, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and a huge range of cafes and shops to explore in the local area. The interior of this home feels homely and relaxed, sporting an earthy colour palette and high-quality soft furnishings. The mix of Georgian features and rustic vibes — tartan throws will never not be cosy in our eyes — work well with the natural light that pours in from the large windows and creates a great sense of space. The cherry on the cake is the spacious and dazzlingly white bathrooms, complete with a free-standing bathtub that's just the ticket for a long, restorative soak.

Grab your own cosy nook right on the Royal Mile – Edinburgh's main artery, ending at the castle. Moments away, you'll find whisky bars serving over 200 different drams, fully kilted pipers, and – in August, anyway – the magical chaos of the Edinburgh Festival. This apartment offers brief respite from all that, kitted out with a flat-screen TV for binge-watching, a generous kitchen corner for preparing tipsy laird pudding and a squishy red leather sofa to eat it on. Downstairs is the famous World's End pub – grab a pint and people-watch for a while.

We’d normally start with the fantastic West End location, but let’s talk about this luxurious apartment first. There’s a stylish open-plan living space with a modern fireplace – the perfect place to relax after a busy day. The main highlight, though, is the opulent bathroom which provides a spa-like oasis with a Jacuzzi and walk-in shower. This home also has a front patio – ideal for a bit of fresh air. Now, what about the prestigious address? Well, many of the city's most iconic landmarks are within walking distance, such as Deans Village, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Princes Street, and more.

Scottish Opulence

Found on a charming cobbled lane in the middle of Edinburgh's famous New Town, this apartment in a listed Georgian building has way more going for it other than its prime spot on the map. Inside, the palette of greys, blacks and dark wood give the interior the sort of character and warmth you envision from a home in the Scottish capital. Two large sash windows in the living space invite in natural light and there are several lavish touches in the interior design, from the ornate furnishings and the patterned wallpaper to the subway tile bathroom. There's a wide selection of restaurants to be found on the neighbouring Queen Street and George Street, while lots of the city's most famous attractions can be easily reached on foot — Edinburgh Castle takes just under a quarter of an hour, for instance.


A Sandstone Stay

Experience a stay like no other at this cosy Gothic castle, part of an unfinished design for Edinburgh’s first observatory. At the top of Calton Hill, you'll have some truly breathtaking views from this historical home. The National Gallery is next door and the rest of the city is a short walk away, easily making up for the lack of parking. It should be noted that the home's standout location does attract a number of tourists, so if you're looking for some peace and privacy it might not be for you. That said, the main bedroom enjoys an en-suite with a luxurious standalone bathtub, and there's outdoor seating to make the most of this stunning location.

With this Buckstone cottage, you get the best of both worlds. Edinburgh city centre and all its landmarks are only a twenty-minute drive away, but you'll have excellent walks, the Seven Hills viewpoint, and leafy parks practically on your doorstep. Better still, a private front garden here will surely be a hit when the sun is out. It's the perfect spot to wind down in the evenings, though the light-filled living area is also a fine place to relax. The bedrooms are a little snug, but we think it does the job for a laid-back stay on the outskirts of the city.

Sitting within one of Edinburgh's many Georgian buildings, this loft apartment doesn't have the period features you might expect from the handsome exterior, but it's still easy on the eye nevertheless. Ideally, it could do with another bathroom, but that's nitpicking really. One thing we especially like is that the neighbourhood is a little more residential than the touristy centre, but you're still within walking distance of many of the city's attractions – the castle and old town are both around half an hour's walk, for instance.

This is a genuinely special home, with an abundance of character and sophistication, with everything finished to a high quality. The location was equally impressive, found on a quiet cobbled street just off a main busy road, within walking distance of the city centre. While the striking master bedroom came close, the living room was our favourite room in the home. It feels almost like an old school drawing room, but with an added comfort factor. There's also great attention to detail, such as the drawer of hot water bottles in the kitchen for those rainy Scottish evenings.

Located on an iconic street serialised in Alexander McCall Smith’s beloved Scotland Street books, this beautiful Georgian apartment combines nineteenth-century elegance with luxury modern comforts. 
Tall corniced ceilings, wood floors and an abundance of light coming in through the sash windows create an instantly welcoming feel with chic, contemporary furnishings inviting you to make yourself at home. We love the living room’s large suede sofas that beckon relaxing evenings over a glass of wine by the period working fireplace, and the large kitchen bathed in natural light that’s ready to cater celebratory feasts aplenty. The three bedrooms, meanwhile, have each been carefully curated with a sophisticated touch and boast similarly large windows that give way to New Town views. We’re particularly fond of the main bedroom’s en-suite – a spa-like space with its rainfall shower and tempting tub, the latter providing the perfect end to a night with a glass of bubbly. 
With ample entertainment options, plenty of children’s equipment on hand, as well as a lavish amount of space in which to socialise or spend some quiet time alone, this is an ideal base for those looking to make the most out of their city stay.
Outside of your home, Calton Hill and its wide-sweeping views over Edinburgh is just a fifteen-minute walk away, as is Princes Street’s parade of shops. Edinburgh Castle is also easily walkable in twenty minutes, while charming Dean Village is twenty-five minutes away on foot.

In Edinburgh, history oozes out of every corner – and this Victorian home has a unique heritage of its own. A former 1800s Victorian ironmonger, this shop used to service the trading ships sailing back and forth from Leith Port to Iceland. Now, it's a cosy and contemporary hideaway in one of the most buzzing parts of the city.

Swapping Victorian allure for sleek mid-century style, the open-plan living space is a relaxed place to chill out and decompress after exploring the hustle and bustle of Old Town. Host Lynda has an incredible eye for design, and there are plenty of spots to snuggle up and get comfortable. Rustle up a meal in the kitchen, followed by a Netflix movie night on the plush blue sofa. When it's time for some shut-eye, drift off to sleep in one of the comfortable and chic bedrooms – both feature the large, original shop windows that flood the space with sunlight.

Although Leith is just outside the much-frequented neighbourhoods in the city centre, don't let that fool you – you'll find great bars and some of Edinburgh's best restaurants right on your doorstep. Here, old shipping warehouses now play host to photo studios, art galleries and delectable eateries, while the waterfront road along the port – aptly called The Shore – is dotted with cafes, pubs and shops. And with buses running directly into the centre taking about fifteen minutes, you'll have easy access to the tourist hotspots, too.

That couldn’t be further from the truth for this apartment in Edinburgh’s New Town. The Georgian frontage and original features – think marble fireplaces, high ceilings, and hardwood floors – have been tastefully augmented with rich carpets, and antique and handmade furniture. It’s no wonder this place won a Hilden Style Award. You’ll find modern comforts in the sleek, white kitchen, though the solid wood table and crystal whisky decanter add a bit of old-world charm. This light-flooded city pad is a fantastic base for your Edinburgh stay and if you can peel yourself away from the grand Chesterfield sofas, you’re a ten-minute stroll from George Street, twenty from Edinburgh Castle and just over fifteen from the Royal Mile.

Today, you'll find a modern and inviting private home, where you’ll be greeted by a colourful and characterful space – think white walls with original mouldings, vibrant candy-coloured rugs and beautiful prints hanging on the walls. There’s also a classic piano for evenings spent in the sociable dining room, gathered around a home-cooked feast with your own personal soundtrack and pretty views of the neighbourhood. The bedrooms are similarly styled, with lovely wall details and traditional fireplaces complemented by gold accents, antique mirrors and colourful carpets and throws. Get cosy and recharge before heading out into the picturesque heart of the city. You’ll be just a three-minute walk from the majestic Edinburgh Castle and five minutes from the historic Old Town. Spend lovely mornings strolling through the greenery at the Princess Street Gardens, just four minutes away before you get lost in the maze of the city.

Just over a twenty-minute walk from the heart and soul of the Old Town – Edinburgh Castle – the New Town has quite a different vibe. You’ll find Georgian architecture nearly everywhere you turn, and historic tenement buildings lining the streets as you head towards Canonmills. While these stone structures might look similar from the outside, we can guarantee you'll find eclectic homes within. This flat is no exception. The owner is a local artist, whose creative interior design choices are evident throughout. You’ll find her charming, abstract artwork on display in various rooms, as well as brightly-coloured walls, quirky tablecloth prints, antique furniture, and unique lamps on ornate cabinets. Our favourite spot has to be the lounge – this yellow room is full of character and old-world charm. Light up the fire and gather everyone round for a board game on a rainy day in this sumptuous space. Or at dusk, it could equally serve as a plush pad for an impromptu whisky-tasting session. While you sip on single malts, have the host arrange for a private chef to come over and handle dinner. You are on holiday after all.

Small but perfectly formed, this apartment is a great base in Edinburgh’s New Town. It’s just an eight-minute walk to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, and Princes Street Gardens are only thirteen minutes away. There are countless bars, cafes and eateries within walking distance, too. The open-plan living and dining space is compact but attractive, and you also have the bonus of a garden to spread out in. The free-standing bathtub is another treat, perfect if you’ve spent the day sightseeing and need to rest your feet.

We have to say we love this home’s spacious living room with its character features and large sash windows. Another highlight is the bathrooms with their freestanding bathtubs. There’s a seating area in the dining room, too, which also has a log burner. This home is perfect for families or friends wanting easy access to all that this wonderful city has to offer.
