This delightful townhouse is on the beachfront of quiet Rhos-on-Sea. For a coastal getaway and the chance to experience the charm of a small town, look no further. 

The house is just across the road from the beach, so each morning you’ll wake up to the sound of the sea gently rushing to shore. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room showcase the home’s prime beachfront location – if you’re anything like us, you’ll lose track of how long you spend gazing at the peaceful view. There’s a small garden at the front of the house, where you might enjoy a cuppa while watching the fishing boats in the distance, as well as a sunny patio at the back of the house, ideal for takeaway dinners of fish and chips after long days spent on the beach. 

When you’ve had your fill of sailing, swimming and sea fishing from the beach, there’s still plenty to explore nearby. You might like to bring your bikes and set off along the coastal track. Conwy and its gorgeous castle are just twelve minutes away by car, which makes for a lovely afternoon out. Pop into a cafe for lunch before visiting the castle and taking in the history. Snowdonia National Park is also within easy reach, so any hikers in your group will be happy – a thirty-two-minute drive will see you setting off on walks that guarantee gorgeous scenery.

Perfectly sized for two guests, there’s an open-plan living room with a wood-burning fire, a snug bedroom and a small courtyard (shared with the neighbours). Two dogs are welcome to join you here, plus there’s a sweet welcome pack with Prosecco provided for your arrival. Outside, you’ll find everything you could need on the doorstep. From here, it’s a short walk to the castle, beaches and amenities. It’s also a great base for guests looking to adventure further afield and explore Snowdonia National Park.

In the idyllic mining own of Blaenau Ffestiniog, this home was once an old chapel dating back to 1861. The building has been lovingly renovated, featuring an open-plan kitchen and snug area ideal for family living. There’s a pool table here too, which is boung to keep both the kids and grown-ups entertained for a few hours. When it comes to things to see and do, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to activities. We recommend heading into town to rent bikes and exploring some of the many biking routes on offer, which will have you riding past old quarries, lakes and rivers.

At this lovely stone farm cottage, adopting the slow pace of nature and taking it easy is widely encouraged as you unwind in its fairy tale atmosphere and quirky interior. Located within a courtyard of a working farm, it’s an animal lover’s dream – not to mention the well-known farm shop on your doorstep so you can pack the country-style kitchen with fresh, local produce. When you aren’t snuggled up on the sofa or catching a quick cat nap in your rustic bedroom, you can sip your morning coffee on the private patio, taking in the blooming garden, while saying hello to a cow or two. We can vouch for the panoramic views over the rolling green hills and country fields too. Although two people can enjoy the comfortable bed, we would happily stay here alone for a calming solo trip. Or stay local and climb the surrounding Moelwynion Mountains to reach Stiniog –⁠ the views are worth the climb.

Nearby attractions include Adventure Parc Snowdonia and Zip World Fforest, and the local market town of Llanrwst is just a few miles away where you can sample local cafes and restaurants or walk along the River Conwy. One well-behaved dog is welcome to stay at the property for an additional charge, but pets are not allowed upstairs, on sofa or beds.

This beautiful stone holiday farmhouse, dating back to the 17th century, is one of 10 self-catering cottages on an agricultural estate in North Wales. The farmhouse has been restored using traditional materials and techniques and boasts many period features including exposed beams, wooden and slate floors, and a bread oven. It offers stunning pastoral views and has three bedrooms - one with a 5' king-size bed, one with a 6' super-king size zip and link beds, and another with twin single beds. The property can accommodate up to six guests and has two bathrooms. A separate annexe provides accommodation for an additional two guests. The cottage has an enclosed garden complete with garden furniture and a barbecue. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at an additional charge. Guests can explore over 20 miles of private paths that run through woods and farms across the estate or visit the world-famous Bodnant Garden owned by the National Trust. Fishing permits are available from the Bodnant Garden Centre, which also offers a range of unusual plants and gifts at its craft centre. Various activities are on offer nearby such as Zip World Fforest, Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Welsh Mountain Zoo, sandy beaches of Llandudno, Conwy and Colwyn Bay are within about a 15-minute drive.

Built a few years ago, this beautiful conversion may still bear some resemblance to a barn with its stone clad facade, but that’s where the similarities end. Inside you’ll find simple, clean lines and, apart from a few pops of colour, a fairly neutral colour palette. Stylish, and clearly modern, the home’s crowning glory is the wide expanse of green that can be admired from the front door. Stare out over the beautiful dips and peaks as you take your seat at the wrought-iron table outside and nurse your first cup of coffee of the day. 

Breakfast can also be enjoyed out here if you prefer, although the wood dining table in the living space is elegant, and with its position right next to a window, you don’t entirely lose sight of the scenic views on offer. 

With a real focus on reconnecting you with nature, most of the ground floor rooms open up to let the fresh country air in – take a nap on the cushy bed with the doors ajar and wake up refreshed.

This grade II listed Georgian House in Ludlow is everything we look for in a quiet village getaway. Rebuilt and lived in by former glove makers from the late 1600s, this home is steeped in history, dating back to the Civil War – and doesn't it show. There are heaps of original features to these cosy digs. We especially love the handmade oak doors, wood beam ceilings and intricate fireplace that have been professionally restored by master craftsmen. While these period features add interest, the comfy living room is our favourite spot, with its realistic optimyst stove and large L-shaped sofa. Toast up those toes in front of the fire with a good book and a glass of wine in hand – you'll feel all warm and homely in no time at all. Step outside of this 17th-century building and explore one of the loveliest market towns in England that's positively brimming with listed buildings, medieval castles and striking churches. Take a short twelve-minute walk up Corve Street to the town centre and explore this historic place for yourself.
