There aren't many homes in our collection where you could feasibly arrive by kayak rather than by car, but this is one of them. Perched on the side of the Menai Strait, this four-storey gem dates back to the Victorian era and benefits from beautiful views of the sea, Bangor Pier and the Snowdonia mountain range. This can be enjoyed from the big bay windows or the comfort of the outdoor terrace. Better still, you can head down to the home's private shingle beach which also has a small cave to explore. Back inside the home, the interior is traditional, with portraits hanging on the walls and a large wooden dining table a regal centrepiece to gather the group around after the day's excursions. The town of Beaumaris with its castle, pier and beach take just six minutes to reach in the car, while you can get to Penrhyn Zip World in twenty minutes if you're looking for hi-octane thrills.

A beautifully converted farm building set on a working dairy farm, this home does away with all the vintage styling and knick-knacks you might expect – instead bringing crisp, modern decor and home-from-home comfort. Bright, nicely laid-out and perfect for a couple or a small family, it's a quiet, rural retreat just five miles from some of Anglesey's popular beaches.  

Lovers of the countryside will be in their element here, with a milking parlour just along the track and a small campsite on the doorstep, and you're welcome to watch the milking take place. As part of your welcome gift, you'll even receive some Rhyd y Delyn Welsh cheese – produced on-site by the owners, no less. 

Back at the cottage, you'll have a well-equipped eat-in kitchen and a small outdoor table and chairs so you can eat outside in fine weather. And the master bedroom has a small balcony, giving you a great view. Keen walkers and cyclists will find lots to explore and it's less than hour's drive to the footpaths of Mount Snowdon.

This pretty stone cottage used to be an old dairy. It’s now been lovingly converted into a holiday cottage with all the comforts you could wish for. Modern convenience sits side by side with original features in this charm-filled home. 

Just a five-minute drive from Menai Bridge, and with all of Anglesey’s delights just waiting to be discovered, this cottage is in an excellent location. The nearest beach is just two miles away, so make sure you bring your bucket and spade. There are hikes to enjoy, and cosy country pubs to discover. 

When you return to the cottage, you can make the most of the good weather by taking a seat outside. The cottage is tucked away within a private courtyard, where you can sit out and enjoy a cuppa and some Welsh cakes. Stroll around the lush gardens of the neighbouring farmhouse and admire the pond and flowers. Later on, you might curl up in the lounge for a cosy game night with the family after takeaway fish and chips.

The picturesque town of Caernarfon is a truly lovely part of Wales. Glorious Snowdonia National Park is a short drive away, so hikers will want to pack their boots.

Cosy Caernarfon

Built in 1816, this Grade II listed former school house offers a comfortable family getaway in the heart of  Beaumaris, with the town’s shops, coastline, moated castle and historic gaol all just a short stroll away. A cosy gas fireplace in the living room provides the perfect spot to unwind on cooler evenings and rainy days, while the sunroom and its access to the garden is a definite highlight here too. Balmy afternoons can be spent playing lawn games and enjoying alfresco barbecue meals when you’re not out exploring. But if you can bear to tear yourself away, you’ll find Penmon Priory and Dovecote nearby with a little toll road leading to Penmon Point, opposite Puffin Island and its charming lighthouse.

Inside, it’s fuss-free and comfortable for six guests, with the flexibility to have two bedrooms set up as twins or kings, depending on your preference. Sure, the twin rooms are a bit of a squeeze. You’ll also need to mind your head on the sloping ceiling of the second-floor bedroom and en-suite WC, but the vistas from each floor and the water-facing balcony more than make up for it. Bangor, Snowdonia National Park, Caernarfon and Anglesey are all within driving distance, so this is a great option for exploring North Wales.

Perfectly sized for two guests, there’s an open-plan living room with a wood-burning fire, a snug bedroom and a small courtyard (shared with the neighbours). Two dogs are welcome to join you here, plus there’s a sweet welcome pack with Prosecco provided for your arrival. Outside, you’ll find everything you could need on the doorstep. From here, it’s a short walk to the castle, beaches and amenities. It’s also a great base for guests looking to adventure further afield and explore Snowdonia National Park.

We may have found the most adorable home for two. This former milking parlour is one of a small group of cottages in the heart of the Anglesey countryside. Rural, secluded and perfectly in tune with nature, it’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down. Wander down secret paths in the extensive grounds then take a seat on the deck to watch the dragonflies hovering above the water. The fishing lake is well stocked and there can surely be few more idyllic places for casting a line. Inside the single-storey stone cottage, you’ll find pine furniture, pretty coordinating fabrics and a log burner to warm your toes by. With Anglesey’s dramatic coastline just a short drive away, big surf and blustery coastal walks are in plentiful supply. Stock up for supper in the bustling market town of Llangefni, before hunkering down for the night together.

This charming cottage is perfectly located for exploring the Isle of Anglesey. Though the interior is nothing out of the ordinary, the home is well-kept and has some great features, including a playroom with books, games, and even a wooden horse. Slow down at this Welsh cottage set in the slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog fringing the mighty Snowdonia National Park. Inside, the original period features of this slate-clad home have been carefully restored to create a modern family home boasting comfortable interiors. The welcome hamper stuffed with local goodies is a nice touch, and outside, there's an enclosed terrace to savour morning cuppas. Parking on the road outside the cottage can be tricky, but with a free car park nearby, we don't think it's a dealbreaker. When you're ready for an adventure, Snowdonia National Park is just a short drive away. Or stay local and climb the surrounding Moelwynion Mountains to reach Stiniog –⁠ the views are worth the climb.

You’ll find this home in Talwrn village, a ten-minute drive from Benllech and around five minutes from Llangefni. Inside, there’s a living space with a wood burner (a starter pack of logs is provided), and a kitchen equipped with everything you need to cook hearty meals. As the ground floor bedroom offers flexible sleeping arrangements, thanks to the zip and link bed, this place suits families and groups of friends alike. Head outside to a furnished patio with views towards Snowdonia Mountain Range – a sight best enjoyed with a cup of tea in hand.

Maybe Tomorrow

Just a short stroll from Benllech Beach, this detached cottage provides the perfect setting for a refreshing coastal getaway. You’ll be welcomed by a cosy atmosphere as well as fresh flowers and homemade cake (your host can also organise a pre-arrival shopping delivery). Other highlights included the private patio and a wood-burning stove, plus the rooms are spread across one level – making this a great option for guests with reduced mobility. From here, you’ll find easy access to local amenities, while keen walkers will appreciate the close proximity to the Anglesey Coastal Path. 


The Old Sea Cottage

If you're a keen birdwatcher, you'll love this home's location on the banks of Foryd Bay, a nature reserve in North Wales that sees huge numbers of different species migrate to the area for winter. However, even if your interest in wildlife is less obsessive, we're sure you'll still fall for the sweeping views of the Menai Strait and Snowdonia in the other direction. The cottage is certainly geared up for just sitting back and marvelling at nature, with huge windows in the living room, as well as a roof terrace and a hot tub in the enclosed garden facing the water for when the weather's more agreeable. When the sun's gone down, you'll find this home the epitome of cosiness, especially with the fireplace crackling away and the whole party snuggled up on the comfy sofas surrounding. Although you'll find the immediate surroundings beautifully tranquil, there's plenty of action nearby if you seek it. Dinas Beach is only ten minutes away in the car, while the world's fastest zip line can be enjoyed — or not — at Zip World Penrhyn Valley, just over half an hour's drive away.

Snuggled at the southern point of Snowdonia National Park in Sarnau, this quaint abode is made for rural exploration. If you don't fancy the challenging terrains of Snowdon, there are various walking and cycling trails close by to the cottage.

This snug home infuses a homespun and rustic feel with modern comforts. Find stone walls and wooden beams looking into a TV, DVD player and contemporary cooking items. It's the perfect blend of tradition and technology. 

To really capture the privacy and peace of your home, sit out on the garden bench and admire the stunning views. Situated in a quiet hamlet, the only sounds you'll hear are from the animals in the nearby fields.

If you'd prefer to get out and explore the nearby area, the encompassing landscape is blessed with numerous mountain biking trails. If two wheels aren't your scene, Bala is just four miles away and is an oasis of water sports, abseiling and kayaking.

Once you've explored the diverse scenery around your tranquil haven, visit the welcoming pubs and restaurants around Bala. For a real Welsh treat, a Michelin star restaurant resides up the road in Llandrillo.

Built a few years ago, this beautiful conversion may still bear some resemblance to a barn with its stone clad facade, but that’s where the similarities end. Inside you’ll find simple, clean lines and, apart from a few pops of colour, a fairly neutral colour palette. Stylish, and clearly modern, the home’s crowning glory is the wide expanse of green that can be admired from the front door. Stare out over the beautiful dips and peaks as you take your seat at the wrought-iron table outside and nurse your first cup of coffee of the day. 

Breakfast can also be enjoyed out here if you prefer, although the wood dining table in the living space is elegant, and with its position right next to a window, you don’t entirely lose sight of the scenic views on offer. 

With a real focus on reconnecting you with nature, most of the ground floor rooms open up to let the fresh country air in – take a nap on the cushy bed with the doors ajar and wake up refreshed. 

Walk the grounds or watch the little ones run around on the lawn whilst you enjoy a glass of wine in a sun lounger. This is also a great spot for sunsets, but before that, you can drive out and explore the rural Welsh beauty of this area, you might want to stop off at the Rhug Estate Farm Shop and drive-thru, about six minutes away, to refuel before perhaps enjoy two splendid nearby reservoir walks: Brenig and Alwyn

But far from its transatlantic, urban sibling, this quaint village has stuck to its rustic roots. At the heart of the town, a five-minute walk from the golf club, four from the 13th century St. Michaels Church, and less than a minute from your nearest pub, this cottage is ready to welcome you home. As you arrive, its rugged stone exterior oozes rural, village charm. The white door beckons you inside, where underfloor heating allows you to explore every room in warmth and comfort. Its cosy, traditional lounge features a wood-burning stove and plump leather sofas – perfect for snuggling up with a classic novel as you sip hot chocolate. But on summer days, the conservatory at the back offers a modern, sunlit nook for sipping chilled pinot grigio. We love the stylish, bi-folding doors leading out to your private patio and courtyard. The house is just across the road from the beach, so each morning you’ll wake up to the sound of the sea gently rushing to shore. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room showcase the home’s prime beachfront location – if you’re anything like us, you’ll lose track of how long you spend gazing at the peaceful view. There’s a small garden at the front of the house, where you might enjoy a cuppa while watching the fishing boats in the distance, as well as a sunny patio at the back of the house, ideal for takeaway dinners of fish and chips after long days spent on the beach. 

When you’ve had your fill of sailing, swimming and sea fishing from the beach, there’s still plenty to explore nearby. You might like to bring your bikes and set off along the coastal track. Conwy and its gorgeous castle are just twelve minutes away by car, which makes for a lovely afternoon out. Pop into a cafe for lunch before visiting the castle and taking in the history. Snowdonia National Park is also within easy reach, so any hikers in your group will be happy – a thirty-two-minute drive will see you setting off on walks that guarantee gorgeous scenery.
