This charming cottage is perfectly located for exploring the Isle of Anglesey. Though the interior is nothing out of the ordinary, the home is well-kept and has some great features, including a playroom with books, games, and even a wooden horse. Outside, guests can enjoy a private patio with stunning views of the area, as well as communal seating and a lovely courtyard at the front. If you're a keen birdwatcher, you'll love this home's location on the banks of Foryd Bay, a nature reserve in North Wales that sees huge numbers of different species migrate to the area for winter. However, even if your interest in wildlife is less obsessive, we're sure you'll still fall for the sweeping views of the Menai Strait and Snowdonia in the other direction. The cottage is certainly geared up for just sitting back and marvelling at nature, with huge windows in the living room, as well as a roof terrace and a hot tub in the enclosed garden facing the water for when the weather's more agreeable. When the sun's gone down, you'll find this home the epitome of cosiness, especially with the fireplace crackling away and the whole party snuggled up on the comfy sofas surrounding. Although you'll find the immediate surroundings beautifully tranquil, there's plenty of action nearby if you seek it. Dinas Beach is only ten minutes away in the car, while the world's fastest zip line can be enjoyed — or not — at Zip World Penrhyn Valley, just over half an hour's drive away.

By splitting eighteen guests into three smaller groups, the bright homes ensure everyone's privacy whilst also providing communal spaces in which to make memories. There aren't many homes in our collection where you could feasibly arrive by kayak rather than by car, but this is one of them. Perched on the side of the Menai Strait, this four-storey gem dates back to the Victorian era and benefits from beautiful views of the sea, Bangor Pier and the Snowdonia mountain range. This can be enjoyed from the big bay windows or the comfort of the outdoor terrace. Better still, you can head down to the home's private shingle beach which also has a small cave to explore. Back inside the home, the interior is traditional, with portraits hanging on the walls and a large wooden dining table a regal centrepiece to gather the group around after the day's excursions. The town of Beaumaris with its castle, pier and beach take just six minutes to reach in the car, while you can get to Penrhyn Zip World in twenty minutes if you're looking for hi-octane thrills.

We may have found the most adorable home for two. This former milking parlour is one of a small group of cottages in the heart of the Anglesey countryside. Rural, secluded and perfectly in tune with nature, it’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down. Wander down secret paths in the extensive grounds then take a seat on the deck to watch the dragonflies hovering above the water. The fishing lake is well stocked and there can surely be few more idyllic places for casting a line. Inside the single-storey stone cottage, you’ll find pine furniture, pretty coordinating fabrics and a log burner to warm your toes by. With Anglesey’s dramatic coastline just a short drive away, big surf and blustery coastal walks are in plentiful supply. This welcoming, 19th century character holiday home provides ideal accommodation for families or couples who are seeking an escape to the seaside.
Enjoy the welcoming coastal theme that permeates the entire interior of the house. Relax in the living and dining area. the open-plan design provides a sociable atmosphere for you and your fellow guests to unwind, whether you choose to gather around the table or settle into the vibrant sofas in front of the TV.
Entering the classic and well-lit kitchen through the wooden floors, you'll find an attractive Welsh dresser adding to the rooms character, among a variety of cooking tools, such as an electric fan oven and an induction stove.
The two wonderfully presented bedrooms are located on the first floor, and include a king-size room with magnificent sea views, and a beautiful double room. Both have Jack-and-Jill access to the gorgeous shower room.

Lovers of the countryside will be in their element here, with a milking parlour just along the track and a small campsite on the doorstep, and you're welcome to watch the milking take place. As part of your welcome gift, you'll even receive some Rhyd y Delyn Welsh cheese – produced on-site by the owners, no less. 

Back at the cottage, you'll have a well-equipped eat-in kitchen and a small outdoor table and chairs so you can eat outside in fine weather. And the master bedroom has a small balcony, giving you a great view. Keen walkers and cyclists will find lots to explore and it's less than hour's drive to the footpaths of Mount Snowdon.

Of course, climbing the famous Snowdon has to be the main draw, but the hilly trails are also great for cycling, and calm lakes are perfect for stand-up paddleboarding. Thrill-seekers can be sure to get their kicks too at the world's fastest zipline, just 10 miles away. 

The surrounding village has a couple of cafes within a short stroll, where you can fuel your body each morning, while lakeside Llanberis is just 4 miles away – it's here that you'll find the start of the Snowdonia trail. Elsewhere the grand medieval town of Caernarfon sits on the coast, a fifteen-minute drive from your front door – its Unesco-recognised castle is well worth exploring.

After a long day of adventures, this cosy cottage is the perfect spot to return to. Dine outside at the south-facing picnic table in the summer months. This delightful townhouse is on the beachfront of quiet Rhos-on-Sea. For a coastal getaway and the chance to experience the charm of a small town, look no further. 

The house is just across the road from the beach, so each morning you’ll wake up to the sound of the sea gently rushing to shore. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room showcase the home’s prime beachfront location – if you’re anything like us, you’ll lose track of how long you spend gazing at the peaceful view. There’s a small garden at the front of the house, where you might enjoy a cuppa while watching the fishing boats in the distance, as well as a sunny patio at the back of the house, ideal for takeaway dinners of fish and chips after long days spent on the beach. 

When you’ve had your fill of sailing, swimming and sea fishing from the beach, there’s still plenty to explore nearby. You might like to bring your bikes and set off along the coastal track. Conwy and its gorgeous castle are just twelve minutes away by car, which makes for a lovely afternoon out. Pop into a cafe for lunch before visiting the castle and taking in the history. Snowdonia National Park is also within easy reach, so any hikers in your group will be happy – a thirty-two-minute drive will see you setting off on walks that guarantee gorgeous scenery.

Built a few years ago, this beautiful conversion may still bear some resemblance to a barn with its stone clad facade, but that’s where the similarities end. Inside you’ll find simple, clean lines and, apart from a few pops of colour, a fairly neutral colour palette. Stylish, and clearly modern, the home’s crowning glory is the wide expanse of green that can be admired from the front door. Stare out over the beautiful dips and peaks as you take your seat at the wrought-iron table outside and nurse your first cup of coffee of the day. 

Breakfast can also be enjoyed out here if you prefer, although the wood dining table in the living space is elegant, and with its position right next to a window, you don’t entirely lose sight of the scenic views on offer. 

With a real focus on reconnecting you with nature, most of the ground floor rooms open up to let the fresh country air in – take a nap on the cushy bed with the doors ajar and wake up refreshed. 

Walk the grounds or watch the little ones run around on the lawn whilst you enjoy a glass of wine in a sun lounger. This is also a great spot for sunsets, but before that, you can drive out and explore the rural Welsh beauty of this area, you might want to stop off at the Rhug Estate Farm Shop and drive-thru, about six minutes away, to refuel before perhaps enjoy two splendid nearby reservoir walks: Brenig and Alwyn

If you'd prefer to get out and explore the nearby area, the encompassing landscape is blessed with numerous mountain biking trails. If two wheels aren't your scene, Bala is just four miles away and is an oasis of water sports, abseiling and kayaking.

Once you've explored the diverse scenery around your tranquil haven, visit the welcoming pubs and restaurants around Bala. For a real Welsh treat, a Michelin star restaurant resides up the road in Llandrillo.

The building has been lovingly renovated, featuring an open-plan kitchen and snug area ideal for family living. Charming where it sits on a bend of a lane in rural Dolwyddelan, this terraced stone cottage has become a welcoming base for small families or groups of friends exploring Snowdonia National Park. From the back garden, where a hot tub and dining table are perfect accompaniments to sunny days, you can also enjoy views of Snowdon and Moel Siabod. The kitchen is small and best suited to small bites, but you're close to several restaurants in the town centre. Cosy, bright and brimming with character, this home is also 6km from Betws-y-Coed Golf Club and 18km from Penmaenmawr.

The Copse

With five bedrooms, a long sycamore dining table and luscious green lawns, there’s no excuse for not inviting the whole family for a trip to this Welsh farmhouse. The 16th-century building is full of historical details – look out for the old baking oven, chapel benches and even a coat of arms on the ceiling. Kids and teenagers will be glad to know they can escape to the den, complete with toys, bean bags and games – there’s even a games room, where young and old alike can get competitive playing table tennis and foosball. With plenty to keep the children entertained, enjoy a cosy evening beside the roaring fire, while admiring the rustic beamed ceilings and brickwork hearth as you catch up with relatives, get lost in a good book or even fit in a little snooze before dinner. A short eleven-minute drive will take you to Denbigh Castle, with its ancient walls and bustling art scene in town. You can also head to the long sandy beaches of North Wales in less than half an hour by car, or pull on your hiking boots and enjoy a stunning walk through the Vale of Clwyd – it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, after all. 

Welsh Cakes

One of the funkiest former grain stores we ever did see, this little home is part of a farm in the countryside just outside Pwllheli. Lovingly converted with a great deal of flair and imagination, it's far from your usual holiday home. Upcycled furniture, industrial pieces and pops of colour mix with natural wood, leather and slate. The ground floor living space is cosy and quirky, with a log burner, beamed ceilings and an open staircase. Cook up family meals in the fully kitted-out kitchen and choose to eat indoors or out in the private garden. There's so much to love about this place, but we particularly like the wet room, with its rain shower, light tunnel and penguins hiding in the built-in shelves, and the pretty garden with its fun seating areas. With the owners just next door, make use of the gym, make friends with the farm animals and cook on the fire pit in the evenings. It's just a ten-minute drive into the town, with loads more to see and do nearby, from walking and horse riding to playing on the sandy beaches.

We wish the walls of this barn could speak – arrow slit windows are one of the many stunning historical features of the bedrooms, which gives this home so much character. On waking in the morning, you may fancy a cuppa huddled around the firepit on the large patio area. It will set you up perfectly for a day exploring what the local area has to offer. Golden beaches, the fastest zip wire in Europe and enchanting cafes just scratch the surface of the delights available nearby during your stay. And with your home located on a fifty-acre estate, you’ll have plenty of nature to enjoy right on your doorstep!

We think it's great for families, with your host providing a cot and high chair for little ones and allowing up to two dogs to join you. Books and games are provided for entertainment, and the wood burning stove adds that extra layer of homeliness. You'll have easy access to Snowdonia, Moel Siabod, and Conwy, making this home a great stay for hikers, bikers, and anyone hoping to explore the Welsh coastline.

Welsh Wisteria

Once the former shooting residence of the Earl of Marlborough, this charming Grade II listed cottage in the heart of Snowdonia carefully stitches together history and contemporary design. Original slate floors and a huge inglenook fireplace contrast against modern additions such as the sleek roll-top bath and luxurious hot tub. The kitchen is the heart of the home, where your clan will spend time eating, drinking and playing card games if it tips it down outside. Light the wood-burning stove to keep the chill at bay or warm up with a brisk walk to the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog – you’ll get there in under an hour if you go at a decent pace. Spend sunny afternoons in the beer garden of the Pengwern pub, just a minute’s walk up the road, or jump in the car and take the ten-minute drive to the trout-filled Llyn Trawsfynydd. Hire a fishing rod or stroll around the water’s edge, stopping for a well-deserved cup of tea in the café along the way.

Old Slate

This cosy cottage is tucked down a quiet street within the historic walls of Conwy. Perfectly sized for two guests, there’s an open-plan living room with a wood-burning fire, a snug bedroom and a small courtyard (shared with the neighbours). Two dogs are welcome to join you here, plus there’s a sweet welcome pack with Prosecco provided for your arrival. Outside, you’ll find everything you could need on the doorstep. From here, it’s a short walk to the castle, beaches and amenities. It’s also a great base for guests looking to adventure further afield and explore Snowdonia National Park.

Sea on the Horizon

Slow down at this Welsh cottage set in the slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog fringing the mighty Snowdonia National Park. Inside, the original period features of this slate-clad home have been carefully restored to create a modern family home boasting comfortable interiors. The welcome hamper stuffed with local goodies is a nice touch, and outside, there's an enclosed terrace to savour morning cuppas. Parking on the road outside the cottage can be tricky, but with a free car park nearby, we don't think it's a dealbreaker. When you're ready for an adventure, Snowdonia National Park is just a short drive away. Or stay local and climb the surrounding Moelwynion Mountains to reach Stiniog –⁠ the views are worth the climb.

This charming stone cottage in North Wales accommodates two guests and one child, with spectacular views of the Snowdonia Mountains from a secluded position above the Eglwysbach valley.
