From the alfresco dining table, you can admire quaint country views, and the garden games, including croquet and badminton, are bound to entertain younger guests. The interiors of both homes are in quintessential country style – avid cooks will enjoy using the Aga, and the four-poster bed makes for a memorable sleep. Ideally located near Ludlow and Leominster, there's plenty to see a short drive away – but a local bike ride through the Shropshire hills is equally enjoyable.

This large, detached Georgian home has a fantastic location in the picturesque village of Lydbrook on the banks of the River Wye in the Forest of Dean. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes from the doorstep or explore Monmouth or Ross-on-Wye nearby. There are wonderful views from this home’s upper floors and there are two cosy sitting rooms with wood-burning stoves. Outside the terraced garden offers more vistas and plenty of places to relax in the Gloucestershire sun and there’s a barbecue and pizza oven for alfresco dining.

This delightful holiday home is the garden wing of a fabulous Italianate-style villa that dates back to around 1670. Now a comfortable and modern space, this home delights guests and proves to be the perfect base for exploring the nearby Forest of Dean. 

The villa has been a B&B for forty years, and the garden wing is now available for self-catered stays – it’s ideal for groups of friends or a couple of families getting together for a break. Spend your days out in the fresh air, and your evenings in the wood-beamed living room, playing board games and catching up. 

The Forest of Dean is just a short distance away – you can be at its heart in fifteen minutes. There’s so much to see and do, whether you’re a keen hiker, will be bringing your bikes, or are entertaining little ones. Puzzlewood is seven minutes away by car, and you might even recognise some parts of the Forest from TV and film. 

You can enjoy the great outdoors from the property itself, too. The villa boasts twenty acres of land and formal gardens, which are a delight to stroll through, as well as ponds and a pretty brook. Additionally, you’ll have your own private fenced garden – why not serve afternoon tea in the sunshine? 


The Brook's Babble

Many barn conversions across the British countryside tend to be relatively small and cosy affairs, but this example in rural Gloucestershire is a comparative colossus with a wealth of social space and amenities.

The design inside lies on the rustic side of things, with exposed stonework and wooden ceiling beams to be spotted alongside a wood-burning stove, a clawfoot bathtub and an ornate bed frame in the master bedroom. In the local area, the town of Lydney is only eight minutes' drive away when you need supplies, while both Newport and Gloucester lie about forty-five minutes away in the car. There's a wide choice of natural attractions to be discovered nearby as well, ranging from the Forest of Dean and Puzzlewood to Clearwell Caves.

Secret Hills

With sweeping countryside views and a hot tub perfectly positioned for starlit soaks, this peaceful retreat is all about slowing down. Ideal for two, and surrounded by fields and footpaths, this shepherd's hut sits in the heart of a working dairy farm in the Wye Valley, just fifteen minutes from Chepstow. Inside, soft tones and natural textures create a calming space to unwind, whether you’re curled up by the wood-burning fire, cooking in the compact kitchen or stretched out on the king-size bed. Outside, the private deck is perfect for alfresco breakfasts and quiet evenings with the cows grazing nearby. Don’t leave without trying the farm’s creamy gelato and milkshakes.

Farm Fresh Living

Step back in time in Bath with a stay at this elegant apartment that pays homage to the city's renowned Georgian architecture. With 18th-century touches still intact today, guests can enjoy sweeping ceilings and sash windows that look onto Great Pulteney Street, the longest and widest street in the city. Enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail on the private balcony after a day of exploring all of the fantastic city sights. With the Roman Baths, Thermae Spa, and the city centre all just a short walk away, this is a perfect base for those looking for a homely stay while discovering all that this historic city has to offer. 

Grand Georgian Terrace

Nestled in a country farm, this cosy barn is perfectly positioned for a romantic rural escape. Set across one floor, the space is equipped with all the essentials you could need to settle in and make it your own. Enjoy peace and simplicity while relaxing on the sofa or head out onto the little terrace for evening drinks. Well behaved dogs are welcome to join you here and private parking is available. Plus, it’s just a short stroll to the nearest pub, while Bath and Bristol are both within easy driving distance. 



The Somerset Nest

Set in the Brecon Beacons National Park, this 400 year old farmhouse has been lovingly restored into a luxury eco home. It’s powered by green electricity – from the renewable energy that goes into the underfloor heating, to micro-hydro generation and solar panels. Upstairs the traditional farmhouse feel has been preserved, from the vaulted wood beamed ceiling, to the cosy living room set around a wood burning stove. Head downstairs to find the three tranquil bedrooms with king size beds, and windows looking out over the beautiful valley. 

Set in 45 acres of private land, you’ll be totally ensconced in peace and privacy here. The land is a haven for wildlife: there are beehives and an orchard, and you’ll hear and see a wide range of birds, including owls, kites, herons, and woodpeckers. The house is in a Black Skies reserve, meaning there’s very little air and light pollution. Come evening, don your bathrobe and head out to the wood fired hot tub for some incredible stargazing. 

There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area. Follow one of the excellent hiking trails in the Brecon Beacons, taking you through the Black Mountains, or to wild swimming spots. Your hosts live in a barn conversion adjacent to the farmhouse, and are always happy to give tips and recommendations. The house is right on the River Grwyne Fawr and adjacent to a tiny Mediaeval Church, so you’ll be surrounded by beauty wherever you go. While this is an opportunity to unplug from the rest of the world, civilization isn’t too far away – the towns of Abergavenny and Crickhowell are 5 miles away, where you’ll find a range of local amenities.

Black Mountains Farmhouse

Set on a working farm between Monmouth and Abergavenny, this home promises a peaceful escape surrounded by nature. If you don’t feel like going too far, you’ll find a natural swimming pond and 100 acres of land to roam here, along with the Offa's Dyke Path. If that’s not enough, hikers can also enjoy the trails of the Black Mountains, in the southeast corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Of course, you may prefer to kick back and relax during your stay – if so, the wood-fired hot tub, rolltop bath, and wood burner are ready to take your vacation relaxation to the next level.
