The crenulated, columned Victorian face of this home is a far cry from a typical, rustic farmhouse. The interior is manor home in miniature with chesterfields around an original fireplace in the main living room, long darkwood dining tables by the bay window, and chandeliers lighting huge bedrooms. Each room retains an element of Victoriana. Attached to the farmhouse, the old cider shed is the kind of country-rustic you’d expect  – flagstone floors in the kitchen, timber beams exposed in eaves bedrooms and a wood-burning in the master suite. The real highlight is the wood-fired hot tub outside beneath the pergola. It looks out over the beautifully manicured gardens, bursting with lavender and colourful hydrangea. If you’re not dining in the grand room inside, head out to the Italian-style loggia where dining is set for the whole group beneath a wooden roof. You’re in the middle of the West Country’s farmland here, with walking trails on your doorstep. But the charming market town of Bridgewater is just a fifteen-minute drive away.  

Victoriana Farm

Step back in time in Bath with a stay at this elegant apartment that pays homage to the city's renowned Georgian architecture. With 18th-century touches still intact today, guests can enjoy sweeping ceilings and sash windows that look onto Great Pulteney Street, the longest and widest street in the city. Enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail on the private balcony after a day of exploring all of the fantastic city sights. With the Roman Baths, Thermae Spa, and the city centre all just a short walk away, this is a perfect base for those looking for a homely stay while discovering all that this historic city has to offer.

Perfect for a family, four-legged friends included, the fully-fenced garden offers somewhere to sit back and listen to the sound of nature – just keep an eye on children and dogs, as although the trout pond is fenced with gated access, you can never be too safe. Exploring locally, you can take to the trails through the forest where if you’re lucky, you may even spot some wild boar and deer.

With its idyllic walled garden and a luxury interior, this Grade II listed home is the perfect romantic retreat – just the ideal place to spend quality time with loved ones. Host Aisha has lovingly decorated this place with distinguished collectables and antiques, including the wonderful wardrobe in the master bedroom. Watch the sun set over the Somerset hills from the lush grounds – we love the stunning views from here. Later, relax in the hot tub or have a soak in the gorgeous slipper bath. When you're ready to venture out, the Georgian splendour of Bath is a twenty-minute drive away. Spend the day exploring the Royal Crescent, the Circus and the Roman Baths, as well as the many museums such as the Jane Austen Centre. Then unwind at the Thermae Bath Spa with its roof-top pool. For a more relaxed pace, there's a pub and café for lunch in Timsbury, around a five-minute stroll. Or put on your hiking boots and explore the glorious Somerset countryside.

The Parish Stone

Staying in this charming Cotswolds cottage can make you feel like you’re a character from a Jane Austen novel. Located in a wonderfully secluded part of Wiltshire and surrounded by sprawling fields and farm animals, this home is a rural sanctuary of calm. French doors merge the comfortable living room with the natural light and country air of the outdoors – it's the perfect spot for relaxing with a good book, playing games or rustling up a home-cooked meal while socialising with friends and family. Grab a glass of your favourite and sit out on the garden patio, which overlooks picturesque views of the verdant valley. In the mood for exploring? This location gives you easy access to countless walking trails, and when you’re not wandering the fields or following footpaths, there’s a host of traditional pubs and local restaurants to take your fancy. While you’re here, it’s worth visiting the nearby towns of Malmesbury and Tetbury – and check your calendar, maybe your stay overlaps with the famed Badmiton Horse Trials or Tetbury Woolsack Race. 

Penny-Farthing

Cosy countryside cottages don’t get much better than this. Tucked away in the Somerset countryside, this home is an absolute delight. It’s been recently renovated with wood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows, and it boasts a charming blend of contemporary and antique furniture. If you like the idea of escaping the city for a charm-filled cottage, but could do without dusty beams and draughty doors, this is the right home for you. 

The cottage is warm and welcoming, the perfect setting for a romantic escape. Curl up on the sofa and admire the lush garden as you sip Champagne. When the weather is fine, open up the glass doors to create a stunning indoor/outdoor space. Whip up meals in the kitchen to enjoy outside in the garden, or fire up the barbecue for a real alfresco treat – you might like to walk to the nearby farm shop for local goodies to cook. Soak up the sunshine outside and enjoy the countryside views. In the evening, get cosy around the fire pit before sinking into the oh-so-comfortable bed upstairs. 

You could happily spend your days here, playing board games, reading, and admiring the garden, but if you do want to explore further afield, you have plenty of choice. The East Mendip Way passes right by the cottage, so bring your hiking boots if you want to get a bit closer to the Great Outdoors. It takes thirty-two minutes to drive to Bath, where you can admire the Roman Baths and explore the galleries, museums and theatres – not to mention the excellent array of eateries. Or perhaps you’ll just pootle around the countryside, popping into charming villages – Mells and Bruton are close by – and country pubs whenever the fancy strikes? Soho House members will enjoy its proximity to Babington House. However you spend your time here, you’ll love having such a delightful place to call home.


Miss Honey's Cottage

One of the things that we like most about The Austen is the way that it has retained its sense of history. The building is over 250 years old, and the hosts have managed to keep many of the original features, including the wood panelling, fireplaces, and Georgian shutters. The home is also in the very centre of Bath. As in, less than five minutes on foot to the Roman baths themselves (and the same distance to the station, which while less glamorous, is also worth knowing). Even if it weren’t kept so well, it would be a good base for exploring the city, but as it is, staying here is simply a delight. 


The Austen

This charming lodge is a perfect fit for a family on a Somerset stay. Inside, this contemporary home has everything needed for a comfortable getaway – but the outdoor space is the cherry on the cake for us. With a private garden, alfresco dining opportunities and a hot tub, what’s not to love? And did we mention the countryside views over the Somerset levels and Glastonbury Tor? Peek past the owner’s animals – alpacas and miniature horses – and you can’t miss them. Locally, there’s fun for all the family with Puxton Adventure Park, Longleat Safari Park, and Cheddar Gorge, to name just a few of the must-visit attractions. 

Somerset Serenity

This beautiful home sits within the grounds of a historic stately manor. It’s between Herefordshire and Monmouthshire, so you’ll be perfectly positioned to explore the Brecon Beacons and the area’s delightful towns and villages. French doors open to the terrace and garden, where you can play croquet and admire the deer park just beyond the estate’s gardens. Inside, the wood-burning stove keeps things cosy. It's a stylish and tranquil home that’s been meticulously renovated. We love the elegant tiling in the en-suite bathrooms. 

The Summer Lodge

Standing tall in a Georgian neighbourhood, this Newport home is just as handsome on the inside as it is on the outside. There's a great range of colours used throughout, with several shades on the walls and furnishings lending character. The kitchen is large and well-equipped enough for a handful of sous-chefs to work under the watchful eye of the head cook, while there's even a garden that uses tiers to work with the sloping land available. We think they've done a smashing job with it and you'll appreciate it during the summer months. At the top of the street, there's a park with a lovely view of the city, the centre of which only takes fifteen minutes to reach on foot. A little further afield, there are attractions towards the mouth of the River Usk, including RSPB Newport Wetlands, a quarter of an hour's drive away.

Remain In Light

From the moment you see the grand stone exterior and cobbled courtyard, you’ll know that this ever-so-charming home is steeped in history. It's a former malthouse that’s over 300 years old and filled with traditional features. When you step into the entrance hall, you’re entering through the large oak door onto the original cart-way, and as you start trying to choose which bedroom you want to lay claim to, you’ll be winding your way up a turret stairway with rope bannisters, surrounded by wooden beams and original fireplaces. The interior has been fully renovated, with a modern handmade kitchen, squishy sofas, and cute-as-a-button bedrooms. Sip your afternoon tea perched on the sunny window seat with a good book in hand (there's an extensive collection to choose from), while gazing at the expansive green views of the playing fields and village church in the backdrop. Elsewhere, the large 14-seater pine dining table will be the perfect spot to savour a slow dinner with the entire group. Although in the garden you'll notice a patio, complete with outdoor furniture, that’s ideal for wine and cheese nights – there's a large lawn and a range of outdoor games available too (including table tennis) for hours of early evening fun. You don’t have to go far to continue the historical theme, as the pub next door is one of the oldest in the country and has been the resting place for many a monarch visiting the area since the 15th century. The surrounding county town, Frome, just a fifteen-minute drive away, was voted one of the best places to live in the UK - explore the rich history, shop at independent boutiques, buy fresh produce at the local market or dine at one of the many eateries dotted around nearby.

Malter’s Rest

What this cottage bungalow may lack in period charm, it more than makes up for in location. Tucked within the peaceful grounds of a Georgian Manor, you’re just a short stroll from Frome’s thriving high street. Private parking for two cars – a rarity in central Frome – makes arrivals easy, as does the nearby train station for day trips to nearby Bath. For downtime, a private suntrap garden and covered decking are prime for pre-dinner drinks, whatever the weather.
