When dinner calls, there are plenty of places to dine – the sunny orangery that opens out onto the terrace, the sunny cubby hole in the kitchen or in the long, formal dining room. The interiors are a little dated, but the home is well-kept, cosy and equipped with most of what you'll need for a comfortable stay – though you'll have to bring your own towels. With views and a central location, this home does well for itself, and the compact balcony is a nice bonus, especially for a nightcap.

Only a short distance from the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast, this charming cottage is the ideal destination for anyone looking to try windsurfing at Broad Haven, diving at Little Haven, or surfing in Newgales. But for those of us who feel a little more at ease on dry land, well, you can head to the Mayfield Golf Centre not even ten minutes away by car, or see the exquisite vistas of the area by walking along the coastal paths.

Enjoy a spot of shopping in Haverfordwest – a lovely twenty-five minute walk, or five minutes by car if you’re in a hurry – and sit down to enjoy lunch at one of the local pubs. There’s also a town museum if you’re interested in learning of the county's roots. 

After a long day on your feet you can retreat to this little stone cottage where you’ll be met by a neutral colour palette that benefits from the skylights in the vaulted ceiling. Some of the original features, especially visible in the facade, remain from its days as a traditional stone barn. Expect exposed brick and beam, modernised by the sleek kitchenette and cushy furnishishings. 

Drag out the board games for a night or friendly competition, or select one of the books in the little library to enjoy curled up on the sofa. The fireplace is a brilliant feature for cooler evenings and if you want to really elevate the cosiness, we encourage a big cup of cocoa. 

For a treat, prepare your own afternoon tea to take out into the garden. Sit down at the bistro table, admiring the roses and abundance of foliage as you sip tea and enjoy a Welsh cake or cucumber sandwich.

Even better than the vistas is the central location – it's just a three-minute stroll from the front door to the beach. Tenby is a historic town with plenty of seaside charm and sprawling beaches. And with an array of excellent eateries, independent boutiques, cosy coffee shops, trendy bars and charming pubs to discover within walking distance, you'll be well-placed for exploring.

Step back in time with a stay at this 17th-Century barn conversion, nestled in the Welsh countryside. From the stable doors to the wooden ceiling beams, this home is steeped in history and wears its traditional features with pride. You'll love cooking in the kitchen and serving up your culinary creations in the grand dining room, before retiring to the living room to get cosy beside the fire. Or, on warmer days, you might like to barbeque your meals outside and enjoy your freshly grilled dishes on the patio. Discover the beauty of the South Pembrokeshire from this stunning beachfront base, situated in the small seaside resort of Saundersfoot. More compact than nearby Tenby, which lies a few miles to the south, the place has a unique charm all of its own.

South-facing sea views grab all the headlines here, with large windows in the open layout living area/kitchen, plus direct access to a private balcony ensuring you can make the most of the unparalleled location. 

The interior decor is no less eye-catching, with mid-century style leather seating, a wood burner set into the wall, plus a subtle maritime theme, with hints of blue and wood cladding that reminded us of the side of a beach hut.

Sharing the open-plan space is the kitchen, with the sink set up so you can look out at the waves as you wash up the bits and pieces that won't fit in the dishwasher. Rather sensibly, the hob and oven face the opposite way, to minimise distractions. With dinner ready, it's down to you to plate up and grab a seat at the rustic yet elegant dining table.

Elsewhere, the two bedrooms keep up with the nods to the nautical setting, with striped wallpaper and sea-themed artwork adorning the walls.

In addition to the expansive beach, the old tramway route that connected the coal port to mines at Stepsaside survives as a spectacular section of the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It's 186 miles long in total, but we'd recommend dipping in and out to walk along particularly panoramic parts.

Those who prefer their outdoor activities more action-packed will find some of Pembrokeshire's finest surf spots within a twenty-mile drive. A particular standout is Freshwater West, which is hailed by many as the most reliable break in the land of dragons and daffodils.

Just outside the barn, you'll find your very own hot tub, perfect for soaking away your troubles in perfect peace. You'll find yet more tranquility in the shared grounds, with acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and wild meadows to explore. There's even a lake stocked with large fish, including trout and carp, which will delight keen fishers. This home is right on the edge of Pembrokeshire National Park, where you can hike, cycle or even horse-ride through the beautiful landscapes. The sea is just a ten-minute drive away too, so you can dip your toes in the water at Broad Haven Beach, or visit some of the quaint fishing villages dotted along the coast.

Offering spectacular views of South Beach all the way towards Caldey Island, this luxury apartment has an open-plan living area at its heart. Unwind in the large sitting area while the chef of the group enjoys plenty of counter space in the kitchen. Large French doors open up to the terrace where you can capture stunning panoramic coastal views while soaking in the luxurious hot tub. Each of the bedrooms also have doors that open onto the terrace overlooking the ocean and nearby golf course, where you can get a few swings in when you've clocked in more than enough beach time.

Just because you’re awake, however, doesn’t mean you have to get out of bed. After a Full English breakfast, make your way to the sandy beaches of this beautiful harbour town and spend the day sunbathing, watching the kids play in the salty surf, and trying every possible combination of soft serve. Explore the quaint shops and cafes surrounding this home and when exhaustion sets in, make your way back home with a takeaway box of fresh fish and chips that you can enjoy at the little breakfast bar.

In fact, we think the whole thing is rather smart, with a dark blue kitchen, luxe rainfall showers in the glossy bathrooms and even a wine fridge for your bottles of bubbly. When you're not at home soaking up the view or lounging on the sofa, spend your time wandering through Tenby's walled centre, admiring the colourful houses, browsing the local boutiques and dining at the many delicious eateries. And with five beaches to tickle your fancy, you'll have plenty of options when it comes to sprawling in the sand. Our favourite is Castle Beach, a five-minute walk away.

Back inside, it's possible to see the care and attention that have gone into the muted grey kitchen and the chic bathroom complete with a monochromatic tub. When it comes to filling your days, the town's North and South Beaches can both be reached in under a quarter of an hour on foot, while getting to the castle only takes slightly longer.
