About five minutes' walk from the Mumbles seafront, this cottage is exactly the sort of cosy place you'll look forward to returning to after a long day out in the open air.

If you're here during the warmer months, you can sit outside and watch the sky go through its daily transformation from the terrace, but if it's too cold to even think about doing that, you can hunker down next to the wood burner in the open-concept living area or luxuriate in the bathtub instead.

The design throughout is classy and uncomplicated, with smart wooden floors, wooden furnishings and chic tiling in both the kitchen and bathroom doing all the heavy lifting. Sometimes, you really don't need to go over the top with it.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, you can reach plenty of attractions on foot, including Oystermouth Castle four minutes away and Rotherslade Bay taking about a quarter of an hour. Even closer than both of those, there's a fish and chips shop at the end of the road, which is sure to come in handy when you're not in the mood to cook.

This wonderful apartment will have the whole family singing its praises after a stay. Located on the ground floor of a large Victorian house, it's the ideal place to call home during a stay on the Gower Peninsul, one of Wales' best-loved spots. 

The house retains much of its original character – you'll love the period fireplaces, patterned floor tiles, and huge bay window that frames the gorgeous sea views. On sunny days, you can head outside for a closer look and sip a cup of coffee on the patio while the kids explore the sprawling shared gardens. When you get hungry, you can whip up your favourite dishes in the kitchen to share around the handsome dining table. And, there's no better way to round off an evening than with a singsong around the baby grand piano, or a tune on the Victorian harmonium. 

From here, you can join the coastal path to wander down into the heart of The Mumbles and treat yourself to an ice cream on the beach. Make sure you pay a visit to the historic pier then sip a pint of local ale in one of the charming pubs. And, if you walk in the opposite direction, you'll find plenty of wonderful sandy coves, including Caswell Bay and Pwll Du Beach.

It’s in Mumbles, a seaside suburb with a Victorian pier, a long sweep of sandy beach and a medieval castle. We’re not exaggerating when we say the beach is mere footsteps away, just across the road. From here, you can follow the traffic-free walking path along the coast to Swansea, or to the wild headland in the other direction.

Returning to this cottage after a brisk seaside walk is a delight, especially with the electric fireplace glowing in the living room. You can watch the waves from the comfy sofa, thanks to the big sash window in the living room. There’s a dining table in here too, or you can opt for the more casual breakfast table in the full kitchen. Upstairs, the sea view continues in plush bedrooms and the loft landing is home to a bean-bag-strewn hang-out den. The piece de resistance is the private walled garden out the back with a cute wrought-iron dining set for an evening tipple in the sun.

Get way off the beaten track at this gorgeous former smugglers' cottage on the stunning Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). In fact, it's so off-grid that you'll be required to leave your car in a secure spot and decamp into your host's Land Rover for the final mile, setting off down a rutted path and fording a stream before pulling up outside – setting the tone for an adventurous stay in the Welsh Wilderness.

First appearing in local records around 1700, the original part of this cottage is thought to be considerably older. After all, it wouldn't have served as a store for illicit contraband if its existence was known to everyone. Over time, it's been restored to create a rustic retreat that's equipped with all the mod cons required for a comfortable stay, including underfloor heating, a rolltop bath and an inglenook fireplace.

Another standout feature of this home is the charming cottage garden to the rear. Relax and breathe in the sea air as you sit out and sip a cup of tea out on the wildflower-dotted lawn before helping yourself to some fresh eggs, courtesy of the obliging hens.

We can just picture the family dinners along the banquet-style table, adding an extra touch of magic to this gorgeous place. While the rest of the home is traditional, the kitchen is wonderfully modern and equipped with everything you could need. Even the most reluctant of chefs will be tempted by its pearly white surfaces and huge kitchen island. Even if you're not the one cooking, you'll love spending time in this social space – chatting, playing board games, and listening to music. 

This home also benefits from a delightful garden, with steps leading down to your own football pitch. Enjoy catching up on the outdoor sofas and sipping on wine while the kids entertain themselves for hours on the pitch or explore the vast gardens. When you want to get out and explore yourself, you're just a short drive from Gower and its cliffs, woodlands, walking trails, sparkling beaches, and more. There's so much we love about this stylish cabin – the attention to detail here is fantastic. First of all we have to mention the gorgeous copper roll-top bath, but the real highlight is the hot tub on the deck with its fabulous salt marsh and sea views. Enjoy the vistas at sunset with a glass of fizz or do a spot of stargazing (the sky around these parts is rated as class four on the Bortle Dark-Sky Scale, don't you know). You can also enjoy the landscape from inside, thanks to the three-stage bi-folding doors that let the outdoors into this cosy studio space.

This cosy cottage is located in the heart of Oxwich village, just a five-minute walk from the glorious beach and sand dunes of Oxwich Bay. Not only is it superbly located, but the home is lovely, from the whitewashed exterior, to the contemporary interior, to the spacious garden. 

We love the subtle coastal theme that runs through this home, creating a light, airy, and comfortable feel to the place. The modernity is balanced out by traditional touches, such as the cast iron log burner, the conservatory, and of course, the country house-style kitchen. It's a sociable space, opening up the floor to chats, board games, drinks, and so on. The conservatory leads you out to the idyllic garden – we can just picture the lovely the breakfasts spreads out in the fresh morning air, sipping on cups of tea while planning the day ahead.

When you've returned home after exploring Oxwich and the wider Gower Peninsula, you'll love relaxing on the plush sofa in front of the fireplace, a well-deserved glass of wine in hand. You could whip up dinner in the kitchen to be enjoyed around the country house-style dining table, or if you don't fancy cooking, make a reservation at the village's Michelin star restaurant for a special treat. You're on holiday, after all.

This romantic studio cabin is situated in the hamlet of Landimore on the north coast of the Gower. Where do we start with this enormous home in the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? With enough beds to sleep a large group of friends or an extended family, it's truly somewhere special. The manor house dates back to the 1600s and is elegant and traditional in style, with a large drawing room and a dining space that's big enough for everyone to eat together. There are also plenty of extras that truly give this home the 'wow' factor – you'll love the indoor heated pool, sauna and children's lounge with a pool table and pinball. There's also softball tennis and a skittle alley in the barn, not to mention the indoor balcony with ping-pong and shuffleboard. Outside, you'll find a twelve green pitch-and-put course, along with a field next door for picnics and rambling – there's absolutely no chance of being bored here. Plus, it's a fifteen-minute walk from your front door down to Great Tor Bay, where you can dip your toes in the sea or take a bracing walk along the sand – whatever the weather, you're guaranteed to have a smile on your face.

Wales is a part of the UK often overlooked in favour of popular tourist spots including Devon and Cornwall, but there's so much natural beauty to discover in this country. The Gower Penisula is a particularly stand-out destination, and this home sits amongst it like a gem of nature. Clean and modern, but with a nod to a traditional seaside holiday, this home is proudly placed on the edge of an incredible stretch of Welsh coastline. Within a five-minute walk, you can have your feet on the sand of Slade Bay – a tucked-away gem in South Wales. Spend afternoons bonding with the family here splashing around in the sea and playing games on the beach.

While the close proximity of this beach is an asset you'll be spending a lot of time utilising, Gower is a beautiful area to head out and explore. There are various lovely villages here including Rhossili, along with wonderful opportunities to connect with nature. We recommend paying a visit to Gower Pick Your Own to pick fresh strawberries and raspberries. It's a great activity for the whole family and the fruit is incredibly good. You can drive here within fifteen-minutes. After your adventures in Gower's sleepy countryside, head back home and get the fire roaring for a nice cosy evening in the lounge with a mug of hot chocolate in hand.

A stone’s throw from the award-winning Port Eynon beach, this traditional, white cottage sits in the centre of the charming village. Apart from the Blue Flag beach on your doorstep, you’ve also got the Gower Peninsula’s oldest pub just around the corner. Along the coast from Port Eynon Beach, pet-friendly Horton Beach is the perfect spot for a dog walk and a walking trail from here leads over the clifftops to Oxwich Bay.

Our favourite thing about this delightful cottage has to be the garden. Bursting with flowers and shrubs, it’s a little haven from the otherwise rugged seaside landscape. Out here, you can sit in the shade of the pergola with a good book or take your morning coffee on the patio. 

Two sitting rooms inside are equally cosy-warm, thanks to wood-burning stoves (your host provides a bundle of logs). The kitchen, with its range-style cooker and Belfast ceramic sink, is a picture of farmhouse charm. Then there’s the leather sleigh bed in the master bedroom for a spot of luxury come nightfall.

Perched on the edge of the river Clydach and surrounded by trees, this little cottage makes the perfect setting to experience the idyllic beauty of South Wales. 

Formerly a farmer’s building used for animals on the Plas Cilybebyll estate, the owners have thoughtfully transformed this space into a private sanctuary. And stepping inside, you’ll find a home that celebrates its origins whilst bringing ease and comfort to your stay. From the traditional Welsh craftsmanship to the local art and personal touches, every detail inspires a wonderful sense of welcome. So whether you’re listening to the sound of the water on the patio, enjoying a meal under the trees or relaxing with a long soak in the bath, you’ll find this home provides a constant sense of serenity.  

Days can be spent admiring the local wildlife, observing ancient plant fossils and hiking across this majestic landscape – there’s a farm trail leading directly from the house. You’ll also find the nearest supermarket, pubs and cafes are just minutes away.

You'll even find an arrow slit in the lounge and another in the ground floor wet room wall.

Cleverly converted and architect designed, this home uses green energy and is insulated with sheep's wool. It's a surprisingly modern and comfortable home for a small family or a couple of friends here to make the most of its idyllic rural setting. By day, explore the farm thanks to a trail that starts at your door, visiting cattle and spotting wildlife as you go. If you're a keen cyclist, you're within striking distance of the Afan Forest and Bike Park Wales, with safe storage for your equipment.

Just an eight-minute drive from the town of Pontardawe and less than half an hour from Swansea, you'll feel as though this fairytale setting is tucked well away from the rest of the world.

And, if you fancy a day at the seaside, you can drive to the Gower Peninsula in forty minutes to discover hidden beaches.
