Just take a look at the Acropolis views from this apartment's balcony and you'll see why it caught our attention. There are also vistas from inside, and there's access to the balcony from one of the bedrooms – name a better way to wake up each morning. The kitchen is galley style, relatively compact and somewhat dated, but it has everything you need. As soon as we saw this home, we could tell that the host is an architect – it's a design lover's dream. Spread across a two-bedroom penthouse and a ground-floor studio, there's plenty of space here to get comfortable. A couple of balconies boast cityscape outlooks on one side and sunset views on the other, while the roof terrace is perfect for cocktails. We love the vistas that stretch from the Acropolis to the hills of Athens. Inside, expect double-height ceilings, concrete finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows, and lots of tropical plants and orchids. Those wanting an extra slice of privacy will enjoy the studio's third bedroom and a small kitchenette.

They are fantastic any time of day, but we particularly love the vistas at sunset and then as dark approaches when Greece's most famous monument is all lit up. It’s a divine spot for a glass of wine.

If the weather turns chilly, head inside and gather around the fire or whip up a Greek meze in the modern kitchen. We could tell when we visited that this home has undergone a thoughtful renovation by your hosts.

There’s plenty of room for the group to spread out on bean-bag chairs too. 

Inside, a soothing medley of crisp white and slate grey keeps things feeling modern and sunny. We love the tropical feature wall in the living room which adds a pop of colour and vibrance. The compact kitchen with pretty emerald tiles has all the essentials for self-catering and there’s a second outdoor space for dinners on the balcony. That’s if you’re not too busy exploring the meze restaurants of the Plaka, a five-minute walk away. But the real highlight of this apartment is how close it is to the Acropolis, just four minutes on foot to the entrance.
