The apartment comprises two connecting suites featuring separate living rooms, kitchens and dining spaces, so it’s great for guests wanting privacy. As soon as we saw this home, we could tell that the host is an architect – it's a design lover's dream. Spread across a two-bedroom penthouse and a ground-floor studio, there's plenty of space here to get comfortable. A couple of balconies boast cityscape outlooks on one side and sunset views on the other, while the roof terrace is perfect for cocktails. We love the vistas that stretch from the Acropolis to the hills of Athens. Inside, expect double-height ceilings, concrete finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows, and lots of tropical plants and orchids. Those wanting an extra slice of privacy will enjoy the studio's third bedroom and a small kitchenette.

Located in Gazi, a pedestrian cobblestone path starts just around the corner from this home and leads all the way to the old neighbourhood of Plaka, which sits below the Acropolis. Wow, wow, wow was all we could say when we saw the incredible views of the Acropolis from both this home's living space and terrace. They are fantastic any time of day, but we particularly love the vistas at sunset and then as dark approaches when Greece's most famous monument is all lit up. It’s a divine spot for a glass of wine.

If the weather turns chilly, head inside and gather around the fire or whip up a Greek meze in the modern kitchen. We could tell when we visited that this home has undergone a thoughtful renovation by your hosts.

Located in Plaka, there are plenty of tavernas, bars and shops nearby to enjoy. Or visit the Acropolis Museum, around a fifteen-minute walk away.

This home is all about the location – from the communal rooftop terrace, shared with two other apartments, you can gaze at the Acropolis. You can walk to most city attractions from here, and the pad will suit both those travelling for business and pleasure. The decor is corporate and minimalist here so those on the lookout for something cosy may prefer another option. Bear in mind that the living area will get a bit crowded at full occupancy – we recommend this home for a smaller group or a family. 

The Phoenix

Sitting across from the Acropolis Museum, this apartment is a great fit for those looking to discover the ancient wonders of Athens. Just a two-minute walk from the Acropolis itself, with plenty of restaurants and bars on your doorstep, this location is hard to beat. If you're in town for work, there's a desk in the bedroom for catching up. While at full occupancy it may be a bit of a squeeze, the double sofa bed is also an added bonus. Plus, you've got a private balcony to enjoy – although there's no seating, we still think it's a lovely space to perch with a Greek coffee.

It’s the outside space that really takes the biscuit here – the terrace is shaded by the heat by pristine white awnings and there’s plenty of room on the rattan armchairs for drinks outside. Soak in the bubbling Jacuzzi at the end of a day exploring the ancient sites of Athens. 

Speaking of which, the old-world charm of the Plaka neighbourhood is just a fifteen-minute walk away where narrow cobbled alleyways are home to funky bars and rustic restaurants. The Acropolis is a further five minutes away, the crowning glory of Athens’ ancient history.

Take a look at the pillars of Hadrian’s library then wander over to pick up souvlaki for lunch.
