As soon as we saw this home, we could tell that the host is an architect – it's a design lover's dream. Spread across a two-bedroom penthouse and a ground-floor studio, there's plenty of space here to get comfortable. A couple of balconies boast cityscape outlooks on one side and sunset views on the other, while the roof terrace is perfect for cocktails. We love the vistas that stretch from the Acropolis to the hills of Athens. Inside, expect double-height ceilings, concrete finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows, and lots of tropical plants and orchids. Those wanting an extra slice of privacy will enjoy the studio's third bedroom and a small kitchenette.

Located in Gazi, a pedestrian cobblestone path starts just around the corner from this home and leads all the way to the old neighbourhood of Plaka, which sits below the Acropolis. This two-bedroom penthouse offers stunning views of Athens. Landmarks like the Acropolis, Mount Lycabettus, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus are visible from the private balcony, which has space to sit out with a drink and enjoy wonderful sunset views. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms separated by glass walls, so you'll find privacy somewhat limited. But the main bedroom suite boasts a private living room and a marble Jacuzzi tub. As this home is in a hotel building there are plenty of amenities and extra services, from a private chef to a communal gym and roof garden.

This apartment in the centre of Athens feels like a rare gem. It’s not often we find a one-bedroom apartment, this central, with a big terrace and its own Jacuzzi. The apartment itself is a vibrant medley of modern artworks and slate-grey furnishings. In monochrome style, the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering. It’s the outside space that really takes the biscuit here – the terrace is shaded by the heat by pristine white awnings and there’s plenty of room on the rattan armchairs for drinks outside. Soak in the bubbling Jacuzzi at the end of a day exploring the ancient sites of Athens. 

Speaking of which, the old-world charm of the Plaka neighbourhood is just a fifteen-minute walk away where narrow cobbled alleyways are home to funky bars and rustic restaurants. The Acropolis is a further five minutes away, the crowning glory of Athens’ ancient history.

Wow, wow, wow was all we could say when we saw the incredible views of the Acropolis from both this home's living space and terrace. They are fantastic any time of day, but we particularly love the vistas at sunset and then as dark approaches when Greece's most famous monument is all lit up. It’s a divine spot for a glass of wine.

If the weather turns chilly, head inside and gather around the fire or whip up a Greek meze in the modern kitchen. We could tell when we visited that this home has undergone a thoughtful renovation by your hosts.
