The decor, inspired by ancient Greek myths, might not be to everyone's taste, but the home has plenty of space and is comfortable. Private pool, alfresco dining area, and sun-kissed terraces – this home truly has it all. More than that, you're only a five-minute walk from the sandy beach of Agios Onoufrios, so you can drop your bags and head down the hill to bask in the sun. Chania is also a short drive away.

Bright Blue Horizon

Listen to the gentle sound of the waves at this detached, luxurious home with its minimalist architecture. This place has been designed by a sea lover and you can tell. We adore the vistas overlooking the bay of Chania – this villa is frontline meaning it's totally private. 

If you tire of swimming in the gorgeous infinity pool (unlikely we know) there’s a private path down to the rocky coastline. There’s a lawn at the back too offering some shade and a bit of respite from the Crete sun or dine under the pergola. As the light fades, enjoy the most romantic of sunsets as you sip a glass of raki from the welcome hamper provided by your lovely hosts. Later, relax in one of the bedrooms – the sea views from every room are divine, or unwind in one of the wellness showers.

Out and about it’s a few hundred metres to the picturesque Tersanas Beach, while the pretty old Venetian port of Chania is just twenty minutes in the car. This home and location is just perfect.


Rendezvous at Sunset

If sleek, modern and convenient are all words that appeal to you, this home just outside Chania will be right up your street. Here you'll be just 150m from the popular beach of Kalamaki, and an easy drive from the main town – with local buses running every twenty minutes, until late at night. One of a pair of twin villas, it's a contemporary space perfect for a family. It even comes with a children's playroom and a fitness room.

The outside space is the star of the show here, and your crystal clear private pool takes up the majority of your garden, with a glass safety barrier to two sides. There's a lawn with sun loungers, a covered dining terrace for long, lazy meals outside and private balconies to the top floor bedrooms to make the most of the far-reaching views.

Inside, it's all about easy living, with modern, neutral tones and comfy furnishings. There's a practical kitchen with everything you'll need for cooking at home but a choice of restaurants and shops can be found a short stroll away. And at the end of the day, a luxurious bathtub with hydro-massage awaits in the stylish master suite.

And if you have the energy, you can encourage the gang to explore the area the next morning. It's a great starting point for hiking routes or road adventures, with exciting beaches, mountain villages and ancient monuments to see.
 

Halva & Honey

This villa is one of six, tucked away amongst the picturesque landscape of Crete's Chania. Spread over three floors, you'll have a private pool, space for alfresco dining, and balconies boasting gorgeous views. For staying active, a large tennis court is shared between the six villas. Daily housekeeping and weekly linen changes ensure you can focus on relaxing and making memories, and your host can provide a free cot to make travelling with little ones a breeze. We recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay, with the beaches and historical attractions of Chania just a short drive from your doorstep.

Majestic Views

Just outside the city of Chania among the hilly green landscape, this magnificent villa showcases the very best of contemporary architecture. A striking structure made with steel, wood and glass, this home spans five semi-levels, creating plenty of cosy spots where you can enjoy some privacy as well as quality time with friends. Outside, the garden boasts towering palm trees and lush lawns, plus an almond-shaped pool that offers beautiful sea views. Begin the day with a cup of coffee in the shade after a dip in the refreshing water before you head out to see what Chania has to offer.

If you fancy some sea and sand, you're in the right place, as the area is home to some of Crete's best beaches. Agii Apostoli is close by, where you can lie on the golden shores and swim in the azure Mediterranean Sea. The old town is also well worth a visit – the narrow alleyways and cobbled streets lined with bougainvillea are a sight to behold.

When you get home, fire up the barbecue that sits beneath the ancient olive tree and have a go at creating some local delicacies, or sit back and relax while a private chef serves up some authentic Greek cuisine. The dining terrace is an idyllic place to enjoy alfresco family meals, washed down with a chilled bottle of wine. Round off a lovely evening with long soak in the Jacuzzi bath, or a few games of pool, or simply get comfy on the balcony to watch the sun set over the town and surrounding mountains.

This complex of two modern villas, each with four double bedrooms, is a great solution for large families or groups of friends travelling together and wanting to stay in close proximity while also enjoying their privacy. Just a stroll away from the famous Agia Marina Beach, the homes boast sweeping views over the coast and the surrounding countryside – you’ll be able to marvel at them from the generous outdoor areas, which include swimming pools with plenty of sun loungers and day beds, as well as alfresco dining spaces, perfect for communal barbecue dinners and sunset drinks. The interiors are sleek and minimalist, with more than ample room for everyone in the party to be able to find a cosy nook. 


Acropolis & Aegean

Make the most of Kalamaki, Crete, in this gorgeous three-storey villa. Detached from the surrounding houses, you won't need to worry about any noisy next-door neighbours or main roads. Ground-floor bedrooms make this home accessible, and the private pool, fitness room, and spa elevate it to luxury. Daily housekeeping and concierge services mean not lifting a finger during your stay, and there's plenty of lounging space indoors and out. Kalamaki beach is a breezy stroll away, though you'll want a car if you're planning a day trip to Chania or Rethymno.

Spun Glass Lagoon

Surrounded by verdant olive groves and offering far-reaching views of Souda Bay, this stunning Akrotiri villa offers the perfect peninsular getaway for anyone looking for peace and tranquillity in the Cretan countryside.

Both the ground and first floors are equipped with a couple of bedrooms, an independent seating area and a separate kitchen, making this home perfectly set up for two families to enjoy spending time with one another while retaining some privacy.

With that said, the open-plan first floor benefits from its elevated position, offering the best views on the property courtesy of large picture windows, plus access to a west-facing balcony where you're welcome to spend your evenings with a chilled glass in hand as the sun sinks over the sea.

Spend relaxing days laid out on loungers by the pool beneath cloudless skies, only rising for refills and cooling dips in the water. A second shallow pool ensures even the youngest members of the group are able to enjoy a paddle. Elsewhere, a pergola provides welcome shade for midday meals, while the brick barbecue is capable of turning out some wonderfully fragrant food. 

Nearby, the crystal-clear lagoon of Stavros beach is popular with locals and visitors alike due to its links to 'Zorba the Greek', and only a few minutes' drive. Alternatively, the sandy stretch of Marathi is 15km away.

If you fancy exploring Crete's charms, you'd best start with the beautifully preserved Venetian port town of Chania, twenty-five minutes away. Feel free to wander the winding alleyways and backstreets of the old town before emerging by the water for a drink, a bite to eat and some people-watching.

Bring Me the Horizon

Located on the Akrotiri Peninsula, this wonderful villa offers a slightly different option for large groups travelling together that want the option of privacy. It looks like one property from the outside, but each floor is a separate apartment in itself, each with a lounge, fireplace, kitchen and dining area. The upper storey has a balcony, but the lower level has direct access to the garden.

We don't like to pick favourites, but we'd probably plump for the ground floor, purely for the reason that it would get us to the home's wonderful exterior that little bit quicker. Out here, you'll find a long saltwater swimming pool, a covered barbecue area and a dining area underneath a pergola where you can enjoy the fruits of your labour. All of this is set in a pleasant plot populated by olive trees, aromatic herbs and Mediterranean flowers.

Another perk is that there are beaches in pretty much every direction you head in, with the closest — Agios Ounoufrios — only ten minutes' walk away. Chania Town only takes a quarter of an hour to reach in the car, as well.


Mediterranean Diet

Live off the land when you stay at this gorgeous home on a verdant three-acre farm in Crete. There are vines laden with grapes, as well as vegetables and avocados, quince, pomegranate, bananas and apricot trees – so it's easy to get your five a day here. 

There are plenty of herbs such as lavender, thyme and marjoram to flavour your cooking or G&Ts too. In the modern kitchen, when you arrive, you'll find some homemade wine and honey from your lovely host's own beehives, as well as a fruit basket.

Spend idyllic days sat by the pool, taking in the hillside views, then enjoy a lunch of fresh produce on the terrace. Inside, crisp white, greys and moss greens create a fresh vibe. We love the high vaulted ceilings, as well as the countryside vistas from the windows.

When you want to explore the area, there are a range of attractions nearby. Limnoupolis, a water park, is two miles away, while the Botanical Park of Crete is just over three miles. The old Venetian port of Chania, on the other hand, is just over five miles from this home. If you prefer to relax by the sea, then Stalos Beach is about five minutes in the car. Or, it's a ten-minute stroll to the pretty Agia Lake.


The Food Of Love

Just 900 metres from Agia Marina beach, this minimalist home provides the ideal setting for a refreshing coastal escape. It’s also just a short drive from the picturesque streets of Chania, making it easy to connect with the island’s vibrant spirit. And when you’re in search of total relaxation, make your way back to the private swimming pool and terrace – a simple, yet sweet spot for sunset drinks. Plus, you’ll also find each of the rooms has its own balcony offering beautiful views across the sea. 

Build Your Dreams

If the sense of grandeur and opulence inside this villa doesn’t pull you in, then perhaps its location, a ten-minute walk from the secluded sandy bay at Agios Onoufrios Beach will. The centre of resort town Kounoupidiana is a three-minute drive, or twenty-minute walk, where you’ll find shops to stock up on groceries and restaurants aplenty. If you feel like heading into the charming town of Chania to explore its Venetian port, it’s a twenty-minute drive away.

Marble pillars and a midnight-blue tufted sofa create a sense of opulence inside, alongside sparkling, tiered chandeliers and polished marble floors. This place is like your own private palace, with golden accents and Grecian urns throughout. Bedrooms are lavish retreats with gilded frames around flatscreen TVs and marble-clad bathrooms. None are more indulgent than the family bathroom with its marble pillars in black and gold and a sunken bathtub for soaking with something bubbly.

The palatial theme continues outside, where balustraded terraces and balconies look out over the pristine swimming pool. Soak the day away in the integrated hot tub, or bag a lounger in the sun. The alfresco dining area beneath a wooden ceiling is a little more down-to-earth and rustic, but a full outdoor kitchen provides another level of extravagance.
