Inside certainly doesn't possess the same wow factor – in fairness, it's hard to beat those postcard-worthy panoramas – but we think the fuss-free space will do the job for a family or a small group of friends seeking a relaxing retreat. The perfect home for relaxing and recovering, why not take so time to lounge in the Greek sunshine and enjoy the warmth of its rays on your skin. Then, slip into the cooling waters of the freshwater swimming pool, and enjoy the stunning views while you float leisurely in the pool. 

Just a six-minute drive to Otzias, you can enjoy the sandy beaches and soothing sound of waves lapping at the shore, or dine in one of the local Tavernas. The village of Vourkari – just an eight-minute drive away – provides an opportunity for not only beach days but also scuba diving experiences. 

Coressia, the island’s port, is just a twelve-minute drive away, while the capital Ioulis is a twenty-five-minute drive away. In Ioulis you will be able to visit the archaeological museum and even see the Lion of Kea – an impressive early Greek stone monument that dates back to the Archaic period. 

What’s more, there is a regular ferry connection between Athens and Kea which takes about an hour, taking you to the Lavrion port. From here, you can drive about fifty-six minutes to Greece’s capital and explore everything Athens has to offer. 

After all your exploring, return home to the villa in the evening and cook some delicious souvlaki on the barbecue before dining alfresco as you enjoy the sun setting over the vista.

It’s up in the hills, just outside of Kea’s capital town Ioulis so you can reach the supermarket and charming restaurants in less than ten minutes on foot. Up here, you’ve got a great view, taking in the rolling hills of Kea, topped with ancient white chapels, all the way to the sea. The group can spread out across two villas, each with its own kitchen, breezy living room and dining areas and come together in the outside space.

Step through an archway of silver-sheened olive trees and vine leaves to reach this peaceful home on the unspoiled island of Kea. Perched above the Panagia Kastriani Monastery, the five-bedroom villa enjoys exquisite views of the ancient structure and the hazy sea beyond.

You'll feel the revitalising embrace of this home as soon as you enter – the calming palette of off-white and sage green compliments rather than competes with the beautiful surroundings. Characterful furniture sets the space apart (we're looking at the artist's easel, in particular), while painted wooden beams nod to traditional Grecian homes.

The island's main town, Ioulida, is a short drive away. Here, you'll find a sprinkle of colourful buildings clustered on the side of a hill. Make sure you visit the Lion of Kea, an archaic sculpture that's shrouded in mystery. The smiling animal is thought to make reference to Kea's mythology, but its exact meaning and creator remain unknown.

Perched on the hillside on the island of Kea, this villa’s remote location and panoramic sea view instantly caught our eye. Located up a dirt road, the local stone villa blends in with the rugged surrounds – ideal for those seeking some privacy. Curated with outdoor living in mind, you’ll be able to relax in the hot sun with the infinity pool, terrace and an outdoor dining area with barbecue for evening meals. Just a short walk and you’ll find the sandy beach of Xyla. A ten-minute drive from the port, you can catch one of the ferries to Athen’s and explore further afield. 

Into The Aegean 

With its honey-coloured exterior and stunning views of Cape Sounion, this villa in the heart of Kea is an excellent spot to recharge. The sun-dappled terrace calls for refreshing swims in the private pool, alfresco dinners prepared on the barbecue and lazy catnaps on the lounge chairs. You can play basketball on the court if you're feeling active or page through a book underneath the shade of the oak tree when you're in the mood to unwind. Come evening, head up to the balcony with a glass of wine and drink in the picture-perfect sunsets over the water – you won't be able to look away.

Inside, you'll find a bright, well-arranged living area perfect for relaxing. We love how colourful it is – picture rainbow-hued chairs around the dining table, bold artwork and illustrations on the white-washed walls and traditional blue pottery arranged on every surface. The kitchen is fit for rustling up tasty meals, the office is perfect for working from home and three bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms ensure that everyone will have their own space.

When you fancy a day out, Ioulis (the island's capital) is just 2km away. Or for a day at the beach, it's a ten to fifteen-minute drive.

If a panoramic view of the ocean is what you’re after for a summer vacation, then this villa on the small, Greek island of Kea is probably the ideal spot for you. The home itself has been finished with a luxurious touch and although modern, definitely pays homage to the Cycladic design Greece is known for. Split across three levels, you’ll continuously discover another nook to claim as your own as you unwind in whatever way you see fit. We recommend afternoon naps with balcony doors and window agape, reading curled up on the sofa, putting together a meze platter in the generous kitchen, or making full use of the gym and spa area to burn off excess energy and rejuvenate. With the sunken jacuzzi situated right under a skylight, we recommend tipping your head back in the glow of the sun as you unwind with the jets turned on. 

Outside, where the real magic happens, we recommend long lazy days spent sunbathing on the floating beds. Honour Oceanus, the Titan of old, with a dip in the cool waters, and gaze out over the impressive view. Nap in the hammocks, sink into the beanbags, and when lunchtime rolls around, fire up the grill for a feast. Dine alfresco and take full advantage of the very unique sunken seating area right in the pool – enjoy a glass of wine from there as you dip a hand into the water next to you.

Ode to Oceanus

Just outside Vourkari – and boasting views of its quaint fishing harbour – this villa is perfectly situated on the coast of Kea. Less than five minutes on foot is a local restaurant, while cafes, bars, and other amenities are reachable in ten. Of course, with a summer kitchen, alfresco dining area, and Aegean panoramas to feast on back home, family meals are sure to be a memorable affair. Inside, traditional charm is front-and-centre. We think there's plenty of room for the whole group to spread out, especially in the lower-level bedrooms – they have small sitting areas, en-suites and tiny kitchenettes. Factor in the private pool and sea-facing terrace, and it's no wonder this home struck a chord.
