Tucked away in a quiet spot in the north of the island of Paros, this gorgeous family-friendly villa entices guests with views across the glistening waters of the Aegean, towards the nearby islands of Naxos and Filidi. 

The interior design is minimalist, with white walls and furnishings in an array of neutral tones to create a laid-back atmosphere. The ground floor offers some separation between the spaces through its use of pillars and arches, but the overall feeling is one of space and flow. 

Bedrooms are decorated in a similarly pared-back palette, helping to create four soothing sanctuaries in which to unwind at the end of a day spent exploring or simply lying by the pool. 

Outdoors, a poolside terrace blends in with its surroundings, with a pergola for alfresco meals morning, noon and night, plus plenty of sun loungers where you can soak up some rays in between refreshing dips in the pool.

The scent of lavender and oleander is in the air around this charming, rustic-style villa on Paros. Within the Santa Maria area, the island’s most kid-friendly beach (Santa Maria Beach) is just a short stroll away, so you can spend the day making castles in the bone-white sand, paddling in the calm crystal shallows or lounging the day away on lounger shaded by palm-front umbrellas. There’s a lively taverna here too.

The beach is popular and can get crowded in peak season, so it’s a delight to return to this villa’s quiet garden filled with wild herbs and fruit trees. Forage for rosemary and thyme to flavour fresh fish on the barbecue. The covered terrace is set up for group dining. Inside, the farmhouse-style living area is open-plan and we love the vintage-style pink fridge with plenty of room to cool bottles of bubbly. A little collection of books has you covered for beach reads and there’s a desk in the hallway for those that need to catch up on work. Waking in the main bedroom, sunlight filters through sheer white curtains – so much better than the alarm for work.

That's if you can peel yourself away from the abundance of natural beauty and luxurious amenities found at the villa. Perfect for a family or group of friends, enjoy your slice of privacy without being too far away from the sights and attractions of Paros. The standout area of the villa (in our view) has to be the expansive rooftop terrace boasting vistas over the sparkling seascape. From up there, there is no better spot to enjoy the sunrise and sunset each day. You'll also find sun loungers and a shaded seating area – perfect for a mid-afternoon coffee on the comfortable patio sofas. 

Cool off with a dip in the plunge pool in the lower garden area before preparing a home-cooked dinner on the barbecue to be served at the alfresco dining area with direct views of the sea. 

In keeping with the Grecian surroundings, the interior designs reflect the blissful location just as beautifully. We particularly love the swing sofas found in the indoor living room – the laid-back vibe and bohemian aesthetic create an inviting space that makes it easy to unplug and unwind when staying here.

Tsoukalakia beach is 2 kilometres away, and Ambelas beach is a short drive. The villa boasts its own private pool and a lovely terrace with views. There’s a shaded dining area and a barbecue, ideal for those lazy days in the sunshine.

It’s been the holiday home of the same family for years, so when the children – now working as an architect and a furniture designer in Paris – had the chance to restore it, they jumped at the opportunity. The love that went into the renovation is evident in the carefully considered touches, and in the outstanding finishes. There’s a real focus on honouring local materials and styles, but with a contemporary vibe – the home is breath-taking. 

If you’re anything like us, you’ll start and end your days on the rooftop terrace, taking in the glorious view of Naousa Bay. The home is surrounded by Mediterranean gardens, making the outside space a haven of relaxation. The salt water pool is oh-so-tempting when the temperature is climbing, and in the evenings it’s an utter delight to grill up fresh fish on the barbecue and dine alfresco. You could also hire a private chef to cook for you and your guests – a celebratory feast of meze is always a hit. 

The lovely Piperi beach is an eleven-minute walk away, and closer still is Anargyroi beach just nine minutes away, where luxury hotel Cosme has just opened with wellness spa facilities. After soaking up the sun and swimming in the sea, you might like to head into the old town of Naousa for pre-dinner cocktails by the water, just five minutes from the home on foot.

Back at the villa, revel in the privacy of the patios off each of the bedrooms. Enjoy a glass of wine as you spot constellations before slipping into bed for a luxurious night’s sleep.

If you’re looking for tranquillity and space – this villa offers all that and more. We love the sea and mountain views from the private pool and roof terrace, as well as the spacious garden surrounded by idyllic countryside and olive groves. One thing to note – the villa’s accommodation is split between the main house and an apartment and guest house, so it's ideal for large families and friends. Out and about, there are gorgeous wineries and beaches to explore, including Aspros Gremos, a short drive away.

This charming Cycladic villa overlooking the Aegean Sea is a real gem. With blue views across the Aegean Sea, you'll need to pinch yourself each time you step outside – though, with many picture-frame windows, you’ll have panoramic vistas on hand from inside, too.

The crisp and minimalist interiors evoke a sense of calm and achieve that balance of being understated and inviting. Though we hope work isn’t on the agenda, there’s a slick desk with a sea view here – a pretty good perk when replying to emails. Glass doors open out to a sprawling terrace where a pool offers a refreshing respite when the Paros sun is at its midday peak. Share sun-soaked breakfasts of fresh fruit and local cheese at the outdoor dining table before finding a shady and secluded spot to turn the pages of your new book. Leisurely afternoons are best spent stretched out on the stone terrace, soaking up the sun. Come evening, gather around the outdoor dining area for a delicious dinner prepared with local ingredients. As evening rolls around, sip a crisp glass of Savatiano from the terrace and watch the sun fall beneath the horizon.

If you can pull yourself away, post up on the sculpted rocks of Damuli Beach, a few steps away. The stunning fishing village, Naousa, is worth the short drive – we suggest you peruse the picturesque boutiques and visit the ancient Venetian castle.

Under the Ripples

Perched on a hilltop within walking distance of Agios Prokopios Beach and a short car ride from Naxos, this room offers a restful stay for a couple or solo traveller. There’s no kitchen here, so you’ll need to head out at mealtimes. Fortunately, there are plenty of tavernas within driving distance of your doorstep. Our favourite feature was the terrace – we couldn’t get enough of the private pool, especially after a nap on the loungers.
