In the hilly landscape of northern Crete, this charming villa sits within the quaint Greek village of Agia Triada. Surrounded by olive groves, sandy beaches and historic local sites, there's much to uncover during a stay at this home.

The Old Town, known for its Venetian fortress and harbour, is a must-visit if you're looking to soak up as much culture as possible. Take a stroll through the colourful narrow streets or stop by one of the waterfront restaurants for lunch with a view. There's something for nature lovers, too – the southern beaches of Rethymno are within easy distance. If you only visit one, let it be Preveli – the transparent blue waters and forested river running into the ocean is a sight to behold.

After a packed day of exploring all that Crete has to offer, take a dip in the private pool followed by a refreshing outdoor shower. As evening falls, get the ping pong table out and bond with the family over a few friendly matches. Rethymnon is one of Crete’s best preserved medieval towns. With its Folk Art Museum, Archaeological Museum, and historic monasteries and mosques, you’ll be glad to know this villa is a twelve-minute drive from the town centre. Or you might also be looking for golden beaches and Mediterranean waters – but that shouldn’t be a problem with a private beach just fifty metres from home.

This modern villa is a far cry from its ancient surroundings, designed with luxury in mind for the whole family. Upon arrival, your host offers a generous welcome basket of wine and fruit –  pour a glass to sip as you explore the home and grounds. White, wood, and marble dominate elegant, minimalist interiors. But for the little ones, the outdoor area will be the first port of call. The heated pool, swings, slide, and trampoline are sure to keep them busy.

You’ll also be able to live out some culinary experiences. The organic vegetable plot is accessible by guests, so you can pick fresh aubergines with the help of the host’s gardener. Marinate and grill up on your barbecue, before gathering the family on the verandah for a wholesome dinner at sunset.

What's more, the golden sands of Sfakaki Beach sit only a short drive away along the coastal road. However, we wouldn't blame you if you never wanted to leave this home at all.

Each day, wake up like royalty under a white canopy and slip out onto your private balcony. Have a professional chef come to prepare breakfast in the kitchen, as you dine beneath elegant wood beams while the fire crackles. Then, we think that lazy mornings are best spent soaking up the sunshine around the hydro massage pool. Following an adventurous afternoon, grill souvlaki over the barbecue and chat out on the terrace. Finally, after the sun sets, why not enjoy a special night of wine tasting with your loved ones?

Take in the dreamy views over the Mediterranean from this apartment’s terrace. We can imagine relaxing in the Crete sun here. For lunch, dine in the shade of the canopy on dakos drizzled with olive oil and topped with grated fresh tomato and mizithra cheese. Inside this cosy apartment, you can admire more of the sea vistas from the living space and bedrooms.

Situated in Tsesmes-Platanias, on the outskirts of vibrant Rethymno town, it’s 2.5 kilometres from a sandy beach and a short distance to many tourist attractions, amenities, and a wide variety of restaurants and cafes. For history or art lovers, the Fortezza Venetian Castle is well worth a visit, along with the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete.

It’s based in the tranquil and traditional village of Pagkalochori, just along the coast from Rethymno and a short drive from Stavromenos beach – a fantastic spot for exploring Crete’s north coast. The garden makes a wonderful place to soak up the sunshine, with a large pool for morning lengths as well as a hot tub for soaks at sunset, plus a playground for little ones. Inside, the home is a little plain and simple, but it’s a calming and quiet space to relax in between all the fun.
