It’s six kilometres to the charming streets of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, and the e-bikes provided will get you there without breaking a sweat. You might not want to leave your villa though, with those incredible valley views from the pool deck to soak up, plus a gym, private sauna and hot tub to enjoy. Inside, the decor is sleek with a minimalist Japanese feel. The ultra-modern kitchen and living room feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors which slide open to let the Mediterranean sunshine and sea breeze in. To find a villa that’s this extravagant, this spacious and this luxurious is a rarity so close to Dubrovnik’s famed Old Town. You’re just outside the Pile Gate here, the stone-carved entranceway to the shambling alleyways and oranged-roofed splendour of the Old Town. So you can pick your moment, before or after the cruise ship passengers fill the streets of the Old Town and explore when it’s quiet.

Waiting out the crowds at this sanctuary of a villa is no chore either. There’s a pristine swimming pool for cooling off in the heat of the day, a full outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired oven for lunches that last the afternoon, and myriad terraces and patios hidden by palm trees and verdant greenery. Pick your own Mediterranean vegetables from the garden and perhaps enjoy a game of bocce on the court in the sunshine. 

Inside, you can feel the 200-year-old history of this lavish villa, with frescoed ceilings in the bedrooms and white-wash wood keeping things breezy downstairs. As well as several lounges and living rooms for downtime, there’s a dedicated meeting room with a projector if you’re planning a corporate getaway or want to work remotely in style. Though if you want to spend your time here relaxing, there’s a Finnish sauna that’s sure to do the job.

There's so much to love about this freshly renovated historic home, that it's hard to know quite where to start. But as it's probably the leading reason visitors flock to this corner of the Dalmatian coast, we'll start with the view. Set high above the Old Town, in the most sought-after part of Dubrovnik, it looks out over that postcard-perfect vista – just as it has for centuries. If its old stone walls could talk, it could tell us tales of this dramatic city, reaching back to the Renaissance. 

Today, the interior has been respectfully brought up to 21st Century expectations, with smart, neutral decor and a mix of contemporary and classical furnishings giving it a stylish, sophisticated look. Bright and comfortable, the living and dining space is a sociable room with incredible views. There's a fully equipped kitchen if you're cooking at home and a wine cellar in the basement, or you can cook in the traditional summer method – outside on the barbecue.

And while the courtyard garden and your private pool are no doubt the stars of the show here, we found ourselves falling in love with the little balcony belonging to the master bedroom on the top floor. We dare you to find a better view of this UNESCO city anywhere. Just a short walk to the nearest pebble beach and a short drive into the city centre, it's a sensational home in an enviable location.

Prepare for some serious sunset serenading at this contemporary villa perched in the smart neighbourhood of Lozica, just ten minutes from the bustle of Dubrovnik Old Town. We love the sense of space this design-savvy home brings, with bedrooms spread across two separate wings. There's also a separate office for remote workers, a sea-facing Jacuzzi bath, and even a fitness room. And wait until you feast your eyes on the infinity pool and private boat dock giving direct access to the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea. Fancy a change of scene? Take your pick from Elaphites, Mljet, Korčula and Pelješac (all just a short drive away) – or a yacht ride, if you're feeling swish.

From the terrace of this beautiful old villa, you can see Lokrum Island floating off the coast of Dubrovnik in the Adriatic Sea. You’re right on the seafront here with nothing between you and the cliffs down to a secret sandy cove (Betina Cave Beach) but a private road. On top of this, it’s just a short drive or leisurely fifteen-minute stroll to the walls of Dubrovnik’s famous Old Town where narrow alleys are home to bars, restaurants and cafes galore.

Though you’d be forgiven for spending all your time at the villa itself. The terrace is home to an inviting swimming pool and a sunken, overflow Jacuzzi where you can soak with a cold drink in hand, looking out over the Adriatic Sea. Dine outdoors on the patio covered by a rustic wooden ceiling and lit by candelabra. Each terracotta-floored terrace is bursting with flowers in pots and the stone walls are draped with botanica making each balcony and outdoor lounge feel like an ancient Venetian’s holiday home.

The highlight inside has to be the conservatory-style lounge and dining room with a wall of glass windows looking out to the sea. In here, stone columns add a sense of grandeur. Across the entire home, you’ll find myriad lounges for the group to spread out, each just as lavish as the last. Bedrooms are luxurious as hotel suites with big beds and Jacuzzi tubs in the ensuites.

This villa is a private retreat just 750 metres away from Dubrovnik. Enjoy stunning panoramic sea views from this delightful villa, which is spread over five floors so has no shortage of space. There are even two swimming pools, one out on the terrace, and one in the wellness area – there’s also a Jacuzzi and sauna. The billiard room and bar is a great spot for fun, while the alfresco dining area is ideal for family dinners – and your host can arrange for a private chef to whip up a feast.

If you want to soak up the history of Dubrovnik, this sixteenth-century townhouse, overlooking terracotta-roofed houses and cobbled streets, could be just what you’re looking for. Located at the heart of Dubrovnik Old Town, you’ll have all the top historical attractions on your doorstep and you’re just a short stroll from Stradun Street for shops, bars, and restaurants. The home’s traditional decor might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the exposed beams, dark wooden furniture, and stone walls certainly suit the historic location. While the house sleeps six, the twin room is very small so is best suited to children or a single guest.

The Silver Wind 

In the heart of Dubrovnik, this modern apartment is within walking distance from all the action. Just a fifteen-minute stroll from Dubrovnik Old Town and five from Bellevue Beach, it’s a great base to come home to after discovering the many shops, restaurants and landmarks the city has to offer. One of our favourite parts is the terrace with its wonderful sea views, while a separate balcony is also shared between two bedrooms. Desks in each bedroom make working from home easy – and you can pay to use the spa, pool and fitness facilities at a nearby hotel. No wonder it caught our eye.

This towering villa sits in an enviable spot in central Dubrovnik. It's around a fifteen-minute walk to the shambling alleyways and historic sights of the famous Old Town, while also being a short stroll from the nearest pebble beach – Betina Cave Beach. But there’s plenty to keep you entertained at the villa itself.

Tiered terraces hang on the hillside, affording fabulous views of Lokrum island, floating out in the crystal Adriatic Sea. Out here, you’ve got a private pool to cool off and, one level up, a sunken Jacuzzi tub for a soothing soak. Dining in the shade of a parasol is a delight with that view to keep the group talking. 

We love the interior, where the light fitting above the dining table looks like an installation in a modern art gallery, and the armchairs could feature in a mid-century museum. Vibrant pictures adorn the walls throughout and the paint-splattered walls of the second living room feel like a work of art in itself. Painting isn’t the only pursuit celebrated in this home – the chrome kitchen could be the canvas for a professional chef and there’s a piano for the maestro of the group in the turret lounge. Bedrooms are sanctuaries, some with access to private balconies, but our favourite has to be the room at the top of the house with its selection of literature for a quiet read.

A serene stay awaits you at this elegant villa. Built using traditional stone walls and wooden beams, it’s absolutely packed with character, with opulent touches in the candle chandeliers and ornate tiled floors that give it a luxurious feel. Originally built way back in the 16th century, it’s a villa that’s absolutely steeped in history, and was once monitored by the Croatian Institute for the Protection of Monuments because of its historical value to the town. We absolutely love the charming decor and artwork, that make this house feel like a real home.

You can start your day with a dip in your private outdoor hot tub to get the blood pumping, before having a rest in your swinging egg chair and listening to the world wake up. Tuck into delicious Croatian pastries for breakfast around your trendy dining set. Have a nap in the morning sunshine on one of the loungers. Cook up some Croatian kebabs on your barbecue for a tasty lunch. In the evenings, gather under your covered terrace to toast cocktails and enjoy conversations under the stars.

Based in the heart of Cavtat’s Old Town, you’ll be within easy reach of friendly restaurants and vibrant bars, where you can have a fantastic night out. You’re also close to many gorgeous beaches where you can enjoy a sea swim and sunbathe.
