And should you ever manage to part your gaze with the sea, you’re perfectly placed to explore the surrounding region. Discover the historic town of Omiš, one of the most dramatic locations of any town on the Dalmatian coast, located just seven minutes away in the car. It's the perfect backdrop to while away an afternoon before settling down for dinner in one of the old town’s authentic restaurants. Or you could head straight for the beach, just a five-minute drive away. Just make sure to be back home in time for the sunset as you fire up the barbecue. Trust us, there's no better place to be.

When you want to venture out, boat trips to Hvar or Brac to hikes in the Biokovo Nature Park are within easy reach.

A View of the Adriatic

Many coastal properties may boast about having the sea on your doorstep, and most of them are exaggerating. Here, we don’t embellish the facts, so when we tell you The Sulidae is just metres from the gentle lapping of the waves, you can believe us. Skip just a few stone steps down from the terrace and you’re getting your feet wet in the glittering waters of the Adriatic, or climbing onto your private boat to explore the islands and surrounding coastline. The home definitely makes the most of the view, with numerous balconies facing out over the sea, but that doesn’t mean the interiors are an afterthought; the beachy and contemporary aesthetic is a continuation of the natural landscape of the bay and calls to mind the traditional homes on this Croatian island. Here, you’ll feel simultaneously awestruck and right at home. 


The Sulidae

This modern, attractive villa can be found on the pine-forested island of Brac. It’s just 200 metres from the pebble beaches of pretty Sumartin, and there are vineyards to discover nearby – we think it’s the perfect choice for families or groups of friends seeking a sunny escape. The villa has everything you could wish for, including a private pool, an alfresco dining space, and an outdoor fitness area. From the sun-drenched terrace, you can admire views over the island and out to the Adriatic – what could be better? 

The Adriatic Embrace

The first thing that grabbed us was the private swim platform straight into the sparkling Adriatic Sea at this Brač villa. Spend days slipping into the crystal clear water, perfect for swimming in the protected bay, and dry out on a lounger on the stone terrace. Or perhaps take out one of the kayaks or paddle-boards. There's also a private mooring spot for boats and a swimming pool to boot. Dine on private terraces and balconies shaded by fragrant pine trees. Or, perhaps head into the quiet harbour town of Sumartin, a six-minute drive away, where the ferry runs to Makarska on the mainland. 

The home itself is a vision of boho-chic with artefacts from across the globe adorning raw wood shelves, cacti and straw lampshades. We can’t decide if our favourite piece is the hand-carved wooden dining table that feels as though it was acquired in a Balinese market, or the azulejo tiles in the master bathroom. The original stone features of the home have been restored too, like the rope-lined staircase and balustraded balconies. The only difficult choice here is which beautifully decorated bedroom you want to bag for your own.
