Ostuni is a fifteen-minute drive away, and the beautiful Marina di Torre Guaceto nature reserve is only twenty minutes away – a varied holiday awaits here. This ancient medieval tower has been restored to welcome couples and solo explorers. Charming and modern, it's worth noting there isn't a kitchen or living space here. Still, you'll find ample seating on the shared terrace and a breakfast buffet, making this a good base. The communal swimming pool and hot tub are also a bonus, but it's the location that really drew us to this spot. Located minutes from beautiful beaches like Torre Santa Sabina, the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, and the historic center of Ostuni, this unlocks another side of Italy.

The communal hydromassage pool is open in the summer months – it's on the smaller side but is great for unwinding away from Carovigno's busy town centre. The kitchen at this home is quite small and the location means there is the potential for some noise from neighbours, but breakfast is provided between May and October and you'll find plenty of fantastic restaurants on your doorstep. You can pay to use a nearby public car park, and it's an easy drive to Ostuni and Brindisi for great days out.

A great option for a family holiday, the open-plan living area overlooks the private infinity pool – perfect for keeping an eye on children playing. If we were being picky, the kitchen area inside feels a touch small compared to the rest of the villa. Between the olive groves of the Puglian countryside, this villa is a lesson in minimalism and sleek design. An inviting private pool is at the centre of the outdoor space and the dining terrace (with a charcoal barbecue) looks out over ancient olive trees. Accommodation is split between the main building, where you’ll find one of the bedrooms and the sparse living area, kept cool by white stone walls. One of the bedrooms is in its own lamia building and a further bedroom is in the annexe with garden access. It’s a short drive to Ostuni for days wandering the ancient streets, and Brindisi is a short hop in the car.

While the authentic buildings won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, we love the cone-shaped roof and dry stone walls here. And when you’re ready to explore, the historic town of Ostuni, with its Medieval architecture and Adriatic views, is just a walk away.

In the 16th century, this home was a grand mansion. It’s since been renovated into a series of beautiful apartments, each one a splendid base for exploring historic Ostuni. This apartment features a striking domed ceiling above the mezzanine-level bedroom, and has a petite balcony where you can sip vino and watch the action of the square below. There isn't much space but it's a good fit for a couple, and we think the communal spaces – including an ancient chapel and a relaxation area – more than make up for it.

When you’re ready to explore, we recommend hopping in the car to Bosco Verde beach after a day of sightseeing for some fresh coastal air.

Our favourite space is the main bedroom, where a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi bath is the perfect way to end the day. Just note that two bedrooms don't have air conditioning.

The home’s neutral palette is sophisticated epitomised while remaining homely and inviting.

Guests absolutely love the privacy of this home, and they’ve noted that something precious particularly sticks out…the silence. Just you, your family, and the acres of olive trees. That is until someone starts blasting some poolside classics on the Bose speaker, but it’s all part of enjoying this beautiful home however you want to. Although secluded, there isn’t a compromise on safety. Groups can enjoy their holiday without having to worry about a single thing - a remote-controlled entry gate, alarm system, security service, and video doorbell ensure complete privacy and safety.

Built in 1877 and renovated in 2017, guests are lucky enough to experience the rustic charm of Southern Italian architecture, complete with local tiles and ancient stone, as well as top-notch kitchen appliances and walk-in showers. The blend of old and new is so effortless. Bask in the sun, dip in the heated pool, and lounge under the stunning cabana, before getting the outdoor, stone barbeque going. The outdoor kitchen is complete with a sink and stove, too. Not to mention an outdoor shower that flows out hot water. There's really not much reason to go inside, but when the kids (and the parents!) need some downtime, you can load Netflix up on the TV. 

Although you feel like the only people in the world, you’re never far from a helping hand. We know that babies and toddlers go through nappies and wipes like nobody’s business, and packing for this can be stressful. Relax knowing that you can request a pre-arrival grocery delivery, so everything is there ready for you. Should you want to, nearby villa staff can pop over to help with more shopping or cleaning up. This is perfect for families that can’t nip out to the shops as easily, you don’t have to lift a finger - it comes to you. In the same vein, access to a nearby private chef adds that extra bit of luxury, ease, and comfort. Especially with children generally eating earlier than the grown-ups (which eats into your precious pool time!), a chef that can whip something up for them, then get to work on a gourmet four-course meal for the adults.

Speaking of activities, we know you might not even want to leave the gorgeous villa, but there is so much to do in the area that your host can arrange. Part of a grand 16th-century mansion that’s been lovingly restored into apartments, this home is an excellent base in Ostuni for a couple or a small family. We think at most two adults can stay here comfortably as it’s on the smaller side – the pull-out bed is definitely better suited to children. It’s not massive but it does have heaps of charm, and the kitchen window looks out over the city’s rooftops. You’ll also have access to shared facilities including a relaxation area and an ancient chapel.

This cosy studio apartment is in a 16th-century mansion renovated into apartments. The charm and history of the home have been retained – you can even visit the original chapel, and the coat of arms of one of the first families to own the home can be seen on the front door. Inside, space is limited, and the sleeping arrangements aren’t the most comfortable or private – we think this is best suited to one adult and one child sharing. You will have access to the shared lounge and relaxation area though, giving you a bit more room to spread out.
