Inside, it is just as charming – the traditional Italian floor tiling is a masterpiece in itself. Coupled with white-wash walls and stone ceilings, there are elements that will make you think of a grand cathedral. Cool and comfortable, the bedrooms are a lovely peaceful sanctuary from the daytime sun. We love how there is a gentle nod to contemporary style with backlighting on some stunning antique features.

Surrounded by ancient pines and fragrant geraniums, this place is the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday with family or friends, offering a total escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. 

Inside, neutral tones and cool, tile floors give this home a rustic quality which is only heightened by the gorgeous, stone fireplace that acts as a focal point for the open-plan living area. As much as we love the interior though, it’s the outside space that really captured our imagination, boasting an elegant patio with plenty of sun loungers for making the most of the Italian sunshine. So while there's more than enough space for ten of you to gather together to relax and recharge, you're also guaranteed some much-needed privacy. A little further on, the pool house offers comfortable seating for afternoon nibbles and wine, but not before an alfresco lunch prepared in the stone barbecue. 

Take afternoon walks in the garden to better admire the manicured hedges and olive groves or appreciate the landscape from the covered terrace at sunset. When you eventually venture inside, you don’t need to worry about severing your outdoor connection entirely, not when most of the living space comes with floor-to-ceiling windows and door leading out. It’s easy to unwind at this villa in Torre Suda. There’s plenty of room to relax, with a large garden, an infinity pool, and an alfresco dining area that’s perfect for summer barbecues. Just note that two guests will be sleeping on the living room sofa bed. The sea is just 300 metres away, so beach days are a given. Your host can also arrange massages, horse riding, and local experiences to help you make the most of your stay. This is a quieter part of the coast, so we recommend hiring a car to explore nearby beaches and restaurants.

Nestled in the heart of Old Gallipoli, this wonderfully authentic, light filled home has it all –beautifully preserved historical features, modern home comforts, and the perfect central location. Magnificent vaulted ceilings, original frescoes, and age-old cement tiled floors give you a taste of the region's past while the private roof terrace offers spectacular views out across the Ionian Sea. Accessed via an internal staircase, this is the perfect place to relax come morning, noon or night-time. You’ll want to laze on the sunbed before cooling off under the outdoor shower, barbeque and eat alfresco at the gazebo covered dining table or cosy up together with a glass of wine beneath the stars. 

Alternatively spend the day at the Beach of Purity, a mere 200 metres away, or by exploring the old town centre’s numerous Baroque churches and aristocratic palazzi before strolling down to the sea-front promenade and sampling one of the city’s many cafes, bars and restaurants. Whatever you do, at the day’s end make sure not miss the opportunity for that nightcap on the terrace!

Located about 10km inland from Puglia's western coast, this home has plenty of outdoor space for fun in the sun. While the interior is a little sparse in places – you won't find sofa space for everyone here nor enough seats around the indoor dining table – it's the garden, terrace and saltwater pool that sold this home to us. The alfresco dining area is perfect for evening meals – although if you've got a full house, some guests will be dining at the covered seating area. There is also an annex with a bathroom and sofa bed - perfect for a couple looking for privacy. Nearby, you'll find supermarkets and eateries to keep you well-fed.

One glance at the panoramas and you'll see why this apartment caught our eye. Facing the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea, you'll have a birds-eye look across Gallipoli. Here, you'll wake up to the sun-kissed sea views each morning before enjoying an alfresco breakfast on the private terrace. After a stint at the local beach or a wander around Gallipoli's narrow streets, decompress back home with a glass of wine as the sun dips below the coastline. The decor may be a bit plain, and there isn't a proper living space, but we think that's a fair compromise.

Set across one floor, this home is ideal for those with reduced mobility, while any kids in the group have plenty of space to run around in the fenced garden. Inside you’ll fund plenty of traditional Puglian charm thanks to exposed stonework and vaulted ceilings.

Vaulted ceilings and original tiles underfoot are a nod to this 18th-century home’s former glory, and keep things naturally cool inside. Each bedroom has its own style and there’s a dedicated office room for those working remotely.
